part one . the magical facts

section 1 . wand

hazel, unicorn hair, 10'' - it is said that hazel wands are devoted to their masters, often reflecting their emotional state, and as such tend to work best with those who can understand and manage their own feelings.

section 2 . ravenclaw

like her mother before her, maria was sorted into the house of the wise. however, during the sorting ceremony, the sorting hat had some troubles deciding whether to place the female in ravenclaw or gryffindor as maria seemed to possess some of the traits appreciated in the gold and red house. in the end though, maria was sorted into ravenclaw.

section 3 . order of the phoenix

while she would much rather stay neutral in the terms of the upcoming war, if forced to choose a side, maria would undoubtedly choose the order. and even though the female doesn't really believe fighting is the best option, she does feel like the order is fighting for what is right.

section 4 . pureblood supremacy

even though she comes from a pureblood family, maria, much like her mother, doesn't believe that purebloods are better than those of muggle origins or half-bloods. while her other played a great role in passing on this mentality, coming to hogwarts was what really made the female believe that blood had little to no importance when it came to magical talent. after all, she witnessed several muggleborns preforming better magic than purebloods.

maria likes to observe those around her. she is constantly taking in information about people and situations that she considers important and stores it away. this information library of hers is usually startling accurate, as she seems to have an exceptional memory for things that are important to her. it’s not uncommon for the female to remember a particular facial expression or a conversation even though it happened a long time ago, if said situation was important to her.

she is mostly a quiet and reserved individual, however, one can't really label her as shy. she can cope with social situations just fine, but she merely doesn't like talking that much. she tends to keep her opinions to herself, only sharing them with those she trusts in. that being said, maria doesn't have any problems with speaking up if the moment calls for it, and she doesn't have any problems when it comes to standing up to what she believes is right. she has this really strong moral code she nearly never strays from, and she'll stick to it at all times, even if it clashes with the rules imposed by others.

while the female doesn't seem to openly share her feelings or opinions, maria does try her best to make those around her happy. she's a great advice giver, and won't mind if you come to her and rant about all your problems in search for insight. now really, she might even enjoy that. you really won't be burdening her, she'll be quite happy that she can help you with something. however, these aspects of her personality are usually quite hard to perceive, precisely because she is so guarded and it's not uncommon for people to think she's conceited.

and of course that the fact that she's always been a rather independent person doesn't really help with this. but the truth is, maria likes to do things in her own way. she doesn't like it when people tell her how she's supposed to be doing something - even if she ends up doing that thing in that way - because she likes to have her own space and she likes to be able to pursue her goals on her own, so it's also quite hard to see her asking for help. she will struggle until she manages to do something. and if she doesn't? well, she will end up asking for someone's help, not feeling the least bit happy about it.

section 2 . early life

maria was the first born into the langley family - into what would be a perfect family. and although her memories from her early years of life are few and quite foggy, the female knows she can't complain as far as family is concerned. both isabelle and kaidan were loving parents who doted on their little girl. maria was barely two when her mother started to work as a teacher at hogwarts, and as such, the young girl ended up spending most of her time with her father, while her mother was away teacher. in the end though, maria turned out to be more like her mother than her father.

section 3 . magic

was something maria grew up with. and after she accidentally levitated the neighbors' cat up to the roof, there wasn't really much doubt she'd be attending hogwarts once she was old enough. and in all honesty, maria couldn't wait until she was able to go to the school. and though it was expected, maria couldn't hold her enthusiasm when the letter finally arrived, telling her she was to attend hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. she'd been to diagon-alley a couple of times before, with her parents, but never had the place seemed more magical, mind the pun. the same with king's cross station. she'd been there countless times before, to see her mother off and the receive her when she returned, but now she'd actually be able to ride the train! it was all even better than she had imagined.

section 4 . hogwarts

she knew what hogwarts was supposed to look like. she knew how it was supposed to be. but actually seeing the castle was... well, magical. the sorting ceremony was that one thing she wasn't prepared for. she didn't know what to expect of a talking hat, but she couldn't say she was particularly scared about the house she might be sorted into - okay okay, she had to admit it she didn't really like the idea of being sorted into slytherin. but it all turned out for the best, as she followed the footsteps of her mother into ravenclaw. which, by the way, was odd. not the whole being sorted into the same house as her mother thing. but seeing her seated at that table while she was sorted felt weird, just in the same way it felt weird having your mother as a teacher. but even with all that, her first year was a calm one, and she made some friends. and after that hogwarts became a routine, the years followed each other as she carried on with her studies.

section 4 . genevieve

after a lifetime of being an only child, being told she was to have a baby sister came as a surprise to maria. like most children, she had gone through that phase where she would ask her parents for a sibling, but once she reached her teens, she had resigned herself to her only child status. nevertheless, genevieve was a great gift, and maria is now the proud older sister of what she thinks is the most adorable baby ever.

section 5 . problems

maria knows things between her parents aren't exactly perfect. she knows the reason the problems started was her father's change in attitude towards muggleborns and half-bloods. though she knows all this, maria prefers to act like everything is okay, pretending things are fine. the idea of having her parents splitting up scares her beyond reason, but she feels it's best if she doesn't meddle in their affairs, and that they should work things out on their own.
