dementor: on october 12, 1970 james blanchard and his wife christiane were driving from their house in london to james's parents house in liverpool. the couple got into a serious car accident caused by a drunk driver and severely injured chris while killing james instantaneously. if chris had the choice of dying or reliving that moment she'd chose death.
veritaserum: in her seventh year at hogwarts her ex-boyfriend spiked her drink and took advantage of her while she was passed out. a few weeks later she found out she was pregnant, but gave the child up for adoption once she had it. after graduation she isolated herself from everyone to give birth to the child in secret, and she has managed to keep it secret to this day.

personality: sociable, friendly, charismatic, organized, and deeply insecure are words people often use to describe ms chevalier. without a question the most dominant character traits she possesses is massive charisma and desire to be around people. from the time she was a little girl christiane was always interested in learning about different cultures of the world, and she managed to be enthusiastic whenever meeting new people. this intense need to know people instead of just meeting them is very apparent in her class; chris wants to understand her students because she believes that is the only way she'll ever be able to teach them. a lot of her radiance and enchantment comes from her veela heritage.
to some extent she is obsessed with keeping things neat and organized. her classroom is completely spotless, and if she gives out detention she usually makes her students clean some area of her room. not only does she keep her surroundings clean, but she is also very particular about personal hygiene. a lot of this attributes to her dark past and the fact she always feels dirty to a certain extent.
her father is an artist and her mother used to act leaving her with a love of the arts. during the summer she performs in plays amongst the muggles for fun, and when she is alone in her room she recites excerpts from her favorite plays in front of the mirror. theatre arts has become a bit of a trademark for her, and it is certainly something she can call her own within the walls of hogwarts. most of the professors and students didn't have exposure to the arts like she has had. despite the fact she loves art and likes to think she can draw, christiane has no talent in painting, drawing, or landscaping.
past her exterior happiness and bright smile rests a darkness. after she was taken advantage of in her seventh year chris changed. when a man touches her or even kisses her she gets exceedingly nervous. the only man who she was ever able to go all the way with without being afraid was her late husband, and after he died she practically gave up on love. nobody knows about how damaged she really is except for her sister, marie.

Born in Paris, France to Jean and his veela wife Eliza Chevalier. She was the first child of three born into the family, but she was not an only child for long; two years later her sister Marie was born, and then two years after that Lanette was born. A lot of the family teased Jean about having so many women in the house, but the loving father eventually confessed that he loved his girls even though they drove him nuts to some extent. Once all the children were born the family decided to move from France to London after Jean got an excellent job as the ambassador to France in the British Ministry. Even though the Chevalier children were born in France they consider England their home.
As Christiane grew up she learned to be a lady from her mother, and her father taught her basic wizard terminology. Once she turned elven she received her acceptance letter for Hogwarts, and she considers it one of the happiest days of her life. When she arrived at the school she was sorted into the house of Ravenclaw without a hesitation, and years after her sorting her sisters were sorted into the same house. Chris's years at Hogwarts consisted of some of her best memories along with some of her worst. In her fifth year she was made prefect, and learned she had quite a talent for Defense Against the Dark Arts. Her OWL marks were excellent, and the professors could see she had a bright future ahead of her. In her sixth year she met and fell in love with a fellow Gryffindor named Wesley Hughes. Their relationship was stormy and rather tumultuous, and eventually she broke up with him early in their seventh year. It was obvious Wesley did not want the relationship to end.
During the spring of her seventh year she attended a party thrown by a couple of her friends, and unbeknown to her Wesley was planning on attending as well. To make a long story short the young man was furious at Chris and spiked her drink before raping her. When she woke up she had no idea what had happened, but a few weeks later the mediwitch informed her that she was pregnant. With a few months left before graduation Chris refused to quit now, and she covered up her pregnancy with baggy clothes and the excuse that she had 'gained weight.' After getting her degree she went away on her own to have the baby, and gave it up for adoption to a nice, muggle family. Hurt and humiliated the young woman only spoke to her sister, Marie, about what happened.
After the whole baby issue was taken care of she went on to do an internship at the Ministry under the Department of Law before applying to Hogwarts as the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor. The headmaster recalled the young woman's knack for the subject and sensed a woman in need of meaning in life and granted her the position. Once she established herself, and both of her sisters graduated with jobs her parents retired and moved back to France. Her father became an artist and her mother got a teaching position at Beauxbatons.
On June 3, 1968 Christiane Chevalier met James Blanchard at a Quidditch game. He was the keeper for the Holyhead Harpies, and after the game the two ran into each other. James was immediately entranced by her, and after chatting for a while James asked Chris out on a date. Unsure about herself and unwilling to start another relationship Chris declined the offer. A couple days later the two ran into each other in Hogsmeade, and out of curiosity Chris agreed to go on one date with him. James ended up being the love of her life and after eight months of dating James proposed to Christiane after one of his matches in front of a stadium full of people. Their wedding was small and intimate. Chris felt like she could tell James anything, and he understood all of her history.
The couple thought they were going to have forever together, but after scarcely a year of marriage James was killed in a car accident. The two of them were driving to James's family's house to visit when they got into a horrible car accident. In the muggle hospital Chris was stabilized, but she suffered from a severe concussion, a few broken ribs, loss of blood, and a broken arm. When she was completely conscious she asked to see her husband. The doctors simply shook their heads and Chris knew that meant he hadn't made it. When she finally recovered from the accident she went back to work immediately to try and forget about the death of her husband.
Chris still believes in love, but she doubts that anyone will be able to fill the hole James's death left. Someday she plans to adopt a child because they had expressed their desire to have children even after Chris's former bastard.
