It was 5am. Bryanna woke up, called her husband to find out where he was, got his answering machine and gave up. As was the routine every morning. The consideration he had for her had been minimal since they'd been married. She missed the honesty and specialness of a loving relationship sometimes, but she knew that she was just facing the consequences of her actions. There was nothing she could do about it. She wasn't the type of woman to have an affair, she had more integrity than that. Furthermore she didn't need an affair. She had loved only two men in her life. One was her abusive husband and the other was a man that she was certain would never speak to her again. Her eyes pricked at the thought but she hastily rubbed her eyes clean. What a waste of time it would be to cry. She made her bed now she was going to lie in it.
She got dressed, the cold air of the room her only embrace. She made herself breakfast, sitting at the table alone reading the Daily Prophet. The happiest part of her day was going to work. She apparated without a single further thought of what had once been. This was her life now; and her husband as allowed to do as he pleased. She couldn't stop him, just like he didn't stop her going to work. He did create a dispute about it though. He couldn't understand why she'd want to spend her day at work rather than keeping the house clean. He hated it when he got home and the house wasn't spotless. The worst was when he came home and she had no idea yet what she was doing for dinner. She had bruises from those fights. Being a healer worked to her advantage though, because she knew how to cover up the bruises and injuries.
She would never admit anything that her husband did to her. The morsels of feeling she held for him prevented her from speaking ill of him behind his back, mixed in with a little bit of fear about what would happen if she did. She didn't like to think about it. Arriving at work was her sanctuary. it gave her a chance to escape from all these thoughts. She looked at the charts, checking what patients she had today. most of them were the typical visitors. The ones that were always getting into duels they weren't ready for. Some of them were just people that got bullied a lot. Her supervisor's voice boomed through the speakers announcing that a new patient had just arrived in the hospital and they needed someone to attend to him immediately. Bryanna presumed that the other healers would be busy and since she hadn't started doing her patients yet, she figured she had time to deal with this one.
She walked up to the front desk, her body straightening like a gong had just gone off in her head as she maintained her professional. She asked where the patient was and the receptionist pointed to a man in the waiting area. Bryanna turned to look at him for herself and grew white. Was that him? Her heart was beating against her chest with nerves. He must hate her after what she did to him. There was no way to treat him without making it personal, so she tried to turn away but it was too late. He'd spotted her. She hoped and prayed that he could try to remain civil to her as she walked up to him. "Hi I'm Mrs Wright, I'll be your healer today." she stated bravely, her eyes dodging his face as she spoke.

This morning had been to say the least eventful. Edric and a group of hit wizards had been tracking a dark wizard who had been taking muggles off the streets and using them for let’s just say not so very nice things. They had been looking for his bloke for three months now. They had always been so close to tracking down the guy and then he ended up being five steps ahead of the group of hit wizards. Though through many hours spent in the office and outside searching around, they had gotten a tip from a source that he was hiding out in a warehouse by the loading docks of the Thames. So that’s where they were now, hiding behind the building watching and waiting for the wizard to show up. They didn’t want to cause a whole scene because if muggles lives were in danger they couldn’t risk it, that’s all they would need. Muggle where never to know about magic at all and the secret world that was going on right now around them at this very moment. The only time that muggles ever knew about the wizarding world was when one of their children is chosen to become a student at Hogwarts, and even then some families don’t understand it.
Edric’s mother had so understanding when she had found out about her only son, at the time, as a wizard. Of course his father was never there to see that day but Edric knew he was there in spirit and always looking out for his son, because Edric hadn’t died when so many times he had hoped it would happen just to get Bry out of his mind. When his mother had remarried, his new family was also understanding of the whole thing. They were very close family; he never had to worry about disappointing his mother or his step-father. That had been the best years of his life, and he really hated that he had pushed all of them away. But he just couldn’t deal with everything that was going on, he was young and stupid and he couldn’t go back now. He had to shake away his thoughts as another hit wizard pointed ahead. There moving like a cat in the night was the dark wizard they were looking for. It was time to move out and take him down, or bring him in. Of course every time they hunted down a dark witch or wizard they wanted to bring them in, find out what they knew and where the dark lord was hiding. But of course that didn’t always work out and they never made it back to the Ministry.
Everything happened so fast, they stormed the warehouse and of course, the dark wizard wasn’t the only one in there. A group of them were there. A full out battle happened, there were hex’s and curses flying around. Edric managed to hit at least two death eaters before one stuck him with a hex, his whole body shot with pain and he hit the floor, two long marks ripping into his shirt and leaving two long marks across his chest where the stinging hex hit, it was like being hit by lighting, ten times worse over. One of the other hit wizards raced over and tried to pick up the wounded Edric, while trying to fight off the other wizards. Then the stupid bloke tried to burn down the whole building with all the hit wizards in it. That’s when his junior officer, the hit wizard who at this moment was holding up Edric, put one arm over his shoulder and transported the both of them to the St. Mungo’s hospital. Of course everyone in the waiting room made shock noises as the both of them stand there, Edric wounded, and Lance, his junior officer, his jacket full of burn marks, they were quite a pair standing there in the middle of all the other people waiting to get in.
But of course, being part of the Ministry was a big deal. So Lance put Edric down on one of the waiting room chairs and looked down the long line of people waiting to get it. He moved past them and right up to the front desk. When he flashed his Magical Law Enforcement Department badge to the girl at the front desk, she stopped want she was doing and made a phone call to what Lance would think the person in change to send a healer right away. Lance nodded and walked back to where Edric was sitting there. Edric was in pain, but it hadn’t been the firs time he had gone to the hospital, they couldn’t have gone to a normal muggle because the doctors would have looked at him, like you look like you have been struck by lighting by why are you still alive, and they wouldn’t know how to deal with it there. Because the marks from the hex where getting deeper and longer as they waited for the healer.
Because this was what magic did to you, any muggle doctor would have no idea about what to do. It would more than likely leave a scar, but of course it would add to the already ones that marked the wizards body. He happened to look up and his eyes locked onto a woman. A woman he knew for sure was the same women that had broken his heart and threw him away like nothing. Anger came over him but he winced because of the pain. When she started to walk towards him, he turned his head away from her, he didn’t want to even look at her for the moment, he could bring himself to do it. How could he look at a woman who ruined his whole life. He smirked,“Bry”,he spat through his closed teeth, because of the pain that was going through his body at the moment. It was a bad pain, but at the same time it was a pain he knew, because he had used it to drown out her memory and now here she was standing right in front of her. Lance shook his head and looked at the women, “I am sorry ma’am, please lead the way”. He shot Edric a look before he turned back to Bryanna a smile on his face. Oh Edric could have killed the both of them right there on the spot if he could move his body right now.

Bryanna kept looking at her chart very evasively, even though the two men had only just come in and didn't yet have a chart. So actually, she was pretending to be focused on a blank piece of paper. What did it matter, the man didn't want to look at her anyway. That was a fact she had long come to terms with. The man that Edric was with didn't seem to recognize that they had any associations, which made sense since Bryanna didn't recognize him. He clearly hadn't known Edric when they had been together. It seemed like an era ago now. She did as he companion commanded and led him to the nearest available suite. Her mind was still wincing from the fact he'd called her Bry. She was Mrs Wright now. Nobody called her Bry anymore. Her mother hadn't spoken to her since she moved out, her father was only interested in Mrs Wright and she might as well have no name with her husband.
The walk to the suite seemed endless, her eyes kept glancing at the wounds and then she took notes on her clipboard, awkwardly chewing the bottom of her pen after each sentence. She felt a little nervous. They hadn't seen each other in so long, she didn't think she'd ever see him again. She wished she hadn't, her life was doing fine without him. it wasn't perfect, or anything close to perfect, but nobody had a perfect life anymore. That was for the movies. Bryanna immediately sentenced his junior officer to the adjacent bed and helped Edric onto his own mattress. They were going to need a healer each, with the intensity and depth of these wounds. "That's a nasty stinging hex" she commented, inspecting the marks then leaving the room for a minute. When she emerged, she had a wooden bowl and warm water with a cloth.
The cloth was drowned in healing water. She dipped her hand into the bowl, swirling the cloth around the water to soak up all the healing water she could. "Your going to have to take off your shirt." she said meekly, "or if your in too much pain, i could do it for you." she looked at the floor, unable to believe she was professionally obliged to offer to take off his shirt. Time was, that was a personal obligation not a professional one.

Edric really didn't want to be here right now. He would take weird look from muggle doctors over being right here, right now with her. Of all the healers in this dam place it had to be her. Shouldn't she be home with her daring husband, the man she had chosen over him. No Lance knew nothing about Edric's past, he wasn't really the type to open up about everything that had happened during that time. Lance only knew the Edric here and now, the small time he had been at the Ministry that was the Edric he knew. But the man wasn't stupid, he could see his boss was acting different around this women but he kept his mouth shut because well he needed this job and really didn`t want Edric saying something about him so he just followed the women while helping Edric, so he could stand and walk with him. He had always called her Bry, never anything else well they were seeing each other, that all he had known to call him. Of course she wasn't just Bry anymore, she was someone’s wife and had her husband’s name. He made a noted to look up all the wrights at the Ministry; he wanted to see this guy she had left him for. He would never ever feel the same way about her again. There was no love there anymore; it would only be anger and hate, pain and nothing else.
Edric couldn't feel his body anymore, if it hadn`t been for Lance, he would have still been on the floor of that warehouse and he would have been burning alive right now, and if it wasn`t for Lance Edric wouldn't be standing up right now. This was the first time Edric had seen Bry in a very very long time. He didn`t know what was going to happen. She would heal him and that would be it, he would go back to the office with Lance and her back to whatever life she had and they would never see each other again, that’s what was going to happen. Edric would so need a smoke and a lot of drinks after this because that was how he dealt with pain of any kind. As they entered the room Lance went one way and Edric was helped by her onto the other bed. He still couldn't look at her as she spoke about his wounds and then left and came back. Lance stood up and looked at her.
I am fine ma’am just need a new jacket, it's him who needs to heal, make sure you take good care of him, and I'll leave you too it.
Lance bowed his head and shot Edric a smirk before he opened the door and left, now leaving him and Bry alone in the same room. Oh not a good idea Lance, I am going to kill you when I get back to the office. Of course he had been right; Edric had the wounds that needed healing. He watched as she brought in a bowl and a cloth. He tried to lift his arm, but just winced badly as he put it back down. Now if Lance had been here he could have helped, dam that boy. Just has he looked up at her, she was looking down at the floor. He took in with she had just said and grumbled a bit, but he knew that in order to get to his wound and heal it, his shirt would have to come off. Just get it over with , he said coldly to her, this time keeping his head up and not looking away from her. A face he had once been so deeply in love with, now he only saw hurt and anger when he looked at her.

Bryanna rolled her eyes. Somehow, she just knew he was going to make this personal. She imagined that any other nurse at Mungos, he would've at least had a curt politeness or a respect for the profession. She was trying not to make this about them, so she didn't appreciate his cold attitude. It almost made her reach for her wand and zip his lips shut, just so she wouldn't hear any more of his remarks. But she had to do what she prided herself on; being professional. He had some potential long-term damage and several tears to his skin. That was the problem at hand that she would deal with. Then he would walk out there and never see her again. Well, good. Because she was fine on her own. Or, married, but she rather called it on her own. She didn't feel very married at this point in her life. In fact most days it felt like she lived with a bully. But it was just a rough patch, it had to be, it couldn't last forever.
Her hands fumbled over taking his shirt off, realizing that doing it himself would unnecessarily aggravate the wound. She pulled it off and started to dampen the infected areas with healing water. It pained her to see his body so damaged, a tiny twinge of guilt plucking at her heartstrings. She pushed it aside, since she was certain he didn't ever think about her, except in revenge. He blatantly didn't care for her anymore. If it weren't for her caring nature, that should've been enough for her to stop caring about him. She hurt him, yes, but she couldn't take it back. She needed to stop dwelling on it. "I don't believe there's any permanent damage to the skin tissue" she pointed out, her eyes avoiding his and if she could close off her ears, she would have. She didn't want to give him a window to talk to her. It was clear all he felt toward her was anger and betrayal.
The problem was that the healing water wasn't enough to cure the underlying infected wounds. The blood cleared up nicely but he was going to need to drink some medicine to deal with the lingering internal damage. She walked over to a cupboard at the back of the room and came back with a small test tube of purple fluid and a glass. She used the agua charm to summon water inside the glass, then pouring the purple fluid inside. The essence of whatever was in the test tube swirled with the water, immediately becoming one fluid. "Here, take this. It'll stop the pain." she moved closer to him, hovering the glass over his face then tipping it once his mouth was in position to receive it. It would be less pain for him not to move right now.

Edric had tried not to make this personal. But how could he not make it personal to some point. It was her, if it had been anyone else he might have acted differently, or maybe it was because he was in a lot of pain right now. He didn’t know, all he knew is that Bry was right in front of him and he felt he had every right to be cold towards her after she had ruined his whole life. He would be glad when he got out of here, he would go on with his life like nothing happened. He knew tonight would be another drunken filled night, waking up in the morning and feeling like shit. Because that’s the only way he knew how to get her out of his mind. He had spent many nights trying to drink away her image from his mind and now she had just re-entered and who knew how many drinks it would take to get it back out again. Plus it would be a good way to deal with the pain coming from his new wound. Maybe if they had known each other on different terms he would have been a little friendlier, but he hadn’t seen this women still she ripped out his heart and left him standing alone in the pouring rain. That day still burned in his heart like a fire that wouldn’t go away.
If he could have pulled off his own shirt he would have. Or if Lance had stayed behind. The worst thing that boy ever did was leave the two of them alone. It’s going to be over soon, he thought to himself. Get the wound healed, and then just walk out like nothing had happened and he had never seen her again. Go on like this part had never happened. His body was lined with small and big scars, from many different attacks and battles. A small burn across his right shoulder from couple of years ago when he was in the military and it went on and on. He could name where each one came from or where he had been. He had been damaged so much that he didn’t care how much pain he was in, it would just add onto the years he had been in pain. He was still in pain really. He didn’t care if it was another scar; maybe this one would put him out for good. He wanted to talk to Bry normally, but the way things were he just couldn’t. Everything he wanted to say to her came out mean and cold and every time he thought he could say something at least nice, he didn’t say it because he knew it would end up coming out cold. He nodded his head taking it in when she said that there wasn’t any permanent damage. Well that was good to hear at least.
He watched her as she moved over to grab something from the cupboard in the room. He nodded when she said it would stop the pain. Normally he could handle pain, I mean he had caused pain to himself a lot of times, and had pain caused onto him so he was used to it. But it would be nice to not feel pain, some other way then alcohol. He couldn’t move right now so when she brought it over to his mouth, he opened his mouth and let the liquid fall into his mouth. When it was all gone, he could feel it start to work already. His body was starting to feel much better and he could feel his strength coming back slowly but it would take some time to get back to normal even with the help of whatever she had given him. Out of nowhere he spoke looking up at her, “Thank you", this time he was sweet with his voice. He didn’t know if it was because of the pain, or because he was feeling better that he had changed his tone of voice, or maybe it was because of her his wound of heal and the pain had gone. He had to respect her because this was her thing, she was doing her job, he was sure she didn’t care who came into the hospital if they were hurt she would take care of them, just like she was doing now.

Bryanna was more than happy to go on after this like it never happened. It should've never happened. It was just dumb luck that it did. She just happened to be on call when he was hurt, he just happened to be hurt when she was on call. He just happened to be there and she just happened to work at Mungo's. A string of coincidences led to their meeting. At the same time though, she had glad she saw him today. She had lost so many nights of sleep wondering if he was okay, whether he was safe, how he was doing and whether he was happy. She didn't learn much from seeing him today but knowing he was alive and okay was more than she knew this morning. That thought alone would've had her hugging him, in different circumstances. There was no permanent damage to his body, so he was safe. He was okay. She could live off that knowledge and move on.
Although she had to admit she couldn't remember quite so many scars and afflictions on her body when she knew him. As a healer it was probably best she asked about them but she had a feeling he'd tell her to mind her own business. Fortunately the medication she was giving him dealt with any physical pain, so anything else that was hurting him would soon subside too. She tried not to focus too much on his face, that sweet face she once loved. Her eyes kept busy and focused. She was married now, there was nothing either of them could do about that. The damage was done. She had hurt him. She needed to suffer the consequences, she deserved it. If she were talking to Edric he'd have told her the same thing. She watched him take the medicine. "It should work instantly" Bryanna told him so he could feel whether it was working or not.
Bryanna was taken back by his sweet tone of 'thank you'. A soft smile grew upon her features. "Your welcome" she said quietly, avoiding his gaze. She didn't want to see the pain in his eyes again. She couldn't take it. She was beating herself up enough already. A strand of hair came out from the side of her face and Bryanna pulled it back behind her ear. She gave a brief examination of the wound after he took the medicine. It wasn't perfect, like crystal clear back to normal. But there was instantaneous improvement, which meant the medicine had worked properly. One of Bryanna's supervisors came up behind her, tapping her on the shoulder. Bryanna -- it's your break the woman said and Bryanna gave a nod saying that she understood. The woman walked away and Bryanna was thankful that her break came after she was pretty much done healing Edric anyway.
"I guess your good to go then." Bryanna told him, turning away so that he could put his shirt back on without her watching him. Not daring to turn back to him, Bryanna walked away and went into the small restaurant area of the hospital so she could buy some lunch and think about the events that unfolded today.
ooc: we can leave it there or he can follow her. up to you ^^ if you want to end it could you start the next thread since i started this one? either way i can't wait to delve deeper into these two <3
