Being the only one of the two who wasn't unconscious or in a stupor or whatever it was that was wrong with Severus, it was up to Lloyd to explain things. Or try to explain. He was too busy hacking his brains out to say much of anything and when he and Severus were carted away to the Hospital Wing on stretchers. Lloyd tried to tell the Professors that he could walk, but suddenly just lying there seemed like a very good idea.
A few minutes later, he was being administered to by Madam Pomfrey, she'd already started taking care of Severus, and Lloyd muttered, "He was actin' kinda funny. Like he was drunk or somethin' but I was with him the whole time. He didn't have any bottles or nothing and he didn't smell like alcohol." He pointed out and then a spell expelled the smoke from his lungs, it rose up from his throat, and out his nose and mouth, giving him the appearance of a dragon about to breath fire.
Severus was given some potions and Lloyd lay there on his back, his eyes shut as he tried to get in a nap. But that was impossible, for Slughorn and McGonagal both came into the Hospital Wing and seeing Lloyd and Severus were starting to recover, both of them started to lecture their students.
"Of all the stupid things!" Lloyd's head of house scolded, her face livid "Did you even think of the repercussions of your actions?" she asked, but before Lloyd could reply, she went on "You could have both died! The fire could have spread out to the grounds! Other students could have died! Most of those plants were very rare! You've both ruined the work of many students'! Hard work! Not to mention that arson is a crime! What do you have to say for yourself Mr. Irving?"
Next to him, Severus was getting a similar lecture from the chubby Professor Slughorn, he caught a few choice words 'Idiocy, 'irresponsibility' and 'punishment' were some of them.
"Well?" Asked McGonagal as she glared at Lloyd
".......It was an accident!" Lloyd said quietly, "We was gonna teach each other spells." He told her, "Severus went first and-"
"Why did you think it was a good idea to use fire? Did you think it was funny?" the woman cut him off, not giving him much chance to explain anything! Every time he tried to explain things, one or both and sometimes even Madam Pomfrey would cut him off. They were all too angry to listen to reason!
In the end, they decided to 'deal with them later' and left them to recover.
Lloyd sat upright in the bed, propped up by pillows, he was glaring at his lap, "It ain't fair." He grumbled, and looked to Severus "We didn't do nothin' wrong! You were all whacked out on....well I dunno but you wasn't in your right mind and I didn't do anythin' 'cept try to get us outta there! Why won't they listen?" He grumbled "S'not fair." He added for good measure.

Slughorn didn’t seem happy. Severus could hear him telling him off, explaining that he was going to have to deal with lost house points and detention, regardless of whether or not the headmaster decided to punish him. He really didn’t have much to say in response, though, not even to defend himself and explain he hadn’t been himself at the time. As much as he might have liked to explain, he was feeling a little groggy, still, from the potions Pomfrey had given him for the smoke inhalation and the toxin in his system. He was still coming around from the whole ordeal. However, Slughorn didn’t seem too interested in the fact that Severus wasn’t at his prime. Not until he was informed by Pomfrey. Then, sheepishly, he left with McGonagall, off to see what the headmaster thought of the situation.
Severus was glad- all the yelling was giving him a headache, anyway.
He thought, with them gone, that he would be able to rest a bit, but that wasn’t going to happen either. Frowning, he turned his head to look at Lloyd, arching an eyebrow. Thankfully, his thoughts were starting to clear- he could remember what had happened, though it felt like it was someone else had been using his body in his place. It was all… very strange. That was certainly the last time he would be getting high, that was for sure. You know, unless he touched another toxic plant unknowingly.
“Just relax,” he grumbled, moving a hand over his eyes, his fingers rubbing his temples, “I’m sure they’ll figure out what happened before too long… they’re just angry right now… and want to blame someone for what happened.” It was always so easy to blame students, even though he hadn’t been the one to put the damn plant where a student could casually touch it in the first place!
So irritating.
Sighing softly, he lowered his hand again, closing his eyes despite the lack of intention to sleep. There was something nagging at him. Guilt, for lack of a better word. Guilt was making him restless, mostly because he knew he was to blame for them both being in the hospital wing. Maybe going to the green house had not been the best of plans in the first place. Even if Lloyd hadn’t shown up, he had still touched that plant first… he couldn’t even spin it to blame it on the other student.
“Are… you alright?” He asked after a moment, keeping his eyes closed, “I mean… I remember stuff falling… did you get hurt?” He could have died. They both could have died. That was a little bit frightening. Then again, maybe things would have turned out fine, too. There was no way of really knowing, right?
Totally.

"I know I know." Lloyd muttered with a long sigh, "It's just.....I don't like being yelled at and thinking I'm in trouble. It's frustrating and annoying and it makes me feel like....I did something wrong." He was like a puppy that had just been kicked for no good reason. He shook his head slightly, "Not all the Professors are like that." He said, thinking of Raine in particular and how she always looked at things from as many points of view as possible and never doled out blame or punishment until afterward.
"Huh?" He asked, looking over at Severus, he looked so worn out that Lloyd felt guilty for keeping him up. "Oh...yeah....no I'm okay." He said, "A couple of burns, but I didn't really notice 'em until afterward and they weren't too bad." He told him, ".....That was scary back there. Really .....really scary. If we'd have been just a couple seconds late.....we might've .....died." it hit him just then, just how close they'd come to death.
".......What happened to you back there?" He asked, "I mean, you ain't an idiot so......what made you act so....so weird?" He wondered for a moment if it could be drugs but then he figured that it'd be awfully hard to conceal them in a magical school and he'd probably been tested for such things when it had been mentioned he'd acted strangely. He remembered something then, "There was a plant....one of them really dangerous ones....did you ....inhale some of the pollen or something?" That had to be it! What else could it be? He imagined Severus had been just fine until the pollen's affects had kicked in and made him act all loopy.
"If the herbology Professor had kept the plant under a spell to keep people from getting too close or something, it wouldn't have happened." He said after a moment of thought, granted it was long moment, but at least he'd come up with it without any help whatsoever. "When do you think we'll get outta here? I'm beat. You were kinda dead weight at the end there." He said with a shake of his head.
He leaned back in the bed, shutting his eyes ".....Think anyone will visit us? I dunno if Rai-....I mean, Professor Sage will. Genis might. He's my best friend, even though he's only a third year. He's still really cool." he knew Genis wouldn't visit for long, and he wondered when Severus' friends would come by. "Maybe they'll bring stuff like sweets and yummy food." He laughed slightly, and then lapsed into silence as he just relaxed, worn out from the adventure they'd had moments before.

Severus frowned. Really, he couldn’t remember thinking it had been scary. He had been too out of it at the time- maybe that was a small blessing. If he had been more aware of his actions, he might have been terrified. Maybe that would have made things even worse. Not that they could have gotten much worse. He had been so stupid- that was the last time he touched any plants he wasn’t familiar with. As someone who spent so much time around deadly ingredients while working on potions, one might have thought he would have shown more caution than he had. Who just touched whatever looked interesting? Children. He had acted like a child, and because of that, had almost gotten someone hurt. He was glad he only had a couple of burns to deal with-he would have felt so guilty if it had been something more.
And he hated feeling guilty.
When the kid asked him what had happened, he let out a heavy sigh, shaking his head and offering an absent shrug of his shoulders. “It couldn’t have been a pollen,” Severus said after a moment, “you would have inhaled it, too, if that had been the case. I imagine it was one of the plants I touched before you arrived- it must have had a toxin resin on the leaf, that sank into my skin after I touched it. With the time between that happening, and you arriving, it must have gotten into my bloodstream and been what… caused me to act so strangely.”
The boy sighed softly to himself, still musing over how stupid he had been when Lloyd spoke again. Severus offered another shrug, feeling it was the only thing he could really do to show how displeased he was by the whole thing. “I suppose we’ll be out by tomorrow, if not tonight,” Severus replied, “she’s just keeping us here to keep an eye on us, I don’t think either of us had any serious injuries or health issues. Even the poison was probably easy to take care of.” He’d been given enough potions to think she’d healed him up right good. It was likely they were only there, now, for observation. Or they were being kept in the same spot so the headmaster could come and have a nice chat with them. Either way, he didn’t think their stay was going to be an extended one.
They would be back out, causing chaos, in no time.
“Genis? That kid’s an idiot,” Severus scoffed. He hated children. And he hated children who had it easy. So he didn’t see any reason to like the boy, or boy kind about his thought on him, either. He looked away from Lloyd, aware his bad mood was probably getting the better of him. He couldn’t help it: when he was mad, the world was his enemy. And he was very mad at himself right at that moment.
He’d been so stupid.
“No one will visit me,” he said blandly, “but I’m sure if you have visitors, they’ll bring you something nice. Just make sure you’re not too loud- I would like to sleep at some point.” Was he bitter? A little. Lonely? For sure. No Slytherins would be coming to see him over something so minor. Maybe if he had lost a limb.
Maybe.
