I CANT LIVE I CANT BREATH UNLESS YOU DO THIS WITH ME What was wrong with her? Her mind had gone away and she found herself lost like a first year student. Sleeping was becoming increasing difficult and eating never really fulfilled her like it used it. Her body was just going through the motions while her mind was locked away on something specific. Well more like someone specific and he just stayed always on her mind. There was so logical reason why suddenly she could not remove him from her thoughts or why whenever she saw him her heart just skipped a beat. But it was happening to her and she hated the feeling of being so helpless. Whenever she thought about that time at the lake she smiled. In fact that blue rose that he had given her stayed right on her night stand and by her head so she fell asleep and woke up to the lovely site. He was after all very nice to look at and Alice wondered if he would ever be caught dead with a girl like her. She was so plain and unexciting, but he was handsome and all of the girls loved his looks.
When she finished up with her lessons for the day, Alice did not have the urge to go back to the common room and risk running into him while she was carrying her books from the day and looking less appealing. Her hair had been thrown into a messy ponytail to keep it out of her face and there were ink smudges on her hands and cheek from note taking. Plus she needed to go somewhere to clear her mind. The courtyard seemed like a great idea since Alice could be social with friends that were out there and at the same time enjoy the fresh air which would help her to relax. The cool October air was perfect and she was not ready for the winds to become colder just yet. But Halloween was coming up and Alice knew that a costume would be a must this year at whatever Halloween Event Hogwarts hosted. But before she could even stop herself her mind wondered what sort of costume Frank Longbottom would like to see her in. Now she felt like an idiot again with her little crush. Alice stepped out to the court yard and quickly glanced around for people that she knew but right now it appeared to be pretty empty probably due to students doing homework and avoiding the chilly weather. Her sweater was enough to keep her warm, along with the socks that kept her legs warm.
She looked like a good student with her backpack full of books, parchment, ink, and other supplies. And her work ethic was good but she was ready to just enjoy her final years at Hogwarts and enjoy her social life. Slipping the backpack off of her shoulders felt like she was losing 20 pounds in an instant, which felt amazing. Her shoulders were tense and that tension ran up her neck and down her back but it was nothing she couldn’t cover up with a smile. A warm bright smile that was plastered on her face as she made her way over to a bench. The backpack hit the ground next to the bench before Alice sat down on the cold stone. Her arms were raised above her head as she stretched out her lower back for a brief moment. It felt good to know that the weekend was coming up and maybe she would find something to do this weekend. Maybe Frank would be available for that swim he promised her?
There she went again with her thoughts of Frank Longbottom and his free time. She wanted to occupy it and see the boy more but he seemed to distant from her. But she couldn’t help herself and she blushed when she thought of him leaving the take the last time. Nothing but his swim trunks and soon she would get to see that again, but right now she missed him. Her crush on him was just getting worse and taking over her mind slowly.

through the rising & falling apart, We discover who we are lately molly had felt the sting of school work and late night study groups. it had only been two months into her final year at hogwarts, but she was determined to do well, and her professors were determined to push all their students to work the hardest they had ever in their lives. and for molly, that was working extra hard and putting in the extra mile. she was smart, but she had to work for her grades, and that meant unfortunately putting in the time to do the best she could on her assignments. and somewhere among the assignments and the tests, she had almost forgotten an annual holiday. one that she quite enjoyed, though it wasn't her absolute favourite. and that was halloween.
it was already mid-october and the holiday had yet to be really discussed among her peers. every year hogwarts held a halloween dance, and there were many years where molly and a group of friends had gone together as something silly. to molly halloween wasn't about being scary, or as some girls like to do, dressy trashy. no, she enjoyed the holiday because she could be goofy and cute and could dress up with a bunch of her friends and have a night off to not think about school and to laugh and dance. she had been so focused on school she hadn't discussed costumes with anyone yet. and she was on the hunt now for the first person she needed to talk with, and more or less the only one who mattered.
this halloween she figured that the group of four whom she generally hung around with, that group consisting of alice, arthur, frank and herself, could go together, dressed in matching costumes. she had a few ideas, but she really wanted to discuss them alice, one of her best friends. she would probably have some ideas, or at least some insight into what frank and arthur would willingly dress up in.
molly was all smiles and excitement as she bounced out into the courtyard, finding alice sitting down and plopping herself down beside her. "i've been looking for you missy," molly spoke, jokingly poking at alice. she sat back on her hands, sighing slightly. "we have a problem alice. we have not yet decided, or even discussed what we are going to dress up as for halloween. i'm thinking you, me, frank and arthur go together as something. possible ideas?" molly asked, wanting to get alice's opinion on all of this, but deciding to throw out a couple of ideas of her own. "we could go as fairytale characters, you know little red riding hood, or i heard about this muggle movie 'the wizard of oz'. it has four characters i think. i don't know. what do you think arthur and frank will go for?"
she knew she was speaking fast and was speaking a lot, but she was excited and giddy about the idea. plus this was one of the first time she had been able to just relax and not talk about school or stressful things. she was enjoying this fun girl talk with alice.

Halloween had never really been a big holiday in the Logan household since often it was just her and her mother. Christmas always brought her father home for at least a day and they could pretend to be this happy family. Alice always wanted to be that happy family so it was important to her that she find a boy who wanted that family life just like her. Maybe they would dress up for halloween together and then she could see herself walking around with some children all dressed up in matching outfits. But that was the future and right now Alice needed to focus on this upcoming Halloween. What would she do this year and who would she go out with? So many questions that she had yet to answer even though it was coming up quickly but she knew that one of her female friends would have an answer. In fact she didn't have to wait very long.
As she sat there it only took a few moments before someone joined her and from the voice she knew right away it was Molly. Quickly she turned to face her friend with the same bright smile on her face. "I'm not that hard to find. You just need to get your nose out of your books. I hardly see you anymore." She said with a light hearted tone that she used with her friends. Part of her was worried that she was subconciously avoiding Molly for a certain reason. It might have been subconciously but she had a feeling it was the truth. Frank Longbottom, her ex boyfriend and the boy that Alice had been crushing on for the past month or so. She would die if Molly every found out since Alice lived by a specific set of morals. Friends came first only to family and then came the boys that she wanted to date. It was how life should be and that is how she planned to keep it.
Her brain processed everything that Molly said and she took a moment to wonder about the different ideas. It made her blush when Molly suggested a certain group that would involve her and Frank, but a quick turn of her head would insure that Molly would not notice the blush. "Why do we have to involve the boys? Is it going to be a double date?" She asked jokingly and smiled. The smile covered up her desire to have this double date, assume that it was her and Frank, and Molly and Arthur.
It was weird whenever she saw Frank and Molly together she felt this twinge of envy over her red headed friend. How did she command Frank's attention like that without even lifting a fringer. He was just draw her to and not Alice. "What is Wizard of Oz?" She asked since she was unfamiliar with the title. "And who would we dress up as? Obviously group costumes were way more fun than just dressing up by yourself. But she wanted the right costume to get her noticed. Halloween was the time to get noticed. "I like the idea of fairy tale characters. You could be little red riding hood with your red hair. This is going to be so much fun." She added and giggled at the idea of customes.

through the rising & falling apart, We discover who we are molly couldn't help but laugh as alice chided her for spending too much time in the books. it was true. she, along with what seemed to be the rest of the seventh year class, had fallen hard into their school work and were spending ample amounts of time with their nose in their books. that was all the houses, not just the ravenclaws, where it was a normal occurrence. she missed spending time with alice. alice was still a year younger than molly, so the pressure wasn't as great as it was for her. she was always a little jealous of the year younger than her and her friends that were younger, as they never seemed to have the amount of work that she did. but then again, how could she be jealous when she knew they would be going through it in only a year.
she was thankful for this time away from thinking about schoolwork and hanging out with alice. they needed more girl time together anyways. lately they had been more regularly in the group of four, or even a larger group. molly missed spending time with just alice, as they were very close friends. and sometimes after dealing with frank and arthur after so long, molly craved female companionship. molly felt relaxed right now, alongside alice as they discussed halloween and halloween costumes. she listened as alice spoke of them not needing to go with the boys if they didn't want to. if it was supposed to be a double date? molly shrewd her face slightly and laughed. "no silly, i didn't mean like a double date! i was just thinking a group. that is.. unless you're telling me something and you have the hots for a mister arthur wesley?" molly quirked her eye at alice, her voice teasing as she nudged alice with her shoulder. molly had never thought seriously about alice with either arthur or frank honestly. arthur hadn't really seemed to be interested in anyone, or at least from what molly could tell. he was single most of the time they were at hogwarts, though he flirted with girls. he seemed a little shyer than say frank, but he was sweet and perhaps he and alice were secretly hitting it off or crushing on one another? and then there was frank. frank and alice? the idea fleeted into her head and almost out immediately. somehow she couldn't see the two of them together. as friends, for sure, but as more? frank was her best friend in the whole world, and her ex boyfriend. they were so much to one another. neither of them had really even dated since their break up, and though they had broken up, they still cared for one another and remained close. probably closer than anyone around them felt comfortable with. but the two of them didn't mind, so why should anyone else care? she really had a hard time seeing frank with anyone else. it was selfish, but he was her frank. but molly really had nothing to worry about because they were just four best friends. no one was interested in anyone else and nothing between them was going to change. besides, if something was going on, frank would tell her, wouldn't he?
"the wizard of oz, from what i've been told, is some sort of movie involving a girl, a scarecrow, a tin man, and a talking lion," she rambled on, trying to explain to alice the pretext behind this muggle movie. she had only been told about it through her friend mary, but alice was right, the idea probably wouldn't be a good one. the idea of trying to explain who they were all night to their peers didn't sound too appealing and molly could see that becoming old quickly. "i think it would be better to be fairy tale characters too," she agreed. now all they had to do would be to figure out who would be who and what they would dress up as. alice suggested that molly dress up as little red riding hood, and molly giggled, liking the thought and the concept of her with a red cape going well with her red hair. "little red riding hood seems good to me. we could get one of the boys to dress up as either the huntsman or the wolf," she giggled picturing either of the boys dressing up alongside her. "you should dress up as sleeping beauty or cinderella! then the other boy can dress up as your prince charming. now tell me what guy wouldn't want to pretend to be prince charming for the night?" she was making a suggestion, but really it would be up for alice to decide what character she would like to dress up as.
though molly liked the idea of fairy tale characters better than that of the wizard of oz idea she had thrown up, the problem with the fairytale characters were they did separate two couples, which the four of them were not. she hoped they could just keep it as all friends and a group, still going as the group rather than in pairs. but then again, would it have been the end of the world if she had to go to a dance with frank? or arthur? she was more comfortable with frank, and hadn't spent a whole lot of time with arthur lately, but she wouldn't mind. in fact, arthur seemed to be quite busy all the time lately when molly seemed to be around. she hoped it wasn't something she did and he would still want to go with all of them to the dance. but the whole point of this was to spend time with her girlfriend alice. perhaps they could ditch the boys? but molly didn't want that either. whatever. she was sure they would figure it out and it would all work out.

The irony of chiding Molly for getting her nose out of the books amused Alice since she herself had begun to sink further and further into her studies. But she was determined to make something of herself and leave a lasting impact in someone's life. Actually she fell in love with the idea of being an Auror when she was younger. Her father had been her hero growing up and following him around at bring your child to work day had opened her eyes to the job. Now that she was getting closer to graduating she knew that she needed the perfect grades in the right classes to get that job. For the summer she planned on working on the physical aspects as well so she would be toned up and fighting ready. Then during her seventh year she would finalize her grades and hopefully leave Hogwarts with an invitation to work as an Auror. But the idea of special treatment since her father was already a decorated Auror had occured to her and she hoped that it did not happen, but she was more than willing to prove herself time after time if it came to it.
Alice did always consider herself more of a girly girl since her male friends were limited to the ones she hung out with in a group. It was just that she liked female companionship when it came to selecting her friends. However there were boys that hung around with Alice and she considered herself friends with them. Then Molly answered her question about it being a double date or not and Alice just laughed at her own silliness. But then she realized that now she had to pretend like she was not developing a crush on either of them. "Oh no... I am not interested in dating now. Not with all of this schoolwork and stuff going on. Arthur is cute though but he just isn't what I am looking for in a boyfriend." She replied in a very light and happy tone. Arthur was a great guy but she never saw herself with him. Maybe she was just took picky about which guys she dating or maybe she was trying to leave herself available in case a certain Frank Longbottom ever did come around to the idea of dating a girl who was just some plain jane. It was still weird to think that she was falling for someone with so much charm and so much baggage. There were girls who had their hearts broken by frank and she was seriously thinking about being with him. It was trouble waiting to happen but she still found the need to have a crush on him. There was no controlling her mind and her thoughts about it.
When Molly began explaining the movie Alice perked up and laughed at the idea of a talking loin. "But there is only one female character. We need something with two females for us to dress up as." She added. Part of her did not want to dress up like a talking lion since she still wanted to look like a girl. Then Molly agreed to be little red riding hood and Alice smiled since she knew that Molly would look adorable in a little red cape. Next ideas for Alice were thrown around. "I like both ideas.. or maybe I could be Alice from Alice in Wonderland and one of the guys can be my white rabbit!" She siad and smiled at the thought of one of the boys dressed up as a little white rabbit. "So... would you be going with Frank or with Arthur?" Of course the next topic they would have to sort out would be which girl was going to go with which guy. Suddenly Alice wanted to be honest with Molly and her attidute changed slightly. She became a little more quiet and serious as she looked back at Molly.
"Can I talk to you about something and you won't get mad at me?" She asked. "I mean I know that we are friends but... I have been sort of developing this crush on one of your ex boyfriends." She was not ready to use a name but just the thought of the name made her heart flutter again in her chest. Molly was going to be so upset with her when she found out and now Alice was more concerned with preserving their friendship. "Friendship should come first and I doubt that he will even want to be seen with a girl like me." Now she was babbling like an idiot but she couldn't stop herself once she started. "I don't know Molly... he probably won't even notice me since he is always focused on you but I just have this crush on him and I want him to notice me."

through the rising & falling apart, We discover who we are as they debated back and forth between halloween costumes, molly was fairly sure they were beginning to get somewhere. fairytale characters it was. she would dress up as little red riding hood and then whomever wished to go along with her would dress up as either the wolf, or the huntsman. then, alice would dress up as alice from alice in wonderland and the boy could go as the white rabbit, or perhaps the mad hatter if that was what he chose. but it was just a matter or whom would go with whom. as alice asked molly which one she would prefer to go with, indifference crossed her mind. she didn't really matter which guy she went with considering they probably would all be hanging out through the night and she would see the other boy throughout the night. it wasn't like we were going as two sets of dates, were they? no, they were simply going as a group of friends, so then it really didn't matter to molly whom she went with. sure, frank would seem to be the obvious choice as they were still best friends and molly knew she would have a great time with frank no matter what, but she could have a good time with arthur. this would just be more time to get to know him, and hopefully get more comfortable around him. they had been friends forever, but they lacked the comfort molly felt around frank. unless there was a certain someone that alice would had preferred to go with. "i'm really indifferent to whom goes with who. we could always let the guys decide. unless you have a preference?" molly cocked her eyebrow up at alice, unsure if there was something alice was hiding from her.
"can i talk to you about something and you won't get mad at me?" alice questioned and molly's face went from light and teasing to serious and compassionate. "of course al, anything. i promise i won't get mad," molly said, her hand reading out to lightly touch alice's in support. whatever alice had to tell her she was not going to get upset or angry about she promised herself right then and there. at least, she doubted alice could do anything that would bring molly to that point. she was one of her best friends after all, and she trusted alice with anything.
she listened intently as alice continued speaking and was surprised when alice confessed to having a crush on one of molly's ex boyfriends. for a moment molly racked her brain with whom she could be thinking about. not that molly dated many guys, but there were guys she had been on a few dates with and molly wasn't sure if that was whom alice was regarding as an ex, or if it was someone whom she had spent months, or even years with. well there was only one person whom she had spent that long with, and really only one person who was significant as an ex, and that was frank. but there was sirius whom she had crushed on lately, and a couple others. molly really had no idea whom she was speaking of, but alice continued to rant, and molly could tell she was nervous and anxious.
"friendship should come first and I doubt that he will even want to be seen with a girl like me. i don't know molly... he probably won't even notice me since he is always focused on you but I just have this crush on him and I want him to notice me." when she stopped rambling, molly's thoughts swirled through her mind. of course friendship was important, but if she was a true friend to alice she wouldn't be upset if she started dating one of her ex-boyfriends. besides, none of her ex-boyfriends were bad people, they were either young love, or not right for her. didn't mean they weren't right for someone else. alice's words replayed through her mind. she was comparing herself so much to her, and she didn't like that. alice was just as pretty, just as sweet and just as smart as molly, if not more in areas. alice was a beautiful person and she deserved anything someone could give her. she shouldn't be putting herself down. but then the words hit her in another way. "he probably won't even notice me since he is always focused on you". there was only one person whom people could take his actions the wrong way about still being hung up on molly. and that was frank.
molly couldn't help that the thought hit her a little harder than she had wanted. was it frank she was crushing on? her frank? the one person she was super close with and had been her first love. the frank that knew molly inside and out and still came to family christmas because they had remained so close. she knew that her and frank weren't together and she knew there was nothing more between them, but would things stop when the other person got someone new? a pain struck her heart as she thought about losing frank to someone else. but he wasn't hers to lose now was he? but if she was to lose him to anyone, wouldn't she have wanted to be alice out of anyone? finally speaking in the best, calmest way she could, molly spoke, "alice, do you have a crush on frank?" that was the only way she would know for sure. she was ninety percent sure it was frank, but just to make sure she wanted to hear it from alice.

She loved the play on her name and although some might think it would get old to Alice it was still as funny as ever. Often she felt herself daydreaming about her own little wonderland and what sort of creatures she might encounter. As she got older though it became less and less about the creatures and more about a certian person going with her down the rabbit hole. Almost leading her that as the white rabbit did to Alice. So although the mad hatter might be the better choice for a halloween custome there was something that Alice was drown to about the white rabbit and all of its mystery. The rabbit was charming enough to get Alice to just fall right down the hole but still she did not know much about him, other than he worked for the Red Queen. So symbolic to Alice and her life that it was almost scary. Not that she considered Molly to be the evil Red Queen. It was just a play on the red hair in her mind but Alice was again off her in own little wonderland as they spoke.
But being asked about her preference for date to the Halloween dance really made her nervous. Her breath quickened ever so slightly as a panic arose in her throat. It danced up and down as it took her breath and made her want to die as she spilt her guts to her best friend. But once she started then everything began to flow so quickly out of her mouth that she couldn't contain herself and she knew that this whole conversation was confusing and probably hurtful to Molly. Friends should always come first and if only Molly told her to just lay off then Alice would forget her stupid thoughts and move on. But for some reason she couldn't just force herself to move on without being told to do so. "But... I just know you will get mad at me for developing this crush on this boy. You and him are so cute together and I know that you are exs but I don't know you are like secretly hoping to get back together with him or something." There she went again on another blerb of speech as she tried so deperately to explain herself.
There was just quiet and Alice knew that Molly was upset with her over this. Or probably just super confused since she had yet to say the boys name but Alice assumed that she had been fairly obvious with who it was. How many of Molly's exs still hung around like Frank did? And Alice kept questioning herself for making this move towards her ex. It felt like she was getting excited for nothing since she knew that Frank Longbottom was not interested in Molly's blond best friend. Besides he was too cool and he came from a better family than she did but still a girl could hope.
Then Molly asked if it was Frank and very slowly Alice nodded her head. ".... yeah." She admitted to Molly and as she spoke the word yeah it felt like a weight had been slid off her chest. But was quickly replaced by the fear of how Molly would react to her. "I'm sorry Molly... if you want him then just say the word and I will avoid him and stop this silly crush. I value you way more than some boy." Apologize and just make this better was her theory for winning back Molly since she could not live without her best friend in the whole world. The wait was awful and she could just feel herself getting upset.
(Sorry it took me a while to reply but here it is!)
