----------------------------- A month had passed since Lily talked to James. She had agreed to go out on a date with him. On the condition that not a single soul of the Hogwarts population must know about this. He had agreed on her terms and she was immensely surprised at the fact that no one knew a month later. The sixth year Gryffindor was upstairs in the common room, running her fingers through her hair a million times. Calm down, a small part of her whispered. This is your first date and you don’t know what might happen. It might turn out good or bad, who knows. Sometimes the voices in her head can be relaxing to listen to. She ignored it when she was choosing outfits. She couldn’t be this jittery on a first date. To some people that was normal nerves. This wasn’t just a normal date. This was a date with the James Potter. The annoying, bullying toerag James Potter. The one person who liked to pull a lot of pranks and cause trouble. The infamous Marauder trouble maker. Lily scowled as she shook her head, trying to clear her thoughts. She could sense that this wasn’t going to well enough.
Still, she should give James some credit at least. Some of her friends had found it amusing that he kept on asking her out. Lily knew that he had badgered at least half of them. Asking them questions on what she liked and didn’t like. Thank god half of them had the sense to report back. The red haired girl couldn’t help but to grin hugely. Her emerald green eyes seemed to sparkle slightly as she slipped on a dress. It was the weekend and most students were going to Hogsmeade. Celebrating the fact that it actually was the weekend. It was the perfect place to meet up and spend the day with someone. Butterflies were in her stomach as she took one last look at herself in the mirror before walking out closing the door behind her. She stored her wand in the pocket of a jacket that had went over it. A lot of people were giving her rather startled looks but she just ignored them. The butterflies in her stomach were increasing as she took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. It wouldn’t go down so well if she had the sickness because of her nerves.
She didn’t want James to think that she had stood him up. She tried to think about the previous class that she had before perfect duty last night. Potions. Probably one of her best subjects. It would have gone well had it not been for Slughorn pairing her up with Severus. Needless to say it had gone completely awkward. She quickly bit down on her lower lip as she remembered trying not to look at him. Only talking to him when she asked him a few questions about the potion that they were making in class. Then there was the occasional out bursts from James and Sirius that weren’t doing any better for her. Her hand automatically reached up to her hair to run it through again but she stopped herself. Her hair was up in a high ponytail and she wanted it to stay that way. Oh Merlin she was so nervous! She tried going through the list of Charms for her homework that she had yet to do as she crossed into Hogsmeade. That had failed her miserably as she looked around at the many students. One would think that he would stand out from a crowd! She thought to herself somewhat crossly.
Thankfully they had agreed on meeting at the Three Broomsticks. It was probably one of her favorite places in the wizarding village. She continued to receive some startling looks from her classmates. Lily returned those looks with a sweet smile. Only her eyes showed that she was more than nervous. It seemed like forever when she finally reached the small pub. Breathing out a sigh of relief she slowly opened the door, closing it behind her. A fair amount of noise met her ears. It was usually crowded. She walked up to the counter and ordered one butterbeer. After paying for it and receiving the glass the red haired girl turned around, searching for a table that was not occupied by the other Hogwarts students. Some were swapping cards and others were in a tight knit group, talking and giggling. Sometimes blushing as boys they liked walked past them. Her eyes finally fell on a small table in the back that she could hide at. She made a beeline for it, sitting herself down and taking a sip out of the glass while occasionally glancing at the door. She’s been running through my dreams AND IT'S DRIVING ME CRAZY IT SEEMS Nervous didn’t quite cover how James was feeling. He did get nervous from time to time, however much he tried to not let it show. Nervous was how he felt for Moony before each full moon. Nervous was how he felt heading into an important quidditch match and detentions with Slughorn (because the Potions Master didn’t favour James that much, he tended to issue rather nasty work for him). Those kinds of nerves were manageable. Those kind of nerves were easily hidden. For the past few days, James had been feeling increasingly anxious and it had shown. He’d been quieter; his usual loud, confident exterior finally cracking apart from when Sirius managed to relax him substantially. He paced up and down the room trying to disperse his anxiety but to no avail.
Instead, he stood in front of the long mirror in the boys’ dorms and stared at his reflection for the hundredth time wearing what must be his tenth change of clothes. It was stupid really. His hair was still an unmanageable mess and his clothes were pretty much all the same. His shirts didn’t even really vary in colour; red being his preference. Jeans, dark red shirt, messy hair. He didn’t look any different from usual really. Except his shirt was new and not creased and so he looked a little smarter. He ran a hand through his hair for good measure, since it looked better unkempt anyways. He pulled at the bottom of his shirt, wondering whether or not to tuck it into his jeans. Look smart and make an effort or look normal because that was who he was. So many things that he didn’t usually think about and yet today they seemed so important.
Taking one last deep breath and bouncing on the balls of his feet in anticipation, James left the dorms. He’d promised Lily he would tell no one of their impending date. He lied. But his best mates could be trusted and how could he not tell them that he had finally won himself a day with the girl of his dreams? They weren’t in the common room. James had told them to clear off after Sirius had started to put some strange muggle gel in his hair. No doubt they’d be outside, sitting in their favourite spot under the tree. Good. They could stay there, away from Hogsmeade. No one was going to mess this up for him. Of course his biggest worry was himself. Just relax, Prongs. He told himself as he walked down the high street. She likes you, you know she does. Just be cool.
He pushed open the door to The Three Broomsticks and was met with an onslaught of people. It was the weekend and it was always busy anyway, even more so when Hogwarts allowed it’s students out for the day. Rubbing his hands together he searched around just in case Lily was already here because he didn’t want to buy her a drink if she already had one. But it was too busy and all of a sudden his eyes didn’t want to work properly. So he fought his way to the bar and brought himself a butterbeer, turned around once more and instantly spotted her, sitting herself down at a table in the corner. They must have literally just missed each other. He took a swig of his drink, watching her with a smile before making his way over.
James sat down in the seat opposite Lily, very aware of his movements all of a sudden and feeling very stiff and awkward. ”Hey, Evans.” He grinned and just like that, he felt more at ease. ”You look nice.” From inside his jacket as he pulled it off, James pulled out a single lily petal and placed it on the table in between them. ”You ready to be impressed?” He asked, pulling out his wand he waved it a few times and muttered a spell and watched, smiling successfully as it transformed into a lily flower. ”For you.” He smiled bashfully, quickly taking a swig of his drink to hide his blush.

----------------------------- Lily continued to sip her drink quietly while eying the door. She watched as the students, mostly her housemates and friends, walked in and out. Some were with a group and some were by themselves. She fingered a bracelet that she had found at the bottom of her trunk. It was a silver charm bracelet that Petunia had given her before they had a fallen out. She still kept it and wouldn’t dream of throwing it away. She even added a couple of charms of her own throughout the years. Lily was not the one to normally wear jewelry except for special occasions. And of course she considered the date a special occasion. Merlin, it was an occasion when she had confessed her love for James after all these years. She could feel a blush creeping up her cheeks. The red haired Gryffindor girl could still not believed that had spilled out of her mouth. Well, that’s what I get for holding things back I suppose, Lily mused to herself biting down on the inside of her cheeks. A thoughtful look crossed her expression as she continued to watch the door.
She was more than nervous about today. The butterflies were still going in her stomach as it clenched and unclenched. She was jittered with nerves from all over. Lily took a couple of deep breaths in and out. Calm yourself down, a small part of her whispered. It will go fine. Don’t worry. The voice in her head was oddly reassuring. It was something that she needed. She blinked as a shadow loomed over her. She was about to plunge her hand in her pocket for her wand when she took a good look at the person. Lily chuckled, mostly to herself. Don’t be an idiot Lily. “Potter.” The sixteen year old girl looked at her housemate. He was looking rather….handsome today. She reached up and twirled a few strands of her hair around her fingers. The few strands that had, somehow, fallen out of her high ponytail. “You look rather nice today yourself.” She looked down and smoothed the ends of her dress. It was nothing fancy really. Just a simple, light red dress that had made her red hair stand out even more. Even with planning everything out she knew she had not been ready after a quick look in her wardrobe.
It really wasn’t her fault that Lily liked to dress in a jeans and a nice shirt. She wasn’t high strong or anything but she did learn a few tricks from watching Petunia. The corners of her lips twitched upwards into a small smile at his question and she instantly wondered what he was doing to do with the petal. The one petal that her mother had named her after. “I’m already impressed by looking at you.” Those words came out of her mouth before she could stop them. She instantly turned a deep crimson. Luckily, her attention was on the flower. She watched as the flower transformed into what she thought was a lily flower. Lily was quiet after a few minutes as she took a sip of her drink. The smile grew shyer, yet bigger at the same time. “Well, I’m impressed,” She told him truthfully as she reached over for the flower, carefully taking it. She didn’t want to damage it. “It’s a wonderful way to start it off.” Her eyes glittered with an odd look that neither of them could place. She bit down on the inside of her cheeks as an uncomfortable silence fell between the two of them.
The noise seemed to have multiplied in a matter of a mere fifteen minutes. She shifted a little in her seat, nervous like crazy. Lily was afraid to speak or anything She did not want to say anything that might ruin today. She nervously played around with the bracelet. It seemed to have calmed her down slightly. The Gryffindor took a deep breath. “Have you decided on what we are going to do today Potter?” Lily decided to leave the question alone as she squirmed on the inside. Stop it already. You had some great advice and isn’t it time to pull those out? She smiled shyly. While she had made him promise not to tell anyone Lily had told only one person and that one person was Mary Macdonald. She had also made her promise not to tell anyone. While it was true that Lily could have threaten the other girl she decided not to. The two of them were almost like sisters. One of the Gryffindor girls that she knew she could trust with her secrets. She took another sip of her drink as she looked at him carefully. Most girls would consider themselves lucky to be on a date with the infamous James Potter.
She could see why they would now. Did she consider herself lucky? There was a thoughtful look on her face again. Probably. She supposed she ought to call it fate that had made her spill out her thoughts to the other person that was sitting across from her. And you’ll wonder why boys think that girls are overemotional at times, Lily thought to herself with a small smile as she took yet another sip. Her nerves were calming down a bit. To the point where she had considered drinking something a bit stronger and she was quite surprised at the thought. She pulled herself out of her mind as she waited for James to speak. She’s been running through my dreams AND IT'S DRIVING ME CRAZY IT SEEMS There was a little voice in his head that had to keep reminding him that this was real. That he had actually scored himself a date with this girl. Lily Evans who for five and a half years previously had not so much as batted an eyelash at him and then that fateful day in the courtyard had happened and James thanked Merlin for quidditch practices because otherwise they would not have bumped into each other. Well, actually James had whacked her with his broomstick but who cared about the details. He felt like he had to keep pinching himself and was it his imagination or were they drawing looks from their fellow students around them? He supposed it would be a bit of news at Hogwarts that James Potter and Lily Evans were seen drinking together in The Three Broomsticks. Not only drinking, but being civil to one another, no drink throwing or anything... yes, it would most definitely be around the school by the time they got back to the castle. Honestly, it didn’t bother James, it made him look good, he was the one out with the girl they all wanted.
If James knew that Lily was thinking that she was the lucky one he’d be completely bemused. He never had taken any notice to any other girls’ advances. In fact he wasn’t sure anyone had ever come on to him ever before. ”Please, call me James.” He said, his tone teasing gently. ”’Potter’ makes you sound like a teacher, Evans.” He grinned at her, fully aware that the use of each other’s surnames was an ingrained habit and one that James was unlikely to drop anytime soon. He loved saying her first name, he really did; it felt wonderful on his tongue. But the light hearted banterer in him would probably forever use her surname at random times. Besides, he knew she had said it because he had called her ‘Evans.’
With a chuckle at her compliment, he flicked the collar of his shirt and pretended to wipe dust from his shoulders. ”What this old thing? I just threw it on.” It was funny because it was cheesy, and light-hearted, right? He rubbed his hands nervously down his legs beneath the table before reaching above to take a swig from his drink, knocking his hand on the wood as he did so in his nerves. He did feel comfortable around her and he was a natural at conversation, so he didn’t see that as problem. He was really just worried about impressing her. He wanted to come off well; he wanted her to see him as just James. Not that irritating, bullying show-off of a prat. He wanted her to understand that his need to brag stemmed from his insecurities and that he only showed off in order to impress her.
He opened his mouth at her words, his eyes holding shock as he looked across the table at her. All of these sudden discoveries that he had learned from her over the past few weeks. Had he actually been right all along? Had Lily been just as hung up on him as he had on her? From what she’d said so far he had to say that the answer to that question was yes. It was surprising, majorly so and he wasn’t sure what to say to that except to simply beam at her. He didn’t want to embarrass her by rubbing in the fact that he had been right; he wasn’t that kind of guy at least not to Lily, if anything he was just exceptionally pleased by the compliment. It made his heart soar and boosted his confidence no end. As did her reaction to his gift. ”I’m glad.” If his friends knew he’d done that he’d be getting stick from them for the rest of his life. But they weren’t here to jibe him about it and really this was what James was all about; cheesy romantic gestures.
”Well, I’m going to serenade you with my charm and wit and you’re going to fall even more in love with me.” He smiled at her but his expression softened considerably as his gaze met her face and he was instantly enchanted by her eyes. He looked into them for too long and blinked away hurriedly, heat rising to his cheeks. I’m on a date with Lily Evans! The voice in his head was singing that she was close enough to touch, which he desperately wanted to do. He rested his hands casually on the table. ”Actually, I was thinking that we could just have a drink here and then maybe walk through the village, grab an ice cream or something and the weather’s not too bad so we could sit outside, I know a nice little spot over near the Shrieking Shack.” He realised he was talking rather fast, rushing to get everything out and to discover her reaction to his plan. Hoping that she wouldn't mind being near the Shrieking shack because it would mean they would be alone.
He took another sip of his drink, unable to tear his eyes away from her, even if he felt he might be making her uncomfortable by looking at her all the time. He noticed the bracelet she seemed to be fond of fiddling with. He raised his index finger from the table to point at it. ”That’s nice.” He stated, hoping she would get the hint and tell him a little about it. He couldn’t get thoughts of buying her a charm to go on it out of his head. He had to remind himself to not get ahead of himself.

----------------------------- The red haired girl quirked an eyebrow at him. She couldn’t help but to purse her lips together in an almost Petunia like way. There wasn’t a scowl on her face. To replace that trademark scowl she reserved only for him there was a slight smile. Her eyes were twinkling a bit. “Might I remind you that we have been calling each other by our last names for as long as I can remember? Really ever since we started at Hogwarts. It’s from habit and one that I would not quit any time soon though. Habits tend to break hard.” She shrugged at him as she took another sip. Students were giving them odd looks as they passed and she could not help but to blush slightly. She had the feeling that rumors would soon spread. “I had hoped this would be a quiet date.” Lily remarked with a soft, mock sigh. “They would be spreading rumors and everything by the time we get back.” Well so much for keeping this a secret mostly from her friends. At that thought she smirked. Her friends would be livid that she would be keeping information like this to herself. Somehow Lily knew that she would be answering questions left from right from them, mainly from Marlene and Mary.
They knew how much she had ranted and ranted about James. Ranted about his annoying pranking and annoying pursuits. She snort. “The only thing I need is my hair up in a bun and glasses. And that’s MISS Evans to you.” Lily was actually having a good time with him. She was smiling and sometimes laughing. Who would know that this would actually happen. The small smile on her lips grew a bit bigger. So far so good. No argument had broken out yet. There was no reason for Lily to be shouting and screaming at him. She idly wondered if those times were gone after today. “Well you still look impressive James. I would give you a rating of nine on a scale of one to ten.” Probably one of the times that she would use his first name. Only when we’re by ourselves, she thought to herself and smirked. She took yet another sip of her drink as a comfortable, yet slightly awkward silence spread between the two of them. She could get used to this. She wasn’t ready to head back yet and she doubt she would be any time soon. Lily wanted to see how long it would be for James to revert back to his old self. Messing up his hair and bragging about Quidditch and other things.
Her eyes narrowed at the thought. Her paranoia was coming through as a horrible thought came to her mind. What if he would use me to brag? She quickly bit down on her lower lip as she shook her head slightly to herself, trying to push away that little thought. It won’t happen. Lily thought. Not here. Not when I’m actually starting to have fun. The seventeen year old girl watched his actions carefully. She reached up and started to twirl a few strands of her hair in between her fingers that had managed to escape from its braid. Starting from their encounter in the courtyard, she had somehow confessed her thoughts to him. The exact thoughts that she had been thinking. Her fears about the future. It felt nice to finally be able to tell him everything. She didn’t know how much better she would be. Lily often wondered how much more of her thoughts she would be telling him. She laughed at what he said. “In your dreams Potter.” The line that she had often said to him millions of time before. But this time was different. Instead of having the snappish tone, it was a more of a teasing note to it. “We’re getting a bit ahead of ourselves aren’t we?”
Lily’s emerald eyes met his brown ones and she felt her cheeks grew warm. As much as she wanted to look away she found herself not being able to. “Potter, what’s this spell you have on me all of a sudden?” Her voice was soft. She wanted nothing better to do than to reach over the damn table and kiss him. She knew better than that though. The move was tempting with every second. Lily perked up at the plan. “That does seem wonderful.” Her eyes never lost their sparkle. She blushed when he pointed at the bracelet. “It was a gift from my sister. Before we had a huge fall out when I had gotten my letter. She wanted to go with me to Hogwarts….” Before she knew it, Lily found herself telling James everything that had happened with her and Petunia. A lot of the things had involved Snape and she wondered how he would feel about it. Suddenly Lily was nervous that she had told him. Very nervous. She lowered her gaze to stare at the table. So much time had passed since then. Lily wanted to make up with her sister. Petunia kept shoving her aside because, as far as she was concerned, Lily was a freak. She shook her head again to clear her thoughts, suddenly feeling awkward. “Well enough about that. Tell me more about the famous James Potter." Tagged. James! Words. 888 Notes. GAH. I'm FINALLY getting my muse back! Lily wanted to ramble on and on again! Credits. The template is credit to Laura

She’s been running through my dreams AND IT'S DRIVING ME CRAZY IT SEEMS James was used to flirting with her but he was suddenly struck by the thought that she was flirting back. The twirling of her hair, James was pretty sure someone had told him once that if a girl did that around you then she liked you, the slight smile on her face, the absence of a scowl; not only was she enjoying herself, James was almost certain she was flirting with him. He couldn't contain his excitement. He sat forward on the edge of his seat, his legs bouncing frantically beneath the table as he grinned at her, flicking his now too long dark hair from his hazel eyes. His mother would be telling him to get it cut but away from her steely eye he was a teenage boy too lazy to bother with such things. "We have," he agreed with a casual rise and fall of his shoulders. "If that's the way you like it, Evans then so be It." his eyes glinted, the becoming of a cheeky thought passing through his mind and eventually falling from his lips. "You could say 'Potter' with a bit more adoration though," he suggested, a teasing laughter to his tone, "you know to convey how mad you are about me."
He watched her lower her gaze, could see that she was worried about what other people were thinking and what lies might be spread. "What’s the worst that could happen?" James said brightly in an effort to put her at ease with his optimistic attitude. "So they'll say that we're dating," they'll probably say worse than that James reasoned with himself. "we'll start our own rumours, spread that we're engaged or something!" it was of course a joke, said albeit with a hint of seriousness because James thought the idea of spreading the rumour themselves was better, that way they had control over the situation.
"I don’t know why you always have it tied back; you look really nice with your hair down.” He blushed a furious red heating up his cheeks, his eyes darting to stare at the label on his bottle of butterbeer suddenly realising that he'd said that out loud. One minute he'd been thinking it in his head, his eyes following her fingers as they twirled the loose strands of her hair, wondering what it'd be like to do that himself and the next minute the words were spilling out of his mouth. She looked amazing all of the time in James' eyes but when her hair fell in those wonderful red waves to her shoulders... He snapped himself back to the present taking a refreshing sip of his butter beer in order to cool himself down; hopefully relieve some of the blush from his cheeks.
He ruffled up his own hair, out of nerves rather than in the usual showy gesture. He didn't know why he felt embarrassed complementing her all of a sudden isn't that what you were supposed to do on a date after all? James wasn't entirely sure having never been on one before. She was complementing him though and that was definitely out of the ordinary. "Well thank you very much Miss Evans." he said with another flick of his collar. "Only nine!?" mock outrage apparent in his tone and expression. "Surely a 9.5 at the very least?" he wheedled determined to get her to say more nice things about him now that she had started. It was a guy thing; never knowing when to give up. Oh yes, if he had been unconvinced before he was certainly sure of it now. Flirting most definitely and not only that he seemed to be doing a half decent job at winning her over. Showing her that he wasn't all about quidditch and pranks. He bit his lip, his eyes widening for a second as his hazel met her green. Him cast a spell on her? Surely not it was the other way around! His voice was soft; a look on his face that he had never felt before but he knew it was love. "Now you know how I've felt for the past five years." he leaned towards her a little, practically slipping off the edge of his chair now. He desperately wanted to take hold of her hand or better yet kiss her, run a hand through her hair. He snapped himself out of it again. Don't rush things. He told himself sternly. You've only just got yourself a date she's hardly going to let you kiss her is she!?
So instead he nodded, glad that she liked the sound of his plan and listened intently as she told him about the bracelet, about her sister, about everything. He was fascinated and frankly amazed that she trusted him with this information. “I didn’t realise Sniv”- He stopped himself just in time, “Snape had played such a big part in your life.” He began to fiddle with his fingers, unsure of how he felt about that but realising that there was nothing he could do to change the past. The two of them had grown up together, was more of a part of her life than he had first imagined. It had obviously taken a lot for her to tell him and she was understandably upset and so he did the only thing he could he reached across the table to take hold of her hand, squeezing it gently, comforting, silently telling her that he understood as well as he could. His fingers swept lightly over the bracelet. He wanted to say something but he wasn't sure he had the words to fix it which was what he wanted to do. "You’ll sort things out." he told her quietly, secretly thinking of Sirius and Regulus and wondering if he genuinely believed his words. "You’re sisters."
But she obviously wanted to change the subject and James was more than happy to talk about himself. "Famous huh?" he smirked, quite happy with that title. "Most people say notorious." he shrugged again. "Not much to say really. Born and raised in Godric's Hollow, only child," spoilt because of that he said in his head. "My parents had me late, realised I was perfect, well only a 9 out of ten but it was good enough for them and stuck with just me. Well that's what I like to imagine." he grinned in that way that made it hard to tell if he was joking or not. "Seriously my life has been pretty ordinary, boring really. Not much to do; why I used to get into trouble, out of boredom. Well," the cocky grin was back, "I still do get into trouble. Though I’m not necessarily as bored anymore since you came into my life. And quidditch," He added, almost as an after thought. "That keeps me entertained." He said no more, unsure as to whether Lily really wanted to hear him ramble on about how amazingly life changing quidditch was.

----------------------------- The sixteen year old girl took another sip of her drink as she continued to eye him. She was ignoring the startled looks from other students as they walk in. Some did a double take. Surely they weren’t seeing things. Surely they weren’t seeing James Potter and Lily Evans having a conversation without arguing! There was an amused expression on her face. “Potter, the day will come when I do exactly that. I do try to live up to our reputation if you haven’t noticed.” She told him dryly. “As of right now I think I will settle with it.” She could not help but to snort. Was he seeing things? She was only agreeing to go out with him. This was her first, their first, date. Nothing will probably come out of it. She felt a stab of disappointment at the thought. “I think you must be seeing things Potter.” She told him now. “If you want to live past this day you’ll do wise enough to keep such comments to yourself.” There was no anger, no sarcasm coming from Lily. Out of all the things that had been going on lately this was surprising to say the least. She pushed a couple of strands that had managed to fall, trying not to get slightly irritated by them.
She gave him a small frown. “The worst? I can think of a couple of things they’ll say James.” Lily let out a small laugh, shaking her head. “You’re getting ahead of yourself James!” She was squirming on the inside. Had he thought of a possible future with them getting engaged and married? And what about children? They were far too young to be thinking such thoughts. They were only sixteen! Breathe, Lily, breathe. To anyone there wasn’t a reason to get a panic attack over such things. But the red haired girl had several reasons. She wanted to wait til after graduating from Hogwarts. She wanted to graduate at the top of her class. She wanted to get a job at the Ministry….doing what? Magical Law? Her mind was whirling with thoughts about the future. She forced the panic down. There will be a time for everything, a small voice told her in the back of her head. This isn’t the time nor the place for it. Just relax and everything will be fine. Silence soon spread between the two. A rather awkward silence as she shifted a little, getting comfortable in her seat.
A faint blush was spreading across her cheeks. “Sometimes I’ll wear it down. I only wear it up on special occasions or when the weather is hot.” There was a nagging feeling that she had forgot to do something. But she couldn’t quite place her finger on it. “Thank you.” Her voice was soft as she was slightly embarrassed. While she was used to such comments from him, Lily could not help but to smile softly. Yes, there were still uncertainties that lingered in her mind. She was not going to tell him though. She would feel extremely uncomfortable. Thankfully, it was his next comment that brought her out of her thoughts with a laugh. “Only a nine.” She repeated, somehow trying to keep a straight face. Were boys always this idiotic? One would think that Lily would be used to such admires. Her dark red hair and her sparkling emerald green eyes were the things that draw them to her. The matter of truth was that Lily could be flustered around boys. A small frown appeared on her lips as she remembered her muggle primary school and quickly shook her head at herself. Now is not the time for such thoughts.
Her breath caught in her throat as the faint blush deepened. “You’re still the arrogant bully James. The one who tries his hardest to show off. Ruffling up that hair of yours….” Her voice trailed off as she looked at him. Those words were almost the same ones she had said to him last year. She had shouted after trying to defend….no. She bit down on her lower lip. What he had said next didn’t help. At this point it was hard to tell which was redder. Her cheeks or her hair. “He did. Really was the first to see I was a witch. And…well….it blossomed from there really.” Lily had started to worry about Severus when he started to discover the dark arts. She worried about him when he started to hang around with students who were notorious for their dark magic. She wasn’t quite…stop that! She slowly raised her head to look at him. “Thank you James. That means a lot to me.” Lily fiddled with the bracelet. “I do want things to be sorted out. Who knows how long it would be before the upcoming war starts.” There was a worried look in her eyes.
She feared for her family. She feared for herself, knowing she would be a likely target because of her status as a muggleborn. There were things that she wanted to do. There were things that she wanted to arrange. Lily was surprised at the way her thoughts were turning. They were turning darker. She turned all of her attention to James. She perked up. “Godric’s Hollow? You must have been surrounded by all kinds of magic then.” She took another sip from her drink. It was almost gone. “Are all purebloods like yourself related to another? If I did my research right?” The blush was back again. There were times that Lily showed she was just a muggleborn witch. There were times that she didn’t quite understand how his world, their world, worked. Lily laughed. “You always get into trouble Potter.” She quirked an eyebrow at him as he said the word quidditch. “I don’t know how you can get up on that broom.” Truth be told Lily didn’t have that much interest in the magical sport. She didn’t want to admit it that she had a fear of heights and quidditch usually brought that out of her. She finished her drink in one gulp and started to play with the bracelet again, suddenly awkward. Tagged. James! Words. 1029! Notes. GAH. I'm FINALLY getting my muse back! I didn't realize it would be this long! O.o and she's totally freaking out about what he said! Credits. The template is credit to Laura
