she was late. not that she hadn't been late before. in fact, she could be considered one of those people that had a tendency to arrive "fashionably late" to events and meetings. but this meeting was a little different. it really wasn't a meeting at all. it was a bonding time with her sister, and bonding time that she desperately needed and wanted lately. and of all people, her sister would know to expect her to be late, but she still felt a tinge of guilt as she scrambled in her room, tossing her uniform for more casual clothing and shoes she could then proceed to run in.
it had been a while since alex had asked aralynn to hang out just the two of them. most of the time alex was seen tagging along with their brother. it was odd. normally one would assume the two sisters would get along better than a sister and brother, but not in this family. though aralynn had grown up loving and cherishing her siblings, she was very independent and could stand on her own. that sort of placed her siblings together, especially when she left for school. she wouldn't admit it, but she was jealous of the relationship her brother and sister had. but she also was different from her sister in many ways apart from just looks. her sister was a ravenclaw after all and didn't have the confidence and determination aralynn had. but, she still was her sister and she still loved her. and alex asking for her to hang out was not something she was about to let slip through her fingers. she missed her too much.
she grabbed a light jacket and threw it on over her shoulders. grabbing her shoes, she slipped them on as she made her way out of the common rooms. she slipped out of the dungeons and headed up towards the astronomy tower. it was something that they did, alex and her, and always had. laying under the stars and talking about life. it was their own tradition and one that aralynn placed close to her heart. but what did alex want to talk about? not that it really mattered. anything that the two of them discussed was better than not speaking at all. besides, they could talk about anything really, and if not, they could lay comfortably under the stars just watching the night sky.
aralynn ran up the stairs to the tower, and opened the door to the balcony. but to her surprise alex wasn't there yet. that was strange. her sister was hardly ever late. aralynn let out a small laugh thinking about her sister and being late and questioning what in the world had made her late. but alex was never late, and for another moment she got worried about something happening to her sister. she mentally slapped herself. alex would be here, there was nothing to worry about. she took a few more steps out into the balcony and laid down. luckily it wasn't too cool out and the sky was clear.
as she gazed at the sky, it took her breath away was more and she was silent and speechless. the way the stars shone and how they aligned were perfect. she could hear herself breathing and relaxed into the ground. this was magnificent. but the silence was broken quickly as she heard footsteps running up the stairs. aralynn sat up expectantly. she wondered what the reason was for alex being late, and she was excited to see her sister.

She was never one to run late. In fact, Alexandria was always a rather punctual being…unless she didn’t like you of course. But this was a whole different meeting altogether. It wasn’t just anyone, though she’d never be going out of her way to meet anyone anyways. Still, it was her dearest sister. Sure, Alex was always closer to her brother, but that didn’t mean she totally ignored her sister. After all, Aralynn was practically the only one Alex would go to talk to about anything girly, or about nothing. Sometimes she’d owl their mother, but Aralynn always seemed more helpful than just letters of advice from mother. It wasn’t everyday that they met or anything, but once in a while they did. Being in different years and houses made it a bit more difficult, however. Still, Alex knew now was the time to talk with Aralynn. If anything, just to have their usual nightly chats about everything and nothing at all.
In all honesty, Alex rather missed those, but she didn’t dwell long on it. Aralynn was always the one who was late, but Alex had a feeling it’d be the other way around this time. It wasn’t her fault, really, it wasn’t. She was in the library, looking up some things when all of a sudden it was time to go. She had to place the books back to where they were, pack up and leave to the astronomy tower. Aralynn probably would have been coming from the dungeons, unless she was out or something wandering the castle. Still, she had a longer way to go, so Alex hoped that would be the case. She’d hate to have her sister waiting, especially since she was the one that asked for the meeting, not Aralynn. Alexandria was rather glad though, when Aralynn accepted to meet her at the astronomy tower. The stars and night setting made it seem as if they were kids again. Now, if only Hogwarts could have a garden similar to theirs. Maybe next time they’d meet at the greenhouses, who knew.
Making her way out of the library, Alex huffed, fixing the strap of her bag and making sure everything was in it before she set off at a brisk pace. She wasn’t use to rushing, and she found that she absolutely hated it. She’d rather just have waited to do her work later on and have been on time to her meeting with her older sister. With a slight sigh, Alex continued up the flights of stairs and almost dropped her bag and it’s contents on the ground when she nearly ran into someone. It was a rather sudden appearance, but it was also around a corner. Luckily, they were far enough apart. It was a fellow Ravenclaw heading down. Probably to go meet a girlfriend or go to the library. Either way, Alex rushed by, mumbling a simple ‘sorry’. As she neared the astronomy tower, she began to get a bit nervous. Really, she didn’t have much to worry about, but she couldn’t help it. What if her sister left because she thought she wasn’t going to show up? Or even worse, what if Aralynn forgot about their meeting?
Shaking her head of those thoughts, Alexandria continued up the final flight of stairs that led to the astronomy tower. It was rather silent, so as she neared the door, she slowed her pace. With a deep breath, she hoped that Aralynn was either already there or on her way over. Closing her eyes and exhaling, Alex prepared herself to enter the tower. One would think she was going to fight a lion or something. Her eyes lit up quickly before returning to their normal green shade. Almost like a trick of light. Even with family, Alex had trouble expressing herself. Only when she was completely vulnerable did she allow herself to show her emotions completely. If hasn’t happened often, but enough to know that she wasn’t the ice princess she portrayed herself to be. With a slight smile, Alex sat beside her elder sister, her attention going to the sky almost immediately after. "How have you been?" It wasn’t the best conversation starter ever, but Alex couldn’t think about anything else to say. At least, not yet.
Her green eyes flickered from the stars to Aralynn. "Remember, we used to sit out in the garden and count stars?" she laughed lightly. Only when they finished talking did they try and count all the stars in the sky. Of course, they lost count rather easily, but it was fun nonetheless. She rather liked spending time with Aralynn this way. It was sort of their thing.

it had felt forever since aralynn had seen alexandria, and seeing her enter the tower, she smiled and watched as alex came closer to where she sat. aralynn wondered quietly to herself when alex had gotten so old. it felt like only days ago when they were children and alex was still a child. but now she was growing into a young woman, just like aralynn, and it was odd to see her sister growing up.
"i've been good. stressed, but good," she responded to alex, adding a bit of a laugh to her voice. "seventh year is definitely kicking my behind. but i want to do well so i can get a job at the ministry once i'm done here. so it will all be worth it. how are you doing?" aralynn hoped alex was doing well with everything in her life and was on top of her school work, but also was getting along well in her social life. she was a ravenclaw after all, so the two of them didn't spend all that much time together. aralynn constantly assumed that alex was doing well because she was in ravenclaw and she liked to read and study. she took after aralynn in that way, valuing her education. and she hadn't heard any horror stories from students involving alex, or any defeats in her own neck of the wood. besides, too many people knew that alex was her sister and that if they messed with alex they would have aralynn coming after her as well.
aralynn allowed herself to lay down again next to alex. she stared at the sky and stars, allowing the silence to engulf them for a moment before alex spoke up. did she remember when they had done this in the garden? how could she forget. it was one of the most important memories that aralynn treasured from her youth. she smiled though alexandria couldn't see her and nodded her head. "yes, of course i remember. i remember the hours we would just lay there, talking about everything and nothing at all. laughing about mom and dad, and boys." aralynn could see some of those nights as if they happened only days before. nights giggling about a boy that aralynn had a crush on, or another boy who had picked flowers for alex. aralynn always had stories to share, and always loved giving advice to alex. alex was a better listener than aralynn was, and aralynn appreciated the time alex would spend listening to her prattle on about her worries. she remembered talking to alex the summer before she left for hogwarts. scared about the sorting ceremony and where she would be placed. she wanted to make her parents proud and be sorted into slytherin. she wanted to continue the legacy. alex supported and reassured her, and aralynn could never express how her kind words had relaxed her for the actual ceremony. she had gotten into slytherin, it was alexandria who hadn't.
"speaking about boys, any new boys in your life?" aralynn teased, knocking her leg against where alexandria's laid. this was a very different aralynn then anyone really ever saw. except perhaps her best friends and the odd boy. to the world aralynn was miss bitch, and take it, she enjoyed that title and wore the crown with pride. she liked having people respect her and fear her. but she also knew where her loyalty lied, and there was a different side to her. a kinder, loving side. she just hadn't found many people who deserved that side of her. luckily for alex, she had been endowed with the loving side of aralynn since she was born.
she hadn't heard anything about her sister and a boyfriend, or boys really in general. that was another part of them that was quite different. aralynn could use and toss boys if they came in handy, or if she got bored of them. aralynn had been through quite a number of slytherin guys, whereas alexandria wasn't known for that. aralynn secretly was thankful for that. not that she wouldn't care either way. but she hadn't heard any news about alex and a boy. but that didn't mean alex wasn't pining over someone, or was secretly engaged in a relationship with someone. we all had our secrets. aralynn just hoped alex would share any news with her, and if aralynn could help things along she would, or tell her there were other, better fish in the sea.

Alexandria couldn’t help but frown a bit at Aralynn’s answer. Stress was never a good thing, even if she did say she was still ‘good’. Stressed over what? Alex couldn’t guess. She never really saw Aralynn as stressed, it was just something she hadn’t envisioned in her sister; strange as it was. Aralynn was always the most…laid back - for the lack of a better word - of the siblings. At least, it seemed that way to Alex. Then again, they hadn’t had much time together since school began. Either she was buried deep in her work, or Aralynn was out with her other friends. It sort of bothered Alex, but she knew the world didn’t revolve around her. At least her eldest sister had agreed to meet her on the astronomy tower to stargaze like they always used to do as kids, before Hogwarts. Back then, it seemed as if they were indeed closer than they were now. Well, to Alex it seemed that way.
Perhaps they were both just growing up. Maybe she was just growing up too fast and Aralynn…well, she was already grown up. Or at least on her way there. With a slight shrug, Alex sighed. Really, nothing exciting was happening in her life…except for the fact she was now going to Hogsmeade with someone else…and a boy nonetheless. Seeing as she already promised him she’d spend the morning with him, the youngest Nott really couldn’t break her word. She’d be eaten up by her guilt if that ever happened. "Nothing much…you know, just the usual." she stated evasively. Really, she didn’t know how to bring it up. The whole topic of spending the morning with someone else. Sure, Aralynn probably won’t mind, but Alex felt a bit guilty by it. After all, she usually spent time with her Slytherin siblings during the Hogsmeade weekends. Just a way to catch up on lost time while still hanging with friends in a neutral environment. "Fifth year isn’t all that bad. I rather like it…the classes are kind of fun…" she smiled a bit, laughter hidden in her words. Merlin, she sounded so much like a complete dork.
"What do you plan to do in the ministry?" Alex hadn’t really thought about it all that much, but she wanted something that would be a challenge. She didn’t want a simple job that would have her bored to death in the first two days. She wanted to look forward to her career, but she hadn’t found anything of that nature yet. Perhaps she could get an idea from Aralynn? She always seemed to do that, get ideas from her siblings and come up with something from that. She couldn’t help it, it was as if they helped her understand herself more than she did alone. "Yeah. After that we’d draw figures in the sky and then mother or father would yell at us for being out too late and to come in." she laughed lightly at the memories all this brought up. To the rather more exciting people, it may have seemed boring. Just laying there and talking while looking at the stars. Nothing exciting about it. And in all honesty, it wasn’t all that exciting. But it was still something. Something big and important in Alex’s life. In her mind, she saw her mother standing by the end of the gardens, hands on her hips in a disapproving way, but an amused smile on every time she saw her daughters staying out late.
Her mother. Alexandria blinked, almost contemplatively looking at the sky. Should she have owled her mother first? No. Alex always went to Aralynn and their brother first, before going to her parents. She very well couldn’t owl her father or tell her brother about this. It was much too…troublesome, to deal with them. They weren’t called overprotective for a reason. With a sly smile, though Aralynn couldn’t see it, Alex shifted her glance towards another group of stars. The Big Dipper. Beside it, was the Little Dipper. Slowly, but surely, her little ice mask broke away, as it almost always did with her siblings. "Boys? Shouldn’t I be the one asking you that? About anyone special?" Of course, Alex had heard plenty of the stories about Aralynn. How…loose her sister was claimed to be. Alex wasn’t surprised though. Her sister always seemed to have a way with the opposite sex. She knew Aralynn wasn’t in love with anyone, but Alex hoped for a crush or something. Perhaps then, she would perhaps have a chance at an actual, good relationship.
But Alex knew not to hold her breath. This was Aralynn she was talking about. But she did hope. "But…I have this…issue?" It really wasn’t an issue at all, but Alex didn’t know what else to call it. She may have been smart, but in the romance field…well…Alex needs all the help she could get. "Ok, so it’s not an issue, persay…but…a meeting? Yeah, it’s a meeting of sorts…I think…" Yes. She most definitely needs all the help she could get in this field. And who better to ask than her dearest big sister? Exactly, no one.

leave it up to alexandria to think about school as 'fun'. not that school didn't have its moments and some classes produced fun moments within them, but school and classes overall were not fun. aralynn snickered to herself assuring herself almost in spite once more that her sister truly was a ravenclaw though she had had wished otherwise many times before. aralynn remembered fifth year, and remembered how long ago those times felt. it had only been two years, but a long two years they had been. a lot had changed, and yet, others things had remained the same. fifth year had been the year aralynn had come into herself. she had begun to realize her potential and how to use that. she had lost her virginity, and had started becoming the queen of slytherin that she was known as today. it was a big year, fifth year, and she wondered how alex's fifth year was going to impact her own life. hopefully it would be big, and hopefully it would be good. and hopefully alex would let aralynn in on it.
when the conversation drifted back towards what aralynn was planning on doing after this year, she shrugged her shoulders slightly. "i don't know exactly, but i'm thinking perhaps department of mysteries. something about the challenge of deciphering mysteries sounds appealing," she responded smiling and thinking about the future. she was hoping her life would turn out just the way she had hoped. she wanted a job in the ministry of magic, just like her father had, and she wanted to be successful at it. she could picture herself working to figure out mysteries, whether that involved magical creatures or mysterious deaths. she knew she was capable of a lot, and wanted to explore that. then, once she was secure in her job, she would get married and have children. first she needed to find a man though. but there were lots of men out there, and she was sure one who deserved her would find her eventually. if not, she would find him.
aralynn thought about her family back home and the childhood memories of being yelled at. she had just owled with her mother last weekend, discussing with her school and a party her mother and father were to be throwing. aralynn was happy with the relationship she had with her mother. she was super close to her and loved her very dearly. her mother seemed to understand her when no one else did either. when alex had their brother to talk to, aralynn had her mom. aralynn laughed thinking about her mother in the garden once more. "but she would always let us stay out five more minutes," aralynn spoke, wondering what her mother would say to the girls now if they went out and laid in the gardens. aralynn bet she would still call them in, even though they no longer had bedtimes. "she'd always let us find one more constellation."
a silence fell between the girls as memories of yesterday floated around them. but soon that was followed by the real focus of tonight, and that was boys. alexandria asked aralynn about her dating situation and aralynn couldn't help but laugh out loud. "no one special. no one good enough to deserve me yet," she teased. "besides, who would i be to settle down? i'm still young and having fun. something you should do more of." aralynn did enjoy her fun, and a part of her was telling the truth. she wasn't ready to settle down yet, but the right man hadn't come along to sweep her off her feet. she still was able to use guys when she needed to, or sleep with them just for the hell of it. it was a good deal if you asked anyone. and of course there was always balthazar, one of her best friends who she just happened to fall into bed with the odd time no strings attached. it was the perfect situation. who would want anything different? aralynn would, eventually. but now wasn't that time, and she was telling the truth, alex should be getting out there more. she was pretty and smart and unrated. maybe she just needed a push.
"an issue?" aralynn spoke, sitting up. "what sort of issue are you talking about?" she laughed, wondering what on earth her sister was going on about now. "a meeting? you've got to be kidding me. a date? is that what you actually mean?" alex had a date, and she was in denial. complete and utter denial. "you have a date and you're in denial of it! i can't believe you don't think you've agreed to a date, not some sort of stupid meeting you knob," she teased. "my sister, on a date of denial. and with who? oh you have to tell me who it is! he needs the aralynn approval of course!" aralynn was excited. she was giggly and excited and slightly concerned about alexandria's denial about this date. the question was, did she have reason to be in denial? that was something aralynn was going to find out. she needed to know the who, the what and the where this was happening, and she needed to see if whoever had somehow managed to snag a date with her little sis was deserving of her.

In all honesty, Alex hadn’t considered the fact that Aralynn might want to go into the Department of Mysteries when she graduated from Hogwarts. It wasn’t as if she thought her sister wouldn’t make it, but she just never suspected that Aralynn would choose to go into a department like that. It was surprising. Alex thought, if she would go into the Ministry, Aralynn would work with the International Quidditch Department. There she would be able to go and meet the famous Quidditch players and make connections and such with those type of people. Alexandria thought it would have been her brother of the three of them that would end up in a career like that. Though she figured all three of them had the potential to go into any of the departments they choose. Besides, they could all work in the Department of Mysteries but under different divisions. Really, there was enough that they’d have their separate work. She thought it would be a pretty interesting and fun career if both her siblings worked in the same department but a different division. Really, why would she not want to work with her siblings? She’d have enough of her independence even then anyways. Nothing bad would come out of it.
Though she figured it would be pretty boring at home if they ever saw each other. Sure, she loved her siblings and everything, but she really didn’t think she could see them everyday of every week, both in home and at work. After all, even if they were in different divisions, Alex thought it would be best to just have space. Perhaps she’d work with the regulation of magical animals. That was always interesting, with the new laws and everything. An auror was out, but perhaps another department in the Ministry. Which other one? She hadn’t any idea. "Department of Mysteries huh? Well, that’s a surprise, but I’m sure you’ll do great. Do you know which division you want to go into?" She hadn’t thought about what she wanted to do yet, but she pondered the Department of Mysteries. It seemed challenging, as Aralynn stated. Alex still had two more years though, and so she pushed the thoughts of her future career towards the back of her mind. For now. "I’m still not sure what I want to go into…but I still have two years, right? Besides, I really need to focus on my OWLs this year."
Her green eyes stayed focused on the stars above them. A light, almost carefree smile had spread across her face as she noted the constellation they would almost always find during their stargazing as children. Pegasus. She really did like the constellation, probably because of the memories that came with it. Reaching up with her hand, she pointed towards the constellation, as she had always done when they were children. "Look, it’s the Pegasus Constellation." she stated, letting her hand just drop down onto her stomach, on top of her other hand. She remembered the times their mother would always shake her head at them before heading in, only to call them in a few minutes later. Sometimes she’d even join them in stargazing, pointing out a new constellation or helping them find a new one. Really, it was one of the only times Alex had with her sister. "Remember, sometimes, when she didn’t have anything else to do, she’d come and join us in our search." the fond tone in her voice was obvious in her smile as her eyes flickered towards her elder sister.
Alex turned her head to glance at her sister, catching her eye before turning back to the stars. "No one deserves you, but someone has to be close enough, right?" she wondered if Aralynn ever fell in love with one of her…conquests. She hadn’t heard anything from anyone or Aralynn herself, but Alex knew love was a sort of delicate topic for her sister. Sure, she’d sleep around, but she’d never said anything about being in love or something of that sort. Alexandria was always a bit confused as to the relationship stuff, even though she may be intelligent in everything else. Aralynn, however, was intelligent in both; but Alex sometimes just didn’t understand what Aralynn was talking about when it came to love. What was so fun? She didn’t know; really, she didn’t. "Well…you don’t have to settle down to be in a relationship…do you? I mean…it-it’s not always that serious…is it?" Great. Now she was confused.
"What do you mean a date? Isn’t that supposed to be all day or at night or something? We’re only meeting up in the morning ‘cause I’m hanging out with you guys." Of course, by you guys, she meant both Aralynn and their brother. "Besides…he didn’t call it a date or anything, so it can’t be one." she stated almost in a resolute tone. Really, what was Aralynn thinking? Her on a date with Lockheart? Impossible. At least…she didn’t know it was date. She was honestly confused about it. "Aralynn, I think being young and having fun seemed to do something to your brain. It’s not a date." she laughed lightly. Really, it wasn’t. Why on earth would she agree to a date without even asking her siblings first? Impossible. She didn’t want to tell her with who though. She knew her siblings didn’t particularly like Lockheart…at all. Bloody hell! She didn’t even like the lying idiot all that much! Why would she agree to a date of all things? She just agreed because she owed him for asking her to lunch…was that a date then? Sweet Merlin, she was confused. "You’ve just confused me Lynnie. Thanks a lot." she pouted. She really didn’t understand this whole ‘date’ thing.

W E ' L L W A T C H T H E B U I L D I N G S T U R N T O D U S T -- * a sky of diamonds just for us
though aralynn knew she wanted to go into the department of ministries and work for the department of mysteries, she wasn't entirely sure where she wanted to focus. she knew she just wanted to do something good with her life and become successful in the wizarding world. she wanted her name to be known, and she wanted to work hard for that. maybe figuring out a world secret would do just that. but aralynn wasn't sure. "i'm not really sure where i want to specialize yet. i guess i just want to do something that someday people will know and remember my name. and for something other than just being a pureblood wizard." she sighed, and let out a small laughing thinking about alex contemplating her future. "you definitely have time. when i was fifteen i had no idea what i wanted to do. i knew that i had to work hard to do well on my OWLs and that i wanted to continue doing well, but i had no idea where i wanted to end up. boy how that feels like so long ago." aralynn suddenly felt very old and grown up. sometimes alexandria did that to her. it was as if being around alex suddenly made aralynn more of an adult. she had to be the responsible, big sister who went on to do well in society and succeed and be happy in life. she hated when her sister saw her being weak. she wanted to be strong for alex and show alex that she would always be there for her and that she was her tough older sister that no one could mess with. but she also wanted alex to be strong for herself, and she was. but aralynn also knew alexandria had a lot of learning to do.
as thoughts ran through her head, she noted the pegasus constellation and smiled. "yeah i see it," she noted looking up into the endless sky. memories of their mother laying on the ground with them floated through her head. these memories, these precious memories meant so much to aralynn. no one could ever know that. "i always loved when she did that. all us girls laying out under the stars. it almost felt magical at times." aralynn's gazed turned to the sky again and she spotted some more constellations. she held her hand up to the sky, pointing out for alex. "there's the big dipper. and ursa major."
aralynn listened as alex spoke that no one was ever good enough for her. she laughed. "i suppose you're right. no one will ever be good enough for the ever famous, high maintenance aralynn chantelle nott," she spoke with a hint of sarcasm in her voice. alexandria then began to ramble away and aralynn laughed with what she was hearing come from alex's lips. alex truly didn't know a thing or two about boys and relationships, did she? well aralynn was lucky, she guessed, as from a fairly young age she had been flirty and interested in dating and using boys. and she was privileged enough to have multiple men fall at her feet over the years. "oh alex, you really don't have a clue do you? you don't have to settle down for a relationship. relationships and boys can be fun, you just have to make sure you're both on the same page," aralynn began. she felt as if she were going into lecture mode, but perhaps her logic would help alexandria out. "i mean, sure i've dated guys in the past, but nothing has been serious and i haven't been interested in anything serious. they know that. we just have fun while we're together. and well, some of the others, it depends. some guys are just a one time thing, and if that's alright with them, that's alright with me. others, just happen. look at balthazar and i for example. we're super close, but we flirt and sometimes sleep together, and that's how we like it." she hoped she was helping alex, at least a little and not making her confused. what worked for aralynn, worked for her, but might not for others. but all aralynn thought about was being honest with the other person. that was more or less how she operated, unless it was for some sort of strategy or plot for take down. "but i can't preach about love and being in love, because that my dear, is something that has yet to happen to me." aralynn paused for a moment, thinking about that statement as the taste of it still lingered in her mouth. "can i tell you a secret though lex? i'm ready to be in love and i want to be in love. i want someone to love me, and i want to love them. i'm ready. hopefully the fates will agree with me," she laughed, almost trying to brush the comment off. she had never admitted that out loud yet, but she was sure her secret would be safe with her sister.
turning the attention back to her sister, she couldn't help enjoy the almost panic that subdued her sister, in a playful way of course. alexandria was freaking out over a date she did not realize she had agreed to. "well, what exactly did he say? and it doesn't matter what time it is. it can be any time during the day as long as its two people doing something together. anything can be considered a date. even a morning meeting." she took into account what her sister was saying and nodded, thinking. "why would he tell you it was a date if he knew you were going to freak out like this? perhaps he knows you lex and made you think it wasn't a date to agree to going out with him, but secretly, it's a date." she stared at alex and couldn't help the gigantic smirk that was emerging from her lips. "you've got yourself a date lex! and you still haven't told me who the lucky guy is. who weaseled their way into a date with you?" she couldn't help but laughing and giggling through most of this. how could alexandria, her sister, really be this clueless. obviously aralynn hadn't done her job as a big sister properly.

It was understandable, wanting to be someone instead of just a name. Or in Aralynn’s case, a pretty face attached to a name. Alex wouldn’t want that either. Really, the more she thought about it, the more she found Aralynn working in a complex division like time or something similar. Her sister always seemed to rise to challenges, and wasn’t afraid to use any asset she had to get through it. Something as complex as time would be a match for her eldest sibling. At least, Alexandria thought so, in terms of giving Aralynn a challenge. Besides, it fit in with what her sister wanted to do, right? Doing something with the mysterious concept that was time would get her name in the books quicker than Alex could blink. Though she didn’t know whether or not Aralynn would be particularly interested in time. She supposed she should know, but sadly, she didn’t. Just to show she wasn’t as close with Aralynn as she was with Theo or their father. "I get what you mean. I don’t see you in the love department though; it seems too…obvious for you." She didn’t mean the concept of love was obvious to her sister, because no one knew it. Even those people in love didn’t. The love division almost seemed like an obvious place for Aralynn to work in, all things considered.
"I see time being something you could go into. I mean, it’s interesting, right? Time?" She still wasn’t sure whether or not her sister would like it; but time seemed to be the most complex thing ever. Especially with the concept of time traveling. It presented a continuous challenge; something Aralynn may - or may not - enjoy. She nodded in agreement at Aralynn’s words. "Well yeah but it never hurts to start planning early, right?" she smiled a bit, her green eyes just gazing up at the stars. Her wandering eyes stopped looking for shapes and constellations for a few minutes, just gazing up at the numerous stars above them. "I want to be put down in books too." she murmured, her tone light, as if any louder and the stars would fall out of the sky.
Her eyes went to the big dipper before taking in the ursa major. Laughing lightly Alexandria remembered how Aralynn would always name the bigger constellations, while she would name it’s corresponding smaller constellations. If it had one anyways. "Mmhmm. Oh, and the Little Dipper there…and Ursa Minor there!" she continued on with the tradition, a tranquil smile on. Really, it wasn’t often it was just her and her sister together. Usually their brother would be with them, or they wouldn’t be together at all. It was sad, really. She continued to search the sky until she was able to make out a figure through the stars themselves. Sometimes, she’d make her own figures in the stars. "The Hydra." she pointed out. Her search didn’t end, as she was searching for her favorite constellation in the starry sky. Of course, she really didn’t have to ‘search’ for it, it was her favorite constellation for a reason, though she liked saving it for last. "Though there are people close enough." she reminded, her eyes flickering towards her sister for only a brief moment. The sarcasm was not lost on her, as little as it may have been. Alexandria used sarcasm far too much to miss it, even if it is an underlying tone.
Her attention turned towards Aralynn as she noted the slightly wistful tone of her sister. She may not have seemed like it, but Alex thought her sister was a romantic. She wanted someone to come and sweep her off her feet. She wanted real love. Alex did too, but she didn’t know what to expect. "Well, shouldn’t a relationship have a foundation or something?" she didn’t think that it was possible to have a relationship and not have any feelings whatsoever. Then again, she didn’t even know she was agreeing to a date, so she couldn’t talk. "Look, Lynnie," Alex’s green gaze was on her sister, an uncharacteristically soft look in them. "You’ll fall in love. I bet, it’ll sneak up on you. Catch you off guard." she couldn’t help but laugh lightly, a light smile gracing her face as she looked into her sister’s eyes. "It’ll happen, big sister. Don’t worry about it." She reached out and lightly tapped the hand closest to her, before returning to her previous position, gazing up at the stars. Love. It was always such a foreign topic to her. Alexandria really was clueless about it, but she hoped she would find it. She knew Aralynn would find it. Fate had a strange way of leading people like Aralynn - who were young and having fun - to love. To be honest, Alex thought Aralynn’s love story would be a cute one. Most especially since she seemed to not care about falling in love, to others.
But Alex knew better. She almost always did.
She also knew that Aralynn would ‘blow her top’ once she found out who she was going on a ‘date’ with. Alex refused to call it that; it was simply a thank-you meeting for the company at lunch…and she couldn’t find herself to say no and bruise Lockheart’s rather fragile ego more. Times like this she really cursed the fact that she was more sympathetic than she allowed others to see. "He just asked if I wanted to go to Hogsmeade…but I didn’t know it was a date!" she argued. Really, she just thought it was a meeting. Besides, she felt rather bad that Lockheart didn’t really have anyone not-so-annoying to spend time with. "I just felt bad that he didn’t have anyone that wasn’t annoying to go with…" and she did. She really did. It was one of the reasons that she agreed in the first place. Well, that and she felt bad for embarrassing him in front of the entire Great Hall.
"And he doesn’t know me…we don’t even like each other." At least, most the time they didn’t. He just got on her nerves, and she took to ignoring him. Lockheart, being the attention-seeking liar he was, just got on her nerves more and probably thought her to be a snob. "If I had known it was a date I would have never agreed." she sighed almost frustrated. Did he even know it was a date? Dear Merlin, if he did, then Alex would have some serious hexing to do…though she rather hoped Aralynn and Theo wouldn’t find out. Otherwise Lockheart would probably be in the Hospital Wing for the next month and then she would feel guilty.
"Promise you won’t get mad?" she asked almost childishly. It was a side she barely let anyone see. The soft, timid side that didn’t know what to say most the time. "iknowyoudontlikehimbutitslockheart." she quickly muttered, hoping with all her heart that Aralynn either didn’t understand her or didn’t hear. She really really was beginning to regret the decision to ‘meet’ Lockheart at Hogsmeade in the morning.
Really, she did.
