andromeda ursula black
full name: andromeda ursula black
age: sixteen
year: sixth
birthday: june seventeenth
blood line: pureblood
occupation: student
house: slytherin
APPEARANCE
hair color: brunette
eye color: green-gray
body type: slender
How do I describe Andromeda Black? At first glance she appears to be quite similar to her elder sister, Bellatrix. But this is just at a first glance. Where Bellatrix is slightly gaunt, pale and has a head of raven black hair, Andromeda retains a slender figure, yet is notably fuller in the face, is not quite so pale as her sister and has a dark brunette color to her hair. One of the more pronounced features of Andromeda's appearance are her eyes, which appear to be the color of clouded emeralds. The reason this is abnormal is that not many Black women have these jewel colored eyes, instead having a stormy gray blue, or plain old gray. These eyes house not only a beautiful green hue, but they are filled with a burning devious, yet playful, fervor most uncommon to Black women.
While not the tallest of the Black daughters, Andromeda still retains some height standing at a respectable five foot six inches. And thanks to her mothers' endless poise lectures, Andromeda carries herself like a true woman of the Black House. However, this poise has certainly ebbed over the past while. Now that she has finally let her hair down a bit, Andromeda doesn't necessarily keep herself as lady-like as she she should (according to her family), but as they say, old habits die hard. Overall, Andromeda is a rather beautiful young woman and has had her fair share of suitors over her years at Hogwarts. But, of course, she respectfully declined most of them as her parents are to choose her future husband as they have done with Bellatrix. She does carry herself well, albeit a few slips along the way, and is a rather pleasant young lady.
PERSONALITY
likes: reading, charms, flying, her sisters, her cousin sirius, autumn, tea, writing, gobstones, chatting with friends.
dislikes: her mother, to an extent, cold, coffee, being ignored, being taken for granted, disloyalty.
ambition: to be come a fully qualified healer, to marry for love and not whoever her parents say she should, to be independent.
boggart: to do nothing with her life, to live a sheltered and meaningless life with no love, excitement or life.
dementor: andromeda's worst memory occurred around the age of nine whilst wandering through diagon alley with her father, and she ended up down knockturn alley alone. she was cornered by two old warlocks before her father eventually found her, scolded her and led her away. the guilt, horror, shame and regret she felt that day never truly left her.
patronus: her best memory? andromeda doesn't have one true happiest memory, but they are an amalgamation of her time with her sisters, when the trio were at their happiest playing together as sisters without a care in the world to separate them. her patronus takes the form of a fox.
amortentia: the smell of citrus fruits, the leather from the under-used drawing room that she and her sisters used to play in and a faint hint of mint.
After reading through this personality segment, you will see that Andromeda Black possesses not only a personality befitting a Slytherin student and a lady of the House Black, but that she is also fundamentally different in several aspects. First and foremost, Andromeda Black is independent. She is more than capable of living and leading her own life, regardless of what others may say or do to her, and she does so. All of her life she has had to abide by her parents' rules and live up to the expectations set down to her by her elder sister, even though she knew something felt ... deeply wrong. She has her own set of beliefs, beliefs that she firmly lives by and no one can lead her astray from these: she doesn't believe her parent's talk of muggles and 'mudbloods' and the like, nor does she care for these sentiments at all.
Apart from being an independent young lady, Andromeda is also deeply caring, loyal and kind. A kinder Slytherin you will find no where else. Once she has befriended you, regardless of your blood purity, gender, race or sexual orientation, Andromeda will be there with and for you through thick and thin until the end. She is a firm supporter of loyalty in all it's variations. Whenever she sees someone in need of a hand or a shoulder to cry on, she is there in a flash. In a way, she wears her heart on her sleeve and takes everything said and done to heart. But do not let this fool you, Andromeda Black is no pushover. Where she may differ from her siblings in way she most definitely is a Black when it comes to strength of will. Nothing gets this girl down and she is not scared to back away from a fight.
Andromeda is also a cunning young witch, when is required of her. A typical Slytherin in this way, Andromeda knows what she wants and will, by almost any means, achieve her goals. Whether it refers to her lessons or classes, or even in love, she will get her way eventually. Also, even though her family are rich beyond belief, she is still a humble and grateful young woman. She never takes anything for granted and is thankful for anything she receives, be they friends, gifts or otherwise. Over all, she is a kind and sweet young woman who is both a proud Slytherin and Black for the right reasons, whilst also detesting both for the other bad connotations they hold.
HISTORY
father: cygnus black
mother: druella black neè rosier
sibling(s): bellatrix black & narcissa black
Let me start by telling you that the birth of Andromeda was not necessarily the most joyous of occasions. There were no celebrations to be had, no parties or other such affairs; no. Her birth was seen as nothing more than the standard procedure of a young, pure of blood, married wizarding couple, especially of the House Black. Andromeda was seen as just another heir to the Black family, a daughter to raise and marry off to another pureblood wizard and, in time, provide more heirs to continue on the houses noble legacy. Andromeda, along with her elder and younger sisters, grew up under the hawk-eyed watch of their parents in the ancestral home of the most ancient and noble house of Black: 12 Grimmauld Place.
Andromeda's early years were perfectly normal, well for a young lady in the Black family anyway. She spent her time either with her mother who tried to instill within her daughters with the qualities that were becoming of young Black ladies; such as, but not limited to, poise, elegance, grace, cold detachment and the ability to mask your inner emotions from the world. Both her elder and younger sisters, Bellatrix and Narcissa respectively, excelled at their mothers teaching and Andromeda too followed suit in silence. For that was how Andromeda was seen by all at that young age, the quiet yet graceful middle daughter. Between Bellatrix's over-zealous attention to mother's teachings, the apple of her eye as it were, and the beautiful Narcissa who would bat an eye-lid at the shy young lady?
Over the following years Andromeda lived, what she would later look back on, as a rather repetitive life. Day after day of playing with her sisters, lessons in lady-like behavior with her mother and the occasional visit from their cousins, Sirius and Regulus. Andromeda found herself rather close with her cousin Sirius, as he was always laughing and a rather fun young man who could bring out the best in her. Andromeda's first surge of noticeable magic came about close to her seventh birthday. She was home alone with her father after a spell of feeling ill, while her sisters and mother went on a day trip to Diagon Alley, and was tidying up the third floor sitting room when a Doxy flitted out of the curtains and attacked her. It took only one quick and shrill scream and the window directly opposite he shattered and the Doxy was expelled with haste. Her father arrived a moment later and after hearing her excited story, he fixed the window with a wave of his wand and left, leaving his daughter feeling dejected and hurt. She never really felt confident in her magical talents after this occasion.
By the time Andromeda was eligible to attend Hogwarts, she had changed drastically as a person. Where once she had followed her parents lesson and teachings to the letter and kept a quiet and shy life, she was now not so sure of her families beliefs. Obviously she still payed lip service to her mother's exasperated barrages against muggles, mudbloods (a word she detested, personally) and blood traitors, but deep down she didn't care what blood a person was of or anything of the sort. Those lessons on masking her emotions sure did come in handy. Andromeda was then sorted into Slytherin house as all her family before her, well except Sirius of course who was in her year, but not the reason one might expect. Whereas the Sorting Hat had no qualms in sorting Bellatrix into Salazar Slytherin's noble house, he did hesitate with Andromeda. The Hat told her of her similarities with her family, but also of her differences. It spoke of her magical capabilities, her loyal heart and hard-working demeanor and was so close to sorting her into Gryffindor before it noticed her will to please her family, which allowed her to finally be sorted into Slytherin.
Andromeda is now entering into her sixth year after receiving O.W.L.'s in all over her subjects, currently studying the necessary subjects in order to become a full-fledged Healer in the future. She has since undergone a further change in disposition and is now significantly more vocal and sociable than she has been previously in her life. She does not live by her parents' rules regarding muggle and muggle-born wizards, or even what they refer to as "blood traitors", and chooses her friends for their integrity, loyalty and general personality. This has affected her relationship with her sisters somewhat, but she still dearly loves them with all her heart.

As she spoke, her foot kept tapping. So hard in fact it began to make an audible noise once Cersei had stopped speaking. Immediately she rose from her perch atop the arm of the chair and began to pace around to the back of said seat. That was one thing about Cersei, morphling or no, she was a constantly agitated lady who was always on edge. After listening to this little girl prattle on about how her 'plan', if there was even a plan, was going to be a secret and how she didn't need help. "Hah!" Cersei laughed internally, "The follies of youth ..." How old was this girl for pities sake? Fourteen? Fifteen? She wouldn't last five minutes in that arena with a secret plan, Cersei was sure of it. Who knows, maybe her plan was genius? Maybe she could single-handedly win the Games with it. But Cersei knew she could never accomplish anything without some essentials.
"Well, well, well," Cersei said snidely, to begin her tirade against this new Tribute. "So you have some master plan, eh? So I suppose you factored everything into consideration, right? You're telling me this plan of yours will get you through the bloodbath at the Cornucopia successfully? How about a career alliance? How can you be sure those you ally with don't slit your throat as you sleep? Can you be sure you'll survive any type of Arena the Gamemakers will throw at you? And are you sure you're sugary sweet enough to get the sponsors you will so desperately need? Answer me these questions, kid. Seeing as you seem to have all the answers." These were all valid questions, of course. But judging from the attitude this girl was exuding, Cersei was sure she'd have an answer for anything she'd throw at her. In some ways, Cersei saw a bit of herself in the girl but that was neither here nor there. If she didn't share some part of plan with her, this girl was doomed. She was young, impetuous, how could be sure she didn't overlook any crucial factors?
Nevertheless, Cersei maintained her composure and waited for the girl to reply. Fixing and straightening out her hair, Cersei stood as the boy tribute spoke up and now it was her turn to speak with him. His response didn't wow her by any means, he didn't give off that typical vibe that the career kids did. Especially not a District One career vibe, those boys were far more flamboyant about their strength and power not about their tactics. Maybe this one wasn't that stupid? That remained to be seen however. "Funny? Of course it's funny. I love watching kids like you two think you can win this without our help." True enough, most of the Tributes she'd had here before came in thinking they'd already won. They always thought they were too clever and didn't need us, this boy seemed an exception. "At least you don't seem as arrogant as little Miss Mysterious over here," Cersei said, indicating the girl with her head. "Velorum and I will do our best to get you sponsors, and trust me you will have plenty by the time we're through coaching you. Both of you. Ain't that right, Velorum?" The guy was still asleep. Typical. So she grabbed a book from the end table at her side and flung it in his direction. She was not about to mentor two little brats, even though the boy seemed a better choice right now. Almost as an after though she asked, "What are you're names anyway?"
