--------------------------------I think I'm falling in love with you My heart is beating faster than I want it to--------------------------------- Lily always loved going to Hogsmeade on the weekends. It gave her a chance to mull things over before returning back to the castle. She had a lot of things on her mind as of late. She had talked with Severus and hoping that the two would be reconciled. She doubt it but it wouldn’t harm her to think about their relationship in the future. And then there was the whole conversation with James. She had told him that she loved him. Not hate, loved. It did came as a shock to her when he had agreed on her terms. She would give him only one chance. If he did something major to mess it up then he would simply forget about asking her out again. Why did she had the sudden feeling that things would end up going wrong on the first date? A frown appeared on her face as she ran a hand through her hair. It did look like he was trying whenever the two would cross paths. Lily quickly dodged the flow of students that were already in front of her and have the same destination in mind. She eyed them before moving on. Honestly, she half expected that James would go back to the Gryffindor Common Room to brag about having gotten Lily on his good side. She was surprised to find out that she had been wrong. I bet he’s waiting until the date to say something, she thought with a sigh.
In either case she would have to keep a close watch on him. Thankfully she had friends who would do that for her. The corners of her lips twitched upwards into a smile as she made her way to the sweetshop. She was receiving many odd looks from the students but she shrugged it off. Lily Evans does enjoy sweets from time to time. She considered it one of her weaknesses. It paid off to because she eats a lot and never gains a pound. A thoughtful look crossed her features as she entered the shop. Maybe she would pick up a couple of items to send off to her parents. For a brief moment she thought about doing the same thing with Petunia but she quickly shot that idea down. Even before she had gotten her letter, Petunia had made it perfectly clear she wanted nothing to do with her sister and her freakish ways. Lily considered it a relief when she moved to pursue a career. It did hurt the sixteen year old that the two girls were not as close as they were before. She bit down on her lower lip as she got a couple of sweets and paid for them. Lily returned the thanks as the cashier handed her the items back. She stored it in the pockets of her robes before turning and walking out. There were a couple of shops that were already on her mind.
The subject of her conversation with James kept on popping in her mind against her will. No, she thought to herself firmly. Can’t think about that now. Think later. Of course her mind was a funny thing, often disobeying her and running on its own. Thoughts would creep up every now and then. Some pleasant and some were not. Oh the joys, she thought with a note of sarcasm. Not watching where she was going she bumped into a student. “Omphp! Sorry! I wasn’t watching where I was going.” She took a couple of steps back and a good look at the person that she had bumped into. He looked to be around the same age as she was and wearing Slytherin colors. She frowned as she continued to look at him. “I’m pretty sure I seen you around the halls before.” [/blockquote] Tagged!? He'd been minding his own business, resting against one of the magical street lamps. His green eyes were closed as Balthazar relaxed, allowing his mind to wander as he did so. His thoughts revolved around Rita Skeeter, he and her parents' had arranged their marriage since they were small and now that they knew exactly what it meant, Balthazar couldn't have been happier.
Then, the Mudblood came along. He opened his eyes just in time to see a shock of red hair before thud the clumsy disgusting thing ran into him! Without much thought, his hand shot into her bag, snatching out her coin purse and sliding it into his own pocket faster than Thing could even react. "Well duh." Balthazar said with a sneer "Of course ye weren't." were all Mudbloods this stupid? He figured they were. Brushing his clothes off, which were now tainted with mudblood germs, the Slytherin rolled his eyes, "Well now, don't ye win the prize fer stating the obvious?" he said, sarcasm dripping from his every word. His Irish accent made him stand out a bit, but he didn't really care.
"......Name's Balthazar Xander." He said, keeping his arms at his sides. There was no way he was touching the mudblood's hand. He'd rather handle dung that had come from a violently ill dragon without gloves on than touch a mudblood. "And I know who ye are. Lily Evans." but he wouldn't be calling her that at all, "Look Thing." He said, "Run along now. Your smell offends me." He could tell he was annoying the mudblood, but he didn't care. Its kind didn't deserve to be treated with respect in the slightest. He knew the thing wouldn't notice its money missing until it was too late, and even then, it couldn't prove he'd taken the coins in the first place. His hands were in his pockets, the one with the money in it, was busily untying the drawstring at the top and emptying the contents into his pocket. Then, while Lily was busy glaring at him Balthazar tossed the empty sack down on the ground to her left, as if it could have fallen from her bag when she'd so stupidly run into him.
He stepped away from the street light, sneering at Lily, as if she were some sort of bug that needed to be stepped on. "Actually, ye can stay here if ye like, I doona care Thing." He told her, and walked backward away from her, knowing that it would be foolish to insult her, and then turn his back on the mudblood. "It's amazing isn't it?" He asked after a moment, "The fact that despite having tainted blood and smelling like a horse's ass, the Headmaster still allows filth like ye to walk around free as a bird." he laughed cruelly at the expression on her face. These people were far too much fun to mess with.
They were all the same, so proud of their magic and so easy to anger when insulted about their disgusting bloodline. Balthazar wished they were alone, so he could really start to bother Lily. He wished he knew her a little bit more, but then again, maybe he didn't have to. ".......You know that Potter guy. The one mooning after ye?" He asked, "I overheard him one day talking about ye, and-" He cut himself off, shaking his head. "Nah, I shouldna tell ye." And he sighed, "Also....I'm sorry about before." He walked closer, "I've jes been having a horrible week.....see .....me cat Cream died... someone slipped her poison." he even had tears in his eyes as he spoke. Quickly, he looked away to wipe them from his face.
"S-....sorry. It's jes.....she meant so much to me.....and now she's...." he shuddered and then sighed deeply and looked to Lily again, "I'm sorry......Lily." he stared at her sadly, but his inner thoughts were about how she might actually fall for it.
Words: 668 Thoughts: Balthazar's such a jerk.
