--------------------------------I think I'm falling in love with you My heart is beating faster than I want it to--------------------------------- Patrolling wasn’t something new to Lily. She had been doing it since last year when she was made a perfect. It gave her the opportunity to think things through. Think about the day ahead or relieving what had happened that day. It was very easy for Lily to get lost in her thoughts. It was also easy for students to sneak by her while she just stared straight ahead, lost in her own little world. Twice she had caught them at the last minute and gave them a good talking to before sending them off. Usually they would be in the library or out with a friend and had lost track of time. It wasn’t as if she had done that before when she was young. In her first year she claimed that she had gotten lost. And it was a valid excuse up to a point. Within a couple of months in their first years, the students were expected to memorize everything. It was a daunting task for some but for Lily it was a challenge. She could remember being completely overwhelmed and confused. Unlike other muggleborn students, Lily knew that she was a witch before she had gotten her letter. All thanks to one person, Severus Snape. She smiled softly as she remembered their first time meeting each other. It had been a long time ago. She didn’t know that there was a whole other world out there until he came along.
He was the one who had taught her about the Dementors and the wizard prison. Lily shook her head as she continued to pace the halls; her wand was gripped tightly in her hand. There was really no point in going back to the past. But she couldn’t help but to wonder what would have happened if the events from last year had not taken place. She would assume that they would continue to be friends. And then what was next? Romance? A family? Lily started to bite down on the inside of her cheeks. It was a habit of hers whenever she was thinking. It was not better than when she would twirl her hair in between her fingers during class hours. Lily blinked several times before coming to her surroundings again. She was up on the third floor. Her ears pricked forward. Something was telling her to be alert and cautious on this floor. And as to what that was, the red haired girl couldn’t quite place. She wanted to call out, asking if anyone was there but she stopped before she could even start. That would make her feel completely foolish and a child. Her eyes continued to sweep the hallway wearily. She pulled her black Hogwarts robe tighter against her. Her paranoia started to kick in. That was the worst thing when it came to the way Lily acted or behave.
She did not like the constant feeling that someone was watching or out to get her. And in this day in age one would have to be really careful. They could have been the next one to die. Their family missing. Lily shuddered. She had yet to tell her family about the up and coming war in the wizarding world. She knew that Petunia wouldn’t care. But their parents would. She knew that her mother would be asking a lot of questions. What was her position if there would be a fight? Had Hogwarts been under attack before? The corners of her lips twitched upwards into a slightly bigger smile. Hogwarts would never be under attack in her mind. She could remember people commenting that the castle would be safe as long as Dumbledore was still the Headmaster. After all, wasn’t that the one person that Lord Voldemort was afraid of? To Lily that was an added bonus. She felt perfectly safe in these walls and guarded. Outside the castle walls, things were different. That was a very scary thought. The world could change in an instant in this war. The Daily Prophet had reported that the Death Eaters were growing in numbers. More and more people were transferring over to the dark side and she wondered if they were doing it willingly or unwillingly.
While she was lost in thought she failed to hear a noise coming from the end of the hallway. That had pulled her out of her thoughts. Oh great, she thought as she started to run to the source. Potter better not be up to his pranking habits again. Speaking of James….she wondered what the idiot was doing. Probably lying low until I least expect it, she thought rather grumpily. An annoyed look flashed through her eyes as she pulled out her wand. She waited for the person to show themselves. [/blockquote] Tagged!? Since moving out of his childhood home, Sirius Black taken every opportunity to soil his family’s ‘good name’, however much trouble it might land him in. His pranking habits seemed to have increased tenfold in the past few months, his language steadily growing more vulgar with the passing time.
Despite the fact the boy had been blasted off the family tree, he figured his behavior was still a representation of how poorly he had been raised. If destroying Hogwarts was what it took to finally run his pureblood elitist relatives into the ground... then destroy hogwarts he would. Today though, he had opted for something a little less drastic. Firstly, charmed fireworks were far less dangerous than explosive spells and other Hogwarts-ending charms... and secondly... he didn’t really want to destroy Hogwarts at all. Not only would the end result mean a painstakingly harsh punishment from McGonagall (and perhaps even the wizarding authorities), but Hogwarts had been his home for the better part of six years. Heaven knew Grimmauld Place was the furthest place from ‘home’ to him. His family, his true family, had always been at Hogwarts. The marauders were his brothers in every way but blood, they were his best friends, his support system. Even McGonagall, strict as she might have been, was like a mother to him. In any case, she was the closest thing he had ever known to a mother... until he had moved in with the potters that is. She actually cared about his wellbeing, his schoolwork, his poor sleeping habits. The woman kept an eye out for him, let him get away with more than most students seemed to realize.
Dumbledore was the same he supposed, he and Mr Potter being two of the only positive male influences to ever enter his life. They may have been hard on him at times, but they cared. He knew the headmaster tried hard to stifle his laughter at the boys antics, knew all too well how much he Mr Potter enjoyed having him around. Sirius Black seemed to bring out the soft spot in even the hardest of people. He was like a lost puppy, able to bat his eyelashes and pout his way into the heart of almost anyone. There were exceptions of course, just as their always were. His parents were perhaps the most notable exception, his cousins, aunties and uncles coming soon thereafter.
Upon hearing the shuffling of footsteps, Sirius stopped what he was doing. Knowing all too well he was screwed without his friend’s invisibility cloak or a means of escape. There was absolutely no way out of the mess landed himself in. Whoever was standing around the corner was sure to catch him out. Unfortunately for Sirius, the girl around the corner was another exception to the rule. Lily Evans.
As much the boy pretended to understand his best friends fascination with the girl, he simply could not. Lily Evans was so up herself that there was barely room for the stick that seemed wedged up her ass. She was just so... aggravating. It was not that she was a bad person, not by any means, more so that she was blind. She was blind to James Potter. Sirius Black hated her... because she hated James. He just didn’t understand how someone could despise the boy that had essentially saved his life. He didn’t understand how someone could despise the boy who had taken him in when he had nowhere else to go. He just didn’t understand- and he didn’t want to. He didn’t want to understand Lily Evans... because she hated his best friend. She hated his brother.
“Boo!” Jumping out from his hiding spot, Sirius rolled his eyes in annoyance. Of all the people to find him on their rounds... it just HAD to be Lily Evans. “Now, what would the famous Miss Evans be doing out of bed at this hour?” He joked, shooting her his award winning smile.
He would be nice to her of course, for James’ sake- he could at least pretend to put up with her until she came to their senses.

--------------------------------I think I'm falling in love with you My heart is beating faster than I want it to--------------------------------- The annoyed look increased tense fold when she saw who it was. Honestly of all the people for Lily to caught walking around after curfew was Sirius Black. He was another one on her hate list. She quirked an eyebrow when he had asked her what she was doing after hours. She was caught off guard when he flashed her a smile and she could not help but to blush. “You flirt around too much Black,” She told him, putting her wand away in her pocket. Lily relaxed slightly but not all that much. Of course it was Sirius Black. Merlin knows what he was up to around this time at night. She had decided to ask him that. “What are you doing this late at night? Up to no good I presume Black?” For all of her dislike of the marauder boys, Sirius was probably running in second place. James would always be the first. Remus…well, he was a different story. Lily actually got along well with him. She propped her hands onto her hips giving him one of her famous glares. The ones that she reserved for the idiot boys. The red haired girl frowned at him. “What am I going to do with you Mr. Black?” The question was meant to be stern, but she smiled nonetheless.
Darn him and that smile, she thought furiously before blinking in surprise. Was she actually falling for it? Her face became stern again. “I suppose I could let you off with a warning this time….” It was hard to tell whether or not she was being serious. She had that fierce look in her eyes. Lily didn’t think that letting him go with a warning was the best way. She knew she had to obey the rules. Take house points away if a student was caught out after their curfew. But Black was in her house. Technically a housemate but someone she didn’t get along very well with. He was also someone that teachers would not mind if they took away a house point or two. Lily was sure that if she had taken away ten points from her own house he, along with the other Gryffindors, would probably hate her. She took another deep breath. “A warning Black. If I see you out this late again I won’t hesitate in taking away points from my own house. Even if I would have a lot of enemies at my back hating me,” She reached up and pushed a few strand of her hair out of her eyes. Lily grew quiet as she continued to eye him. What she had heard of him was that his whole family had been in Slytherin but somehow he had ended up in Gryffindor. Lily knew that siblings will, most of the time, be sorted in the same house. From what she had learned she also knew that generations of families will often be in a same house. With one or two…oddballs being in a different one. She knew that James came from an old pureblood family. The sixteen year old mentally groaned at the mention of his name.
Okay, this was not going well at all. Could there have been another person besides him that she could deal with? Once the question was out she could not help but to shake her head slightly. There were only a few people that Lily could deal with. And Sirius wasn’t one of them. An awkward silence started to spread. She shifted a bit uncomfortable. Her mind wracked to find something to say. “So I suppose you know why Potter doesn’t give up on me?” Crap! That was not it! Lily felt her cheeks turning red. She was completely embarrassed. “I mean…well….” She let he voice trailed off. She couldn’t believe this was happening. Lily could not believe that she was really giving Sirius the opening like that. It was common knowledge that the sixth year loathed the ring leaders of the so called Marauders. Potter and Black. Lily slightly shook her head to clear her thoughts again. Her mind was whirling. Many different thoughts were running through. Lily coughed a bit. Well….this wasn’t going well at all. Isn’t that just wonderful, she thought gloomily.
“Well….did you have a nice summer Black?” She was mentally kicking herself. Really Lily? That was all you’re going to say to him? There was a look of surprise on her face at her own words. What she wanted to say, what she wanted to do, was to take away twenty points and be done. That way she could be on her merry way to patrolling the hallways while James was doing…whatever it was that he was doing. But she was too nice for that. Lily had always been the kind of person to see the good in people. She believed in giving them second chances. And yet, she had never once given Black a chance. Lily had long ago believed that Sirius was free to do whatever he wanted. It would not change her mind about him at all. “Err…I know things between us have not been….at all very…friendly in the past….” Boy wasn’t this awkward. “I…err…realized that I haven’t given you the chance at all…” She wasn’t sure to why she was doing this. Maybe it was coming from her, finally, having giving James a chance. And of course she had yet to walk up to Potter to tell him that. She will do that on her own time. When she was ready and not a moment to sooner. [/blockquote] Tagged!? Siri <33 Words!? 929 Notes!? [((sorry if this is a little short and horrible, I’m on my phone but I really wanted to get something up <3)) ”I wasn’t flirting with you Evans...” He stated plainly, shrugging slightly at her. Though the darkness seemed to have shrouded the majority of his features, the boy knew all too well she had seen him smirk. Sirius Black only smirked when he was either a) flirting, or b) up to something. In this case... Sirius black was definitely up to something. If the smell of explosives in the air was not enough of a give-away... then the matches hidden behind his back certainly were. The boy knew how to talk his way out of a sticky situation however, and hence, he flashed the girl another of his award winning smiles. If smiling was what it took to get him out of his mess, than smile he would. ”I’m always up to no good” He stated, slipping the matches into his pocket at the first given opportunity. There was simply something magical about lighting a fuse manually after all, something almost surreal about the entire experience. Muggles did some things better... there was absolutely no doubt about it.
”Good on you Evans,” He smirked, ”breaking the prefect code of conduct... I’m so proud of you”. In all his years of marauding, not once had he ever counted on being ‘let off with a warning’- least of all by Lily Evans. The redheaded prefect seemed to have had it cut out for them since first year, having brought down her wrath at every given opportunity. What had changed since the last time they had spoken? What on earth was happening? Perhaps she was dying...
”You’re not dying are you?” the boy moved a little closer then, placing his hand against her forehead. ”You don’t feel warm... are you sure you’re feeling okay? do I need to go get the school nurse?” He joked, smirking lightly to himself. The Lily Evans HE knew was certainly not the type to give a warning after all. He was worried after all, or perhaps he was just taking the piss, he couldn’t be certain. The later seemed most likely. Raising his eyebrow at the girls next question, Sirius shook his head slightly. “What do you mean? He likes you of course” he stated, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. Which of course, it was. Every man and their dog could see how head over heels James had fallen. The boy was completely love-struck, helpless, lost without her. His behavior, though bordering on stalkerish at times, quite clearly expressed this. What was there to not understand? Even a blind man would have realized just how in love James Potter was. Why couldn’t Lily Evans see that? Why was she the only one who couldn’t see that? It was driving him insane.
Ignoring the girls question about his break, Sirius skipped right along, being completely intrigued by her next statement. ”All that friendly you say? Ignoring us, giving us detentions... lily, this had been a downright war” he chuckled, not at all fazed by the sudden change of events. ”But for what it’s worth... welcome to the dark side”.
Since ditching Snape, Lily had been spending an increasingly large about of time around the common room. She and her friends were a gaggling, giggling lot, rather loud and obnoxious at times. Despite this however, he still got the feeling that Lily missed Snivellus... for reasons he would never quite be able to get his head around. He sympathized with her to some degree, after all, Sirius had no idea what he would do without the other marauders. Still, being a Gryffindor, he doubted he would ever be able to understand why the girl wished to associate herself with Slytherin’s. Not only did it go against the status quo... but the war effort. Lily was consorting with the enemy. The slytherins were, after all, the enemy.

----------------------------- Lily could not help but to snort while leaning against the wall. She had made sure that her wand was still in her robe pockets. The red haired girl folded her arms across her chest as she continued to eye him. “You flirt with anyone who isn’t a Slytherin Black. Need I remind you about most of my girl friends who have broken hearts that’s due to you.” The corners of her lips twitched downwards into a small frown. She didn’t understand his behavior. Most of the girls who she had talked to had said that he was seen with a new girl each week. Unbelievable. Thank Merlin that James isn’t like that. The thought was in her mind before she could stop it. She felt her cheeks grow slightly warm as she quickly looked away. Her gaze fell to the ground, trying to get herself under control. It was failing. It took her at least a couple of minutes before she felt herself again. Before she had looked up. “Black, how many times have I seen teachers giving you stern lectures? I swear to Merlin that you’re in detention every other week for some silly prank or another.” She bit down on her lower lip to stop herself from saying the words that all parents would say.
He was sixteen and should be thinking about the future like she was. Then again, both of them were different. The frown turned into a small smile. “Does that seem to be your theme? You’re always up to no good.” Her eyes narrowed slightly at him. The smile never seemed to go away. “I suppose I can bend the rules a little bit just for you. Let’s make sure not to make it a habit every time.” She didn’t know if she had considered it a good thing that there wasn’t another perfect around. Lily would be questioned as to why she had let him, of all people, off the hook. She scowled heavily at him, raising her arm and trying to slap his hand away before it was placed on her forehead. Lily did admit that she was a little bit taken aback by his actions. “I’m perfectly fine Sirius Black. Nothing that you need to be worried about. And no. It’s not flu season yet.” The classic, trademark scowl was back on her back again. She just wished that the tone was back. The slightly harsh tone that she reserved only for him and James. Oh Merlin she wasn’t going crazy was she? Or maybe she had been bitten while she slept and it was causing a complete change in her overall personality? She was hoping for the first.
Her cheeks grew warmer as she squirmed. A worried look was in her eyes as she snorted again. “Really, Sirius, he should have at least paid another girl attention. Besides, isn’t he exactly like you? The minute you get the girl who you fancied to bed you dump them. Never speaking to them again. Merlin no wonder you two-” It was here that she had decided to shut up. The worried look in her eyes continued to stay there. She looked anywhere and everywhere but at him. Was she imagining it? Was she really telling him several of her deepest, darkest thoughts? She took a deep shaking breath. Lily didn’t know what was getting in her head lately. Merlin she wished that it would stop so she could go back to normal. Go back to hating the Marauders. Well, James and Sirius in particular. Remus and Peter seemed to be alright. Lily thought that it was best to return to the matter at hand. The current situation. “He’s a show off, plain and simple.” She retorted. Ah! There it was! The snappish tone. “Always ruffling up his hair and bragging about Quidditch or what have you. He’s just as bad as….some people.” She finished off the sentence lamely.
She was about to put down Severus but something made her stop. That was, after all, in the past. She had an amused expression on her face as she noticed his ignoring her question. She smirked. “Well Black, it already had been war the first time we laid eyes on each other on the train ride. You’d be surprised at how much I can remember long term.” Lily could not help it. She had to laugh. “I’m not sure if I like the dark side or not. I could let you know in a couple of days. And you are avoiding my question about the summer Black. Not sure if that is a good thing or not.” The red haired girl could not understand why she was being so…friendly. When she encountered Sirius the two of them would have been seen arguing and fighting. Lily would have been seen growing redder in the fact every couple of minutes. “I wouldn’t say friends right now but probably would cut down on the fighting and everything in between. Then we’ll see how it goes.” She was not sure what she was trying to accomplish here. She just hoped that it was for the better good. Tagged. Siri! Words. 860 Notes. Blahk!
