------------------------------You don't have to feel like a waste of space 'Cause baby you're a firework come on show them what you're worth----------------------------- It was a rather dreary and rainy afternoon. Most of the students were staying in their common room rather than to go outside. The Ravenclaw Tower was slowly emptying out as the students were heading to the library to get caught up on their homework. From her seat at the window fifteen year old Hailey Thomas was watching her housemates. Her brown eyes were scanning the Tower that she had called home for the past four years. She had made friends here. Some she had considered family. The corners of her lips twitched downwards into a small frown at the mention of family. She may be a Thomas by name but as far as her father was concerned, Hailey was no longer family. Most, if not all, parents would be happy to have their child sorted into Ravenclaw. A house that was known for its wit and learning. It was much more respectful than Hufflepuff or Gryffindor. But not Kevin Thomas. He held high standards for his children. A small sigh escaped from her lips as she ran a hand through her hair. In a way she was glad that she had been sorted into Ravenclaw instead of Slytherin. Hailey would have made a bad Slytherin. She doubted that she would ever understand the whole blood purity idea. And she was a pureblood herself!
We’re all equal, she thought as she noticed two of her mates were approaching her. It shouldn’t matter. Some of the brightest students were muggleborn. “Hey Hailey, we’re going to the library and then to the astronomy tower. Want to come?” The speaker was a black haired girl that was a year older than her. Her partner, a dark brown haired boy, grinned with a mischievous look that sparkled in his eyes. Hailey couldn’t help but to smile. These two were well liked in Ravenclaw. “No thanks. I would rather do my homework here instead,” The two of them nodded as the boy walked away. Hailey could tell the girl wanted to say more, but changed her mind and walked off as well after giving her a smile. She watched them leave as her thoughts consumed her again. She had become friends with them last year after her attempted rape. They were the ones who had rescued her before it started getting worse. She frowned as her thoughts turned to one Marcus Peterson. He was a Slytherin that was in her year. A very nasty one at that. She shook her head and turned her attention to the desk. Her Transfiguration and Charms book were spread out in front of her. I really don’t feel like doing any, she thought to herself with a sudden scowl.
I’m behind on my homework as it is. I can’t believe I’m slacking. That’s it! Hailey straightened with a last look at the window. Rain was coming down in sheets now. This day is going to be fine, she grumbled to herself. She wished that she could visit her sister in Slytherin house. Oh, that would go really well. The only Ravenclaw in the room as Reila’s mates pass by, giving her looks and glares. Hailey shuddered slightly at the thought. This wasn’t going well at all. With an angry sigh she glared at the book and turned her attention to the window again. This was a day for lazing around and not doing a thing. She hummed a little to herself softly. Her eyes revealing nothing to what she was thinking which was a good thing. Her mind was one jumbled headache in itself. Thoughts after thoughts had made the time pass by slowly. She bit down on the inside of her cheeks as a thoughtful look glittered in her eyes. Lost in her thoughts, Hailey failed to noticed footsteps that were coming her way. Tagged!? Going to the Slytherin common room was the first thing on her to do list. Of course, though she wasn’t a Slytherin, Alex had both her siblings there. She got along fairly well with some Slytherins, partially do to familial connections and partially do to her somewhat Slytherin attitude. She didn’t talk much and she was sarcastic as hell. The Ravenclaw had decided to see what her siblings were up to, especially since she really had nothing to do. Well, besides homework, but she’d get that done later. She really wasn’t in the mood for doing it right now. Shocking, all things considered. However, on her way to the common room, she ran into some Slytherins. They were smirking as if they had a plan or something. Normally, Alex would have just nodded towards them and continued on her way. However, since she had work to do, she figured she wouldn’t waste her time. "Oi. Were my siblings in the common room?" she asked, in an almost bored tone. One of them shook their head, "Nah, sorry. Think they left for somewhere with some others."
"Thanks." she nodded towards them in thanks as well. Turning on her heel, Alex made her way to the common room. She didn’t have any plans besides do her homework, which she kind of hoped would be later on in the day. Thus the reason she went to see her siblings. Usually, they always seemed to have something to do. Since they were somewhere else today, Alex thought it was a hassle to even try and find them. By then, she’d most likely had to have get started on her homework. So, that left her with only two choices. The library or the common room. Usually the library was pretty empty, but Alex knew it was homework rush for most Ravenclaws. In fact, their homework rush usually meant the other houses’ homework rush. And she really didn’t want to deal with that. Not if she didn’t have to. So, deciding on the common room, Alex made her way towards Ravenclaw tower. She passed by some Gryffindors on her way, as Gryffindor tower was relatively close by, and she turned the other way. They were always causing ruckus and she didn’t want t get stuck in any part of that.
Soon enough, Alex reached the door that was the entrance to the common room. The bronze eagle knocker had opened it’s mouth to ask a riddle, as usual, but then shut it’s mouth. She didn’t have to answer a riddle today to enter the common room. A few students stepped out, of different years, and acknowledged her with a nod or a smile. Alex nodded back. However, when she saw someone she actually did like, she managed a small smile. It was so miniscule, though, that one would have thought they imagined it. After they left, Alex entered. Satisfaction filled her as she noted that the common room wasn’t as full as usual. She had been right. In fact, she found it was steadily having more students leave than coming in. Of course, being the somewhat anti-social girl she was, Alex was relatively glad of this little development. Less people meant less chattering and people trying to talk to her.
When she looked around the common room, she noted a fellow fifth year sitting by herself at the window. Hailey Thomas. Alex knew her from their childhood, before Hogwarts. It was just coincidence that they were both sorted into Ravenclaw. Alex liked her; Hailey was a rather good friend. The fact that they had a lot in similar aided too. Both came from pureblood families. And they were the first in their family to be sorted outside of Slytheirn. She noted the parchments laid out in front of the brunette before making her way over. Hailey had her book in front of her, but her attention seemed to be outside. On what, Alex didn’t know. But it certainly wasn’t about the nice weather. "Lost in your thoughts again, Hailey?" she pointed out the obvious before sitting down across from her friend. "Keep biting your cheek like that and you’ll wear a hole." she stated, a slight smirk on her face.

------------------------------You don't have to feel like a waste of space 'Cause baby you're a firework come on show them what you're worth----------------------------- The brown haired girl continued to stare out the window. She propped her elbow on the table and her chin on her hand. Lost in her thoughts, Hailey failed to hear the footsteps until a voice spoke out from behind her. She jumped up, startled as she raised her head from the hand and let her elbow hit the window sill. Wincing slightly the fifteen year old looked up as she reached for her wand. Seeing who it was she grinned and made a face at her. “You startled me Alex,” Hailey protested before sticking out her tongue at her in a childish manner. She choose to ignore the comment about the cheek biting. It had always been a bad habit of hers whenever she was lost in thought. “I have a lot of things to think about and this isn’t helping,” She waved her hand at the window indicating that she was talking about the rain. “Not to mention I have a lot of homework that I need to get done,” The corners of her lips twitched downwards into a scowl. “I barely got the chance to do any homework this summer. Father was his usual self. Zach kept on his behavior of torturing me and Rei…” She let her voice trail off as she thought back to this summer. It was surprising to find out how far she had come along since her sorting. It was also a good thing.
Hailey had become close to her sister and was considered less than human to her brother and father. Her mother would have nothing to do with her. At last she sighed softly. “You know how Father is. He thinks that I’m a blood traitor tainting the family name. I already know that he’s out trying to kill me. Same with Zach. My mother barely talks to me. Rei goes behind father’s back and the-” Realizing what she was saying made her stop in her tracks. Her cheeks turned a bit crimson. “Sorry. I didn’t mean to vent like that.” She looked at the other girl with a sheepish expression. While Hailey generally liked the other girl, and she knew that Alex thought the same about her, who knows what she would do with the information that Hailey had given her. “How was your summer? Bet it went as exciting as mine,” She joked slightly. Her brown eyes held a faraway look as the memories from the summer break started to resurface.
“Filth!” Kevin had snarled and kicked her. Hailey had doubled over in pain, quickly biting down on her lower lip. She wanted to make as little noise as possible or else the beatings would become even longer. “Look at you. How pathetic. You aren’t fit enough to carry the Thomas name. I wonder why I even bother to keep you! Probably so I can somehow beat you into becoming one of us. I highly doubt that,” he added with a sneer before casting several spells.
The fifth year broke free of the memory with a jolt. Her eyes held that dead-paned look as she rubbed her arm. One of the few places that Kevin dared to run his knife through. Yes. He was more abusive to his youngest and barely laid a hand on Zach or Reila. He would often compare them to her. Hailey sighed softly to herself. “I wish I had the chance to owl you this summer. Father thought it would be best to lock my owl in her cage.” She wanted to say more. Oh, how dearly did she wanted to tell Alexandria all of her problems over the summer but something stopped her. Hailey was one of those people that wouldn’t tell you anything unless you asked what’s wrong or what’s happening. She still felt guilty after venting. She shook her head slightly at herself. “I’m scared,” she admitted finally in a soft voice. “I’m scared that father would go too far at his beatings. What if he tosses me out? Where would I go?” That thought had made her think of Sirius. The last time she had confided to him he had told her to come to him if there was any more troubles at home. She had yet to see him. Hailey bit down on her lower lip as she looked at the other girl in front of her. [/blockquote] Tagged!? Alexandria Words!? 729 Notes!? Let me know if anything needs to be changed. Alexandria rolled her eyes at Hailey childishly sticking her tongue out. Of course, having known the other Ravenclaw for most of her life, Alex wasn’t surprised. "Oh, very mature Hailey. Very mature." she gave a slight smile and a shake of her head. Glancing at the window, Alex laughed lightly. "What ever do you mean? The weather is positively lovely today." her sarcasm was obvious and playful, unlike most of the other times she used it. When Hailey mentioned having a lot of homework, the smirk slipped off of Alex’s face. She was barely scowling, but it was there. "Oh yeah, still need to do that too…" she mumbled. Slipping her bag off her shoulder and pulling out her work, she set it up similar to Hailey’s. Her parchment in front of her with her books stacked right next to it. Alex paused to look at Hailey when she mentioned her summer, and visibly frowned. "I barely got the chance to do any homework this summer. Father was his usual self. Zach kept on his behavior of torturing me and Rei…" She frowned. There was the main difference between them. Where her family accepted she was in Ravenclaw and was proud of their intellectual daughter, Hailey’s scorned her. Well, most of her family that is. Gits.
"You know how Father is. He thinks that I’m a blood traitor tainting the family name. I already know that he’s out trying to kill me. Same with Zach. My mother barely talks to me. Rei goes behind father’s back and the-" She hummed in thought and nodded. She did know how Kevin Thomas was. They had met on occasion in the usual pureblood parties and gatherings and all that. Suffice to say, Alex wasn’t a fan of him, even before she met Hailey. He seemed like - and is - a cold father, and she didn’t like that especially since she was rather close to her own father. Her brother, a Slytherin if she remembered correctly, was just about the same way. Alex didn’t really like him much either. "Downright git he is…no offense." she smirked as she added the last part. Hailey probably wouldn’t take offense to it. At her apology, Alex shrugged her shoulders. She was more of a listener anyways. "No worries. I’m am open ear." she stated.
Green eyes took in the brunette before her, in an almost analytical way before turning their attention to the rain-filled day outside. Her thoughts went back to her own summer, which wasn’t all that bad. She smirked a bit at Hailey’s joke. Most people probably wouldn’t find it funny that she joked about that, but then again, Alex wasn’t most people. She didn’t like wearing her emotions on her sleeve unlike some people she knew. "Eh, nothing new. Mother wanted to go to France, so we stayed there for a bit." she replied, her gaze still on the window. Her father wasn’t as strict as others, in fact, he was a rather quiet being. But Alex loved spending time with him. And her brother, who was more similar to their father than anyone else. "I guess you could say it was a normal break." Really, nothing worth mentioning. "I wish I had the chance to owl you this summer. Father thought it would be best to lock my owl in her cage." Alex’s eyes flickered towards Hailey as she spoke again, breaking the silence that settled between them for a few moments.
Her eyes softened, as she let down that ice mask she usually wore. If there was anything that would make her let down her mask, it was family and broken people. Or at least, people who were breaking. Lost. But that was about it, and even then, Alex wouldn’t let up on her façade just yet. "Next time, I’ll owl you first then. I can always tell Sari to wait for your reply to come back. If you want that is." she offered. Sari was her owl, a beautiful brown speckled one with a darker brown base and a somewhat beige/tan colored belly. "I’m scared. I’m scared that father would go too far at his beatings. What if he tosses me out? Where would I go?" Alex inwardly flinched at the notion of having her father kick her out. That wasn’t what fathers were supposed to do. She couldn’t even imagine having her own father treat her like that. Sympathy filled her eyes, but it was gone in a flash. Almost like a trick of light. "Hey, don’t worry about it. We can find you someplace to stay. Besides, he can’t do anything unless he wants some bad publicity. And I don’t think he’d want to shame the Thomas name himself." she said the last part of her sentence with a slight mocking tone to it. She did not respect Kevin Thomas, perhaps as a wizard she did, but not as a father. "Is there anyone else you think can help you? I’m pretty sure we can work something out with them." Her thoughts turned to another similar situation. The situation of Sirius Black. She knew he was facing something similar by being sorted into Gryffindor. The difference was, Black had the Potters. While Alex wouldn’t mind having Hailey stay, they got along with the Thomas family. It wouldn’t turn out very well for either of them. "Perhaps someone in a similar situation would know what to do. We can er-ask for advice." she stated with a small frown on her face. She hated at ask for anything. But, Hailey was a friend she actually liked. Alex raised an eyebrow at the Ravenclaw across from her, waiting for the answer.

------------------------------You don't have to feel like a waste of space 'Cause baby you're a firework come on show them what you're worth----------------------------- Hailey grinned at her and giggled a little bit. Leave it to Alexandria to make everything feel better. They had known each other since childhood. It was natural for the brown haired girl to act the way that she was. They were also going down the same path. Well not quite the same. Both of them were sorted into Ravenclaw. Both of them were born into old pureblood families. “It’s what I do when someone startles me out of nowhere,” she teased slightly. “Especially someone who walks so quietly I can’t barely even hear,” Her brown eyes sparkled as she ran a hand through her hair. Her attention returned to gazing out of the window. So gloomy out. “Well so much for Herbology,” there was a note of amusement in her tone. She smirked. “Oh yes. Rain pouring in sheets and possibly thunder and lightning is very lovely indeed.” A couple of first years were also staring at the window in time for a flash of lightning and a rumble of thunder thirty seconds later. Hailey loved this kind of weather. She turned to face the other girl and smirked again. “Everyone’s using this day to catch up on homework. I should be doing that to.” She gave the table a slight glare. “Except I have a lot on my mind right now. It’s not making anything easier on me.”
In part half of it was on her family. Well mainly on her father and brother. The other half was due to Marcus. Hailey made a slight face. There were secrets, things that she had kept, from the other girl and the attempted rape was one of them. What would she say? Most importantly how would she start off that conversation? No need to go there, she thought to herself. I’ll leave that when the time comes. She pulled herself out of her thoughts again. It was a bad habit of hers. “Say all the things that you want about him.” Hailey shrugged. “I could care less. And thank you.” The fifteen year old made a mental note not to vent or rant unless it was needed. Who knows what else she might accidently slipped out. The girl paused, eying the other one, her mind made up. “I suppose you know Marcus right? Marcus Peterson?” She braced herself for the other’s reaction. Like their families, the Petersons were an old pureblood family dating back to the time of the founders. Hailey had heard the fifth year bragging about it in Potions the other day. This had lead the Ravenclaw to wonder exactly how old the Thomas family was. She would have asked her dad but he had other things on his mind to worry about. A fifteen year old blood traitor of a daughter was last on his list.
She had decided to wait until she knew for sure before jumping in. Hailey was quite surprised she didn’t know already. “I have been to France a few times before I started Hogwarts,” The brunette mused slightly. Those were better times for her. Things had gone downhill after her sorting ceremony. She voiced her thoughts to the other girl. “That was before my sorting. Before everything had started crashing down on me.” Hailey gave her a small smile at the mention of her owl. “That would be wonderful. I’m trying to get Father to unlock her cage and let her hunt. The noise that she makes drives him crazy enough so here’s hoping for that.” Her eyes sparkled with an odd look. She gave Alex a half smile. She was right. Kevin wouldn’t dare do anything himself that might put the Thomas name to shame. “You’re right. He’s always going about keeping our name pure. Even if it means putting me out to save himself,” her tone was a bit bitter. At fifteen she shouldn’t be worried about getting kicked out of her own house, or rather a mansion. She should be worried about the normal things girls her age should be. She smiled a bit slightly. “Thank you Alex. Thank you for everything. I just want to be prepared…you know. Just in case,”
The brown eyed girl hesitated a little. “I do have one person that I could go to. Sirius Black. I know his parents are worse than mine. I don’t want to do anything that would upset them even further.” Her voice was smaller. Worry glittered in her eyes as she looked sheepish. Perhaps even afraid. “I haven’t seen him around yet. Our schedule’s often clash when it likes to. Not when we want to work it out.” She frowned a little. Now that she thought about it…the only time that she ever saw Sirius at all was at the start of the term feast. He was his usual self, joking around with his friends. She had even waved to him and he returned the wave. Hailey didn’t want to interrupt so she let him be. There would be other things throughout the year that she would talk to him. Or so she had thought. Sighing to herself she turned her head back to the window with a dark look. It was as if it was the weather’s fault that everything was going wrong. “I don’t know what to do.” The statement came out even smaller, if that was possible. “I don’t want to be a burden to anyone.” Hailey was grateful that Alexandria was willing to help her. She really was. She just didn’t want the other girl to get into trouble because of her. That was what usually had happened with other people. It was just her luck, she thought with a small frown. When things would get better, the universe would try to find ways to make her miserable. It was Merlin’s favorite trick. [/blockquote] Tagged!? Alexandria Words!? 969 Notes!? As her friend giggled, Alex smirked. It didn’t mean anything, but Alex was never one to smile. At least, not a lot. She wasn’t all that much of an ‘open book’ person. She was more of a diary with three locks and two protective charms on it. Still, if you managed to get past her cold exterior Alex isn’t all that bad. "So…if a…leopard jumped out at you, you’d stick your tongue out at it?" Alex snorted in an unladylike fashion. She really couldn’t care less at that moment, it was only with Hailey after all. Sending a smirk her friend’s way, Alex placed her quill next to the empty parchment that she really did need to work on. "Especially someone who walks so quietly I can’t barely even hear." Alex laughed lightly. The sound was soft and a bit cold, even if it wasn’t a mean laugh or anything of that sort. "Hailey. An elephant could have gotten passed you without you noticing." Alexandria shook her head at the brunette across from her in humor. Leave it to Hailey to not even notice how deep in thought she was.
Alex smirked at the brunette’s amused tone as she mentioned Herbology. "I know. A real shame, huh?" she laughed lightly once more. Her eyes flickered towards the window. "And I just know that Herbology is you favorite subject." She noted a couple of first years jump at the sound of thunder. It wasn’t all that bad, but Alex preferred lightening. At least that was silent. "See? Positively lovely. Best day, so far." she rolled her eyes playfully at Hailey, feeling the gaze of the other girl on her. She raised an eyebrow before looking down at the work that she should probably be working on. "Same here." she sighed a bit. She really wasn’t in the mood to do her homework. It was only an essay after all; she could put one together in the morning and still pass. "Except I have a lot on my mind right now. It’s not making anything easier on me." Alex frowned a bit at the tone of her friend’s voice. It was gone before the other girl could notice though. "Hmm, do I really want to know what’s going on in that strange, crazy Ravenclaw mind of yours?" she smirked at the girl across from her.
She had a feeling that it was something to do about her family. After all, why else would she just spill it out like that? Alex wasn’t one to pry though. She had her secrets, Hailey could have hers. That was how it went. How she worked. "Ok then. He’s a controlling, stick-shoved-up-his-arse bastard." she smirked laughing a bit. "And no problem, you know where to find me." she waved her hand almost dismissively. Alex’s cold exterior almost came back immediately at the mention of a Slytherin. It was just something she did; whenever some other student, besides siblings, were mentioned, Alex seemed to just revert back to her cold mask. "What about him?" she couldn’t say much about him, but she didn’t like him. There was just something about him that she didn’t like. Another reason she reverted back to her cold exterior. If she didn’t like something, this was how she would act.
She rolled her eyes at Hailey again. "Your better off without those bastards anyways. The only thing they can look after are their own arses." she stated, not saying anything about Hailey’s older Slytherin sister. She wasn’t bad, and Alex got along well enough. Zack and Kevin Thomas, however, were a new story. She didn’t openly dislike them, but it was rather obvious by the cold attitude she treats them with. Usually like how she treats people she only tolerates. Alex smirked once more, her eyes lighting up with a knowing look. "You see, unless he wants to be the bad guy to the rest of the world, he wouldn’t. Not until your of age. He couldn’t kick you out. If he did, he’d acknowledge that you disgrace the Thomas name, thus having a disgrace in your family on him." she didn’t mean for it so sound so mean, but it just came out that way. When she reverted back to her cold self, it usually took some time to ‘melt back down’ again. "I mean, it’d be his and your mother’s fault anyways. No one would look at the Thomas name the same if he kicked you out, even if they think the same as your father." It was rather true. If Kevin acknowledged his daughter was a disgrace, so would the rest of the pureblood society. Then, they would blame Kevin and his wife for raising a disgrace and not having enough power or influence over their own child to make them behave. Merlin knew how much she’s heard about the Blacks from the gossip of her mother and her mother’s friends.
Alex frowned as Hailey spoke about Sirius. Not because she was already talking to Sirius, but because she hadn’t spoken to Sirius yet. "Hey, calm down. You’ll be ready. And you won’t be a burden. Not accepting help and making us worry would be becoming a burden. If we didn’t want to help, we wouldn’t offer. " she stated. Her green eyes bore into Hailey’s brown eyes. It was true though. If they didn’t want to help, they wouldn’t have offered.

-----------------------------Up where the mountains meet the heavens above out where the lightening splits the sea I could swear that there's someone watching over me ------------------------------ Hailey smirked as she settled back in her seat. Her attention was now focused on the pouring rain and the other girl that was sitting across from her. Really, the last time that they had seen each other was when Hailey was eleven. Two or three months before her first year at Hogwarts. As if to teach her a point, Kevin had cut off all contacts with her pureblood friends the moment she was sorted into Ravenclaw. He didn’t want his daughter tainting the mind of them. She was branded a blood traitor the moment she sat down. Zach had raised a fuss but everyone pretty much ignored him. There was surprise on the faces of her new housemates and it only took them a few minutes before they warmly welcomed her to their ‘little family.’ The corners of her lips twitched upwards into a smile as her eyes held a dark look. Suddenly she laughed. “Nah, I would be too busy wrestling with the leopard to even think such things!” She imitated her father’s silky voice, “Much too improper for a pureblood lady at her age. Not that she is one anyways.” Hailey made herself comfortable as she folded her arms over her chest, raising an eyebrow at the other girl. “I thought I had made it perfectly clear that you, Hailey, are a blood traitor and no longer associated with the family despite having our last name.” Her father’s words seemed to have been brought back from old memories.
She laughed. “The day that I would notice an elephant would be a pretty cold day in London, Lexi. You know how I get during this time.” She smirked lightly. “Oh indeed. Besides Care of Magical Creatures and any class taken outside on a day like this.” Hailey nodded to the window as another burst of thunder sounded. This time it was making the window sills rattle. A few of the first years were looking positively horrified. “You would think that the castle would cave down on a measly thunderstorm like this!” The idea was pretty ridiculous. Hailey loved thunderstorms when she was a child. Merlin, she still loved them even now. As long as she was inside during one that was. The brown haired girl couldn’t help but to snort. “Sureee. Pretty soon there would be a tornado or even a hurricane and things would be really lovely,” Her brown eyes were twinkling. The twinkling soon died out when Alex asked her if she wanted to know what was going on in her mind. “Just…just stuff that happened this summer and last year. Really not a big deal. I’m not trying to be a tattle tale or anything.” She shrugged. After keeping things bottled up for almost a year Hailey was just about to spill. She considered herself lucky that the person she was talking to was one that she could trust. She laughed again. “You could say that again. You should see him out in public when I’m with the family."
“He would make it perfectly clear that I was no longer part of the family. Calling me a blood traitor and pretty much everything under the sun.” Luckily, her hands were in her lap. The other girl couldn’t see as she clinched them and unclenched them. She turned her head to the rain outside. “He trapped me last year in the hallway. In the hallway of all the places and he…well, started to kiss me. Would have raped me to if it hadn’t been for two of our housemates.” It felt good to let that out. After keeping that a secret she felt better, but only just. Now she turned back to look at the other girl with a worried look. “I’m not lying either. I swear by Merlin it’s the truth.” She was blinking away sudden tears in her eyes. “I was afraid to tell anyone. That’s why I kept it hidden in me.” Hailey knew people would probably end up calling her a liar, a tramp, and even worse disgusting things. No matter if she was telling the truth or not. She smoothed her face into an expression that neither of them could place. She did feel like breaking down crying. Hailey knew better to do that in front of everyone. She snorted. “Just don’t let them hear you say that. They won’t let you in the manor for a few weeks or even a month. And Rei’s not that bad. She pays attention to me more than father and brother does.”
The fifth year held a thoughtful look in her eyes now. “To be honest I had forgotten about that happening. I’ve been so worried about other things that I barely looked at that. The others would blame him and mother for not raising me properly. Not that they did but the bloody hat decided to put me in Ravenclaw for some reason or another. I was fighting with it to put me in Slytherin. Thought that it would take your choice into consideration. Goes to show you how out of touch of being a pureblood I am. You would think that they would try to drill me during the breaks and summers but nope.” Her eyes continued to hold a worried look to them as the other girl told her to calm down. “I’m too much of a worrier to begin with. “He only tells me little of what goes on at home. Not that I would expect for Sirius to be open or anything.” She stared into the girl’s green eyes and managed a small, shy smile. “Thank you.” Tagged. ALEX Words. 938 Notes. Alex rolled her eyes laughing slightly at the brunette across from her. Her own green eyes were filled with amusement as she shook her head. "You know, I should be worried you’re even thinking about wrestling a leopard." she stated, amused. Of course, her voice was slightly sarcastic as she said it. "Didn’t know you were such a rebel, Hails." her light laughter was drowned out by the thunder that rumbled outside. She laughed a bit as a few first years cowered. Being up in a tower, Ravenclaw, and most likely Gryffindor, had the ‘brunt’ of the storm. The thunder was always oh so loud and the lightening seemed to be just by the window. The rain pounded against it and the whole cliché storm scene seemed to play out every time. Not that she was complaining; Alexandria rather liked the storms. If anything, it kept most people away from the common room and kept things quiet.
Alex just smirked at her friend, amused. No matter what the situation, the two always seemed to be able to humor each other. Probably one of the reasons why she wasn’t annoyed with Hailey as she would have been with someone else. "Oh, I’m sure the metaphorical pink elephant would agree to that." she teased, her tone playfully sarcastic. Hailey returned with a sarcastic comment of her own and Alex almost grinned. Another reason why she wasn’t particularly annoyed with the Ravenclaw across from her. She understood sarcasm. "Yes, we should go out for a walk later. The Black Lake is always a good place to go." Of course, Alex really was contemplating just taking a walk outside, whether it was raining or not didn’t seem to phase the Ravenclaw. She really didn’t like being stuck in a tower for far too long. It made her feel like a damsel in distress waiting for a prince. The fact that Hogwarts was indeed a castle seemed to reinforce the idea. However, she could live with it; she just didn’t like it very much. "Maybe, but I’m surprised the Whomping Willow wasn’t struck by lightening yet." It was particularly true. Though the Willow wasn’t as tall as the castle, it was still pretty tall. Alexandria was almost sure the changes of lightening hitting a moving tree would be greater, since there was also a chance the tree would move right in the path of the lightening.
She wasn’t hoping though, she was just surprised. Nature and all, you know. "I think the tornado would go better with this weather…I mean, unless you really like water, then go for the hurricane." she shrugged her shoulders a slightly teasing smirk on her face. Of course, that hadn’t happen to Hogwarts before, probably due to charms, but it made Alex wonder. Honestly, she rather hoped for the tornado, simply because every element was there but wind, save for the breeze every now and then, but that didn’t count. Once the lightening stuck something to cause a fire that is. A frown marred her face when she watched the expression in Hailey’s face change. "You shouldn’t keep it all in though. At least…write it on parchment, then burn it. It really does feel good." She should know. She’d spend a few nights just writing her thoughts down before throwing them into the common room fire, or a fire she conjured up herself. She hadn’t done so recently, which was probably why she wasn’t as good at keeping her cold façade much longer. She figured she’d do it later this week, if anything just to get herself ‘back to normal’. "He’s an attention hogging arse."
"Besides, he’s a rather daft individual, is he not? He doesn’t know what he’s saying." Alexandria teased once more, insulting Kevin Thomas for the fourth time that conversation. Really, she was on a role. She didn’t feel the least bit guilty, partially because she never liked “Lord” Thomas in the first place, he didn’t even deserve the title of ‘Lord’ in the first place, and partially because Hailey was a good friend. Alex’s teasing mood suddenly turned rather dark. Ice cold green eyes bore into the brown ones before her; her expression unreadable. Hailey must have thought she thought it was a lie, for she quickly made to assure her that what she had said was, indeed, the truth. Alex’s expression never changed, however, and she felt her magic swirling angrily around her. With a deep breath and closing her eyes, she calmed. However, it wasn’t the complete calm. Her eyes still shone with rage at what Hailey had just told her. Marcus Peterson was a dead man. No, he was a dead boy, for no man would try and kiss a lady without her consent, much less sleep with her! It was the lowest of the low. "Would you like something done about that, Hails?" her voice remained cold, yet soft with an undertone that seemed almost…protective. Friends were friends after all.
"Don’t. Next time…just, don’t." she muttered. She hadn’t meant to sound so mean and rude about it, but really, Alex was bad with her emotions. Simply because she didn’t want to show them. It had nothing to do with growing up, but Alex always hid behind a cold exterior. For fear of getting hurt by anyone. "Well, that’d be a blessing if I weren’t allowed in the manor for a month, wouldn’t it?." Of course, Alex didn’t have anything against Reila. In fact, they got along well enough. It was the brother and father she didn’t particularly like. Hailey’s mother wasn’t her favorite person in the world either.
"And why am I not surprised? You’ll have grey hair by the time you’re twenty if you keep worrying like this." Alexandria rolled her eyes a bit, a teasing smirk on her face. Hailey always worried about everything. Really, she needed to just take a breath and relax. Though, Alex really shouldn’t be one to talk about relaxing. "Slytherin doesn’t suit you, Hails." she didn’t mean to sound rude or mean about that, but it was true. Hailey was too…kind? Sensitive? Sympathetic? Well, she wouldn’t fit into Slytherin. Alex figured the Slytherins would have teared her apart, and seeing as Peterson was a Slytherin, it could have been much worse than what she said. "Look, I know you wanted to be in Slytherin, but Ravenclaw is better for you, the type of person you are anyways." Her green gaze turned to the window, watching the rain and flashes of lightening before a sudden rumble of thunder. A slight smile graced her face. "He’s still helping you, right?" she asked, just to make sure Hailey would have at least someone helping her that knows what she’s going through. If not, then there would be a problem.

-----------------------------Up where the mountains meet the heavens above out where the lightening splits the sea I could swear that there's someone watching over me ------------------------------ Hailey could not stop smirking at her friend. Her eyes twinkled with delight. “Well you don’t have to worry about that Lex. I doubt I would ever find a leopard unless I happen to run into one,” She knew that there was sarcasm in the other girl’s voice but it still made her think. She had been in the forbidden forest a few times and thought she had seen all the creatures that had made the forest their home. She was quite disappointed to find out that no leopard would ever come in a mile of the castle. She smirked at the other girl. “You have no idea how I can be.” She turned her attention back to the window, at the scene outside. Dark clouds were rolling past as the storm, to which she decided to think of it as a gale, was still going strong. The trees were blowing back and forth against the strong winds as the rain continued to come down in sheets. Lightening flashed across the sky followed by thunder. Hailey watched, amused as the first years scrambled to their feet and fled the common room. She couldn’t help but to laugh softly. “You think it would be the end of the world. They can’t get away from the storm no matter where they go.” Hailey shrugged. Ever since she was a little kid the Ravenclaw had always loved storms. Merlin she would be outside in the middle of the action. No matter how much her parents stopped her she wouldn’t listen.
She quirked an eyebrow at her friend across the table. A huge grin was spreading across her lips. “Why wait til later? Let’s go right now. We can get our cloaks but I doubt that it would not do any good. I used to be outside in storms when I was little.” She shrugged, indicating that she didn’t care either way. And besides, it would help clear her head in the rain. She pushed back a couple of strands of her hair that had managed to fall into her eyes. Again. I should probably do something about that, Hailey thought to herself. She jumped a few inches when Alex started speaking. Really, she should pay more attention to what she was saying instead of letting herself get lost in her thoughts. She frowned a little. “Maybe it’s magically protected against the lightening?” Hailey had never really thought about that. She had been through more severe storms than this at her years at Hogwarts. She smirked again. “I wonder how many times a tornado has actually been at Hogwarts before. If it had ever actually touched the castle but, of course, protection and all that.” Here was Hailey’s naivety even at the age of fifteen. She thought she had known it all growing up in a pureblood family and from History of Magic. “I thought they had mention the possibilities of severe weather affecting the castle like this in classes. I probably wasn’t paying any attention.”
The Ravenclaw was rambling again. Her cheeks turned pink. Once she was sure she was normal Hailey took a deep breath and shrugged. “I should start writing down my thoughts somewhere. I’m used to keeping everything in." Hailey giggled a bit. “A bit daft of course, but you know how fathers are. The head of the family and everything else. There’s my brother Zach, the oldest and the heir of the family name. There’s Rei and then there’s me.” One could easily guess which person was not worthy of the name. At this thought Hailey shrugged mentally to herself. She was used to it. Used to the name calling and used to people putting her down. She had hidden everything inside her. It’s a wonder how Hailey had not suffered a mental breakdown. The fifteen year old watched her friend closely, and wearily, at her reaction. She shrank back in her chair, subconsciously raising her arm to protect her face. A few minutes had passed before she thought it was safe to peak. Alexandria wasn’t going to hit her? Hailey slowly lowered the arm down and breathed in shakily. “I don’t want to cause anyone any trouble or anything,” Her voice was extra soft. “I mean, I don’t want it to turn into a scandal. I can only see the Professors shaking their heads at me and Marcus lying smoothly, saving his own skin.”
The brown haired girl turned rather pink as she looked down at the floor. Her eyes glittered with worry and wondering if it was the right thing to tell her. She managed a small smile. [“To my brother and father and mother. Not that they’re complaining or anything as long as I stay out of their way.” She had a rather sheepish look on her face. Hailey laughed. “When I’m twenty? I’m surprised that I don’t have any grey hairs now.” Hailey turned rather pink again. “I suppose there is a reason why I was sorted into Ravenclaw. I mean, I know I’m not like the others. I know I don’t…hold the pureblood beliefs.” She shrugged. “I guess it was more of a means to keep my father from hitting me.” She nodded at her question. “He said that if I needed help with something that I can go straight to him. He always helped me out.” Tagged. Alex! Words. 893 Notes. Oh dear lord you can kill me for taking so long to reply hun! Credits. Alexandria just laughed lightly in response to Hailey’s words. It amused her really. "If you say so Hails. Just, if you do run into a leopard, don’t go wrestling it. Otherwise I’ll be there by your bedside telling you ’I told you so’ the day after." the amusement was clear in her voice, though there was a bit of sarcasm thrown in there was well. Alex couldn’t help it, really, she couldn’t. Sarcasm was like second nature to her. Rolling her eyes at Hailey’s statement, Alex felt the smirk tugging on her lips. "Ah huh. I’m sure." she drawled. Had anyone who not known her heard her say that, they probably would’ve been offended, but anyone who knew her, like her family and close friends like Hailey that’ve known her since childhood, knew she wasn’t trying to offend. It just came out that way. She knew Hailey could be a rebel when she wanted, but she also knew her friend was a bit subdued when it came to things. Probably learned the hard way with an elitist like her father was.
Times like this Alex almost pitied her friend, but she didn’t like pitying anyone simply because she hated pity herself. Comparing their home lives, it was so different. Both from predominantly Slytherin families, yet, Alex kept her close relationship with her siblings and parents; mainly her brother and father. Hailey on the other hand had a family who didn’t accept that and cast her out. She wouldn’t and couldn’t pity her friend, but Alex could sympathize. Her thoughts switched to more amusing matters as she laughed lightly at the first years that had just ran out of the room. "You know, I think they may learn after the…second, maybe third time." the smirk on her face was positively Slytherin as she spoke, an amused glint in her eyes that most would mistake for something darker. Alex always did have a strange, dark sense of amusement.
Alex smiled lightly. She loved the idea of going out into the storm. She wasn’t one to just ‘dance in the rain’, but she did enjoy the feel of it. It was calming. She enjoyed her storms as well. Glad that Hailey wasn’t one of those prissy girls that needed someone to hold their cloak over their heads for them, Alex nodded. "Then what are we waiting for? Best go now before the storm is over, correct?" with a slightly raised eyebrow one would think Alex was being sarcastic. She wasn’t. She was all up for going out and getting absolutely soaked. She wasn’t sure if her siblings would approve, but Madam Promfrey had a quick cure to the flu or cold. It wasn’t dangerous either. The thought of getting struck by lightening never passed her head, especially since this was Hogwarts they were talking about. If anything, the school always protected her students. Always…though not from each other. That was another matter entirely. "That’s what I was thinking. Hogwarts must have this powerful charm around it or something, so you’d feel the storm, but you couldn’t get harmed due to it." Being a Ravenclaw, this topic was interesting to her and Alex really did want to find out the answer. Typical Ravenclaw, sure. Alex just liked knowing things.
Alexandria shrugged in reply. "I guess only those classes outside like Care for Magical Creatures and Herbology." In all honesty, she really hadn’t paid attention to what Dumbledore or her professors said. Alex was incredibly smart, so she knew plenty of things already. Her Ravenclaw self was always thirsting for more knowledge. When she heard Hailey’s admittance to keeping things in, Alex would’ve had a smug look on had she been anyone else. A raised eyebrow and a pointed look was all Hailey got from the ‘ice princess’. "Don’t. You never know who could get their hands on it. Heavily charm it if you have to keep those thoughts, but in all seriousness, write down your troubles and just get rid of them. Tear them up then burn them, I don’t care. Just get rid of them. It takes a load off your chest." One would never expect Alexandria to do anything of that sort. She knew for a fact most thought she was a frigid ice princess. They believed the façade they saw. However, she did have lots of trouble. Mainly the fears she refused to acknowledge burrowing deep inside her until they came out. She hated it. But it helped. She loved watching her problems and issues burn. Even with a close knit family and a brain like hers, Alexandria Nott still had plenty of problems.
"Yes. And you and Reila are probably the only ones worthy of anything remotely good." she raised an eyebrow again, as if waiting for Hailey to deny that or say something about her father and what he says about her. Perhaps her brother. Either way, Alexandria always thought Hailey deserved a better family. It was a bit obvious. Then again, Alex was always an observer if anything. She noted things others would most likely miss. Alexandria narrowed her eyes as Hailey moved her arm in front of her face. In what? Protection? Had she really thought she was going to hit her? Alex was a lot of things to a lot of people, but she wouldn’t hit anyone. If anything, because of the way she was brought up, as a pureblood. She’d hex someone, sure. Never hit. Once again, she cursed Hailey’s bastard of a father for doing this to her friend. "Look Hails. Your not causing trouble for anyone. Peterson will get what he deserves, trust me." Alexandria couldn’t help but roll her eyes and look pointedly at Hailey. It may have been a bit mean, but really. "Anyone who believed Peterson over you has to be daft." Hailey had no reason to lie after all. Sometimes Alex thought Hailey just didn’t make any sense, but she still cared for her friend anyways.
A softened look entered her eyes and Alex sighed. Hailey did worry too much. The softened look in her eyes disappeared almost the same second they entered her eyes. Alex raised an eyebrow and shook her head. "Hails, your family has got to be messed up in the head…except maybe Reila and yourself, of course." Seriously. Hailey was a rather likeable girl. And this was coming from Alexandria Nott! Then again, Alex and Hailey did sort of grow up together. Nonetheless, Hailey was likeable and didn’t deserve the treatment she got just because she was a Ravenclaw. Sometimes she thought Ravenclaws were better than Slytherin; but that was only sometimes. None of the houses were better than the other, essentially. It all was just based on what type of person you are. "Hm, right. I think I see a strand or two there." she stated with the utmost serious face in the world. Though, the miniscule smirk on her face told otherwise. Only those who knew her long enough or were very observant would have noticed it.
Alex nodded, almost in approval. It wasn’t that she particularly hated Sirius Black, but…being the type of loud person he was…Alex just never really had any reason to like him. It’s not like they’ve ever talked anyways. "That’s good then. Don’t hesitate when things get too rough, Hails. I mean it. Don’t." she stated, any sign of teasing or amusement gone from her face. Hailey would be the one to hesitate to get help because she didn’t want to burden anyone, and Alex was going to change that. She didn’t particularly care if Hailey thought she was burdening anyone - not to sound mean or careless or anything - so long as she got help. That’s all Alex was aiming for now; making sure Hailey would go get help no matter how much of a burden she may think she is.
