dementor. during one of the dance rehearsals she was dropped by a male dancer and fatally broke her leg causing her ballet career to end. while she was in the hospital her family made her come home, and she lost everything she ever cared about including the love of her life.
erised. even though she would never admit it to herself, deep down inside she just wants to be with someone who will love her. her whole life has been spent on scheming and getting her way that she has pushed everyone she ever loved away. finding someone who will put up with her crazy and be patient with her is something she needs, but she does not realize it.

overall personality. sometimes meredith's personality is extremely hard to swallow. she is controlling, demanding, high maintenance, and extremely arrogant. her dominant character trait would have to be her intense need to control everything. whenever she does not have control of the situation she tends to get frustrated and even a bit unstable. she highly exceeds what people would call a 'control freak.'
her father was a highly wealthy ceo of a very successful industry in the wizarding world. meredith's family never struggled with money. this has caused her to become very stuck up and arrogant. she loves expensive clothes and long vacations to paris. in many ways her wealth has created the monster that she is today.
even though she comes off as very confident and sure of herself meredith is actually quite insecure. she never really trusts her talents and tends to sabotage any competition she might have or make the odds be more in her favor. she hates to lose and for some reason she doesn't believe she can really win without playing dirty. even her marriage was an attempt to climb the social ladder.
the only time she ever reveals her softer side is with her two kids. deep down meredith really does have a loving and maternal side. when she is around her children she is a good person and does whatever she can to provide a stable home for her family.

history. december 13, 1936: michael was more than furious, he was having a child that was less than pureblood. in fact, she was a perfect half-blood, and now he was going to have to pay the price. the copland family was a well established family that was the result of decades of careful breeding. the birth of a child was not something to take lightly, if anyone ever found out this child was not pureblood, or that he had an affair with a muggle woman all hell would break loose. he wasn't going to let that happen. ever. which was why he proposed a deal with his daughter's real mother. she'd shut up and never try to make contact in return for a rather large check. on the flip side marissa would pretend the child was hers to avoid public humiliation.
august 2, 1941: "why does mother hate me?" meredith jude asked her father before bed. ever since the six year old comprehend english the words that came out of her mother's mouth were never friendly, and she hated it. whenever sarah did something it was always so wonderful, but anything meredith did earned her love and praise. the only person in her family that loved her was father, and he was hardly ever home. what had she done to deserve such disapproval from her mom?
november 5, 1945: ballet was the only thing that made her feel at home. whenever her father was away on business her mother didn't even look at her so her real home was not much of a home, but when she was on stage dancing everything was right. someday she was going to be a professional ballerina and dance all of the famous roles. meredith was sure of it.
september, 1947 the first day of school was frightening to say the least, and when the hat placed her in slytherin she wasn't sure if she was to be happy or upset. both her parents were in that house, and she loved her father, but she wanted to be nothing like her mother. if being in house slytherin meant becoming her mother she was scared to death.
august 26, 1954 her mother really knew how to piss her off, and making her do an intern at the ministry was just the final straw. meredith was not going to do what her mother wanted her to do after eighteen years of being treated like dirt. no, she was an adult now, and she had the power to do what she wanted with her life. that was why she packed up her bags and signed a contract with a ballet studio in london. she could make it on her own she just knew it.
may 4, 1957 how had she gotten the main role in the studio's production of swan lake? this was a dream come true, and she couldn't wait to show the world what she was meant to do. not only had she gotten the role of her dreams, but she also was deeply in love. he was a wizard, but he supported her desire to be a ballerina in the muggle world.
may 12, 1957 her career was over. it only took one bad break to end everything she had ever dreamed of accomplishing, and of course it happened right after she received so much critical praise! her parents showed their faces to her in the hospital bed, and her mother told her she had to come home and take a real job now that this one was finished. if she refused this her mother ensured her she'd be nothing to the family. meredith had to leave her life, break it off with the love of her world, and rejoin the prison of pureblood life. she had no choice if she still wanted to have a family.
june 13, 1958 how romantic, her parents had arranged her to marry anthony yaxley; a horrid pureblood elitist. in order to make up for the damage she had already done she couldn't protest the matter, and in a lavish ceremony she became mrs. yaxley. in her heart this marriage was simply a business deal and nothing more. their life together would be loveless. that was why she went off to find the real love of her life after the ceremony. much to her surprise he took her back into his arms without any hesitation.
1959 the birth of her daughter was the happiest day of her life! she was such a beautiful girl, and she looked so much like her father. her father who wasn't anthony yaxley (not that he knew that.) when she realized her affair was not going to look good if her husband found out she reluctantly ended it a couple months after her daughter was born. since she was starting fresh she also applied for a job at the ministry and got it without a question.
1960 she had a son, and anthony was over the moon that there would be a boy to carry on the yaxley name. meredith was equally pleased, or so she pretended, but the truth was she could care less about 'carrying on the name.' her two beautiful children were world whether they were pureblood, half blood, male, or female. none of that mattered to her.
july 4, 1973 in the blink of an eye he was back in her life. the man she always loved, and the father of her daughter. this was a turn of events, and when she realized how it was to have someone to love her the way she was supposed to be loved she filed for divorce. it didn't take long to finalize everything, but when she told her love that she had been keeping a child from him it all changed. he no longer wanted to be part of her life. now she was divorced and heartbroken.
october 1, 1976 finally the ministry had granted her the promotion she deserved, and a huge one at that. meredith was now the senior undersecretary to the minister and it was a position no one was going to take away from her. she hadn't felt this powerful in years, and now that she had a taste of it she was never going to let it go.
