WIDE AWAKE, MY MISTAKE, SO PREDICTABLEyou were fake i was great nothing personal These days, it didn’t take much to get Rodolphus Lestrange in a bad mood. Just a dark glare aimed his way would set him off, ranting and raving, his wand out and cursing the culrpit. It was terribly uncivilised behaviour and completely out of the ordinary for the Slytherin seventh year who was usually so much more composed and restrained. Yes, it wasn’t unheard of for him to lose his temper but to do so, so quickly and over the smallest of things was a bit more unusual. He was in a perpetual bad mood. The reason? Quite simply, Rod was fed up. Fed up of being trapped inside the castle with so many useless, moronic people. Students and professors alike were getting on his nerves and he had been tipped over the edge into complete and utter fury last Wednesday in the middle of transfiguration when McGonagall had told him he needed to buck up his ideas. Rod had told her where to go and stormed out of the classroom.
No, it wasn’t a very good idea. Every Slytherin student knew that McGonagall disliked them greatly anyway but Rod had had enough of being treated like just another student when he was so much better than the rest of them. And he didn’t need Professor bloody McGonagall’s approval to prove it. He wished he could shout from the highest turrets of the Astronomy tower what he had achieved outside of the classroom but he knew he had to bide his time, the Dark Lord was not ready yet. But when he was, Rod could prove not only to the inhabitants of Hogwarts, but to the world that he was amongst the greatest. He was just growing impatient waiting for that moment to arrive. It was a Monday evening and he was supposed to be serving the first of many detentions McGonagall had issued him with but Rodolphus Lestrange was above such petty things as detention and so his destination instead of the transfiguration professor’s study, was the Hog’s Head.
He needed to get out of the castle, needed to get away from that feeling of being trapped, confined, beaten down and treated like the rest of the scum that walked the hallways before he did something absolutely ridiculous. He was feeling volatile already, he needed to calm down and quickly and the pub was the best place to do that. A few drinks in his system and he’d relax somewhat, of that he was sure. It was a dreary evening, the dark clouds emitting a fine rain causing the streets of Hogsmeade to look darker than it should be at this hour. But dark was how Rod liked things, the darkness was full of things that went bump in the night; he should know, he was one of them. With a bang of the door he entered the Hog’s Head, not bothering to look around the place as he didn’t care for its inhabitants it would be full of low lives there was no doubt about that. He demanded a bottle of firewhiskey, the look in his eyes told the barman it was best to obey and he did so in exchange for a galleon or two. No one said no to Rodolphus Lestrange if they knew what was good for them.
Picking up his bottle and the glass that was handed to him, Rod downed his first drink of many and then spun on the spot, a glare darkening his expression, finding himself almost bumping into someone behind him. "Watch it!" He snarled, taking a step back to get a better view of whoever was unfortunate enough to be in his way.

September. It was the start of Hogwarts; the start of a brand new school year, and the last for seventh year students for Ellen. For all of her six other years of school the first day of Hogwarts was the best day of the year. Hogwarts meant learning new and exciting things, playing intense qudditch matches, and re-acquainting with old friends. This year, unfortunately, Ellen did not expect the same camaraderie as she had experienced in her previous years. She had quit the quidditch team, and had intentions in devoting almost all of her time to bettering her grades. In other words she had become a bit of a kill joy. Her friends and family members were all worried that she had become like this as a result of her lack of grieving for her brother. Whenever somebody said this to her she got quite angry. That would mean she was depressed, and Ellen was certainly not depressed.
The death had hit her a lot harder than she wanted it to. Even without a massive tragedy hanging over her head, Ellen had trouble showing grief or really any super strong emotions; she had a tendency to bottle and keep things inside. She hated to admit it to herself, but that was exactly what she was doing with her brother's death. Ellen simply couldn't handle losing her brother and best friend especially when it was caused by something he loved, no, something both of them loved. Their tradition of playing quidditch was tainted by his passing. Now Ellen didn't even want to look at a broomstick, not did she want to go to any pro quidditch games. The only thing she managed to hate more than the game was the sympathy she was getting. It was extremely hard for her to forget when everyone was telling her how sorry they were, or when people left grief casseroles and angel food cake.
After the first few days of school the stress and anxiety had become exceedingly hard for her to manage. There were points in the day when she wanted to simply sit down, give up, and then cry her eyes out. That was probably healthy, but she just couldn't do it. Ellen wouldn't let herself cry over anything--her brother's death included. Everyone had told her that this would all catch up to her; she didn't believe it then and she was certainly not about to believe it now. All she knew was that she had to escape even if that meant breaking school policies. As Head Girl she was risking losing her title, and getting severely reprimanded for actions. Ellen didn't really care at that moment, if she didn't escape there would be little pieces of her everywhere. These pieces would probably not be the pretty ones either.
She thought long and hard about the places she could run away to for just an evening. Somewhere where no one would ask her any questions, or report her to the Headmaster. Eventually she settled on the Hog's Head, and under a dreary, rainy night she found herself in the shady bar. She wasn't thinking about much of anything, and her movement was very mechanic. When she ran into someone in front of her she wasn't entirely surprised. That's what you got when you were completely zoned out. Her mind didn't register who the owner of the words were until it was too late. Now she was in for it.
Just like clockwork, Ellen took a seat by Rodolphus Lestrange (even though she really didn't want to). "It's lovely to see you too!" Her voice had a highly sarcastic drawl to it which managed to stay in her when she ordered a firewhiskey. She had intended to have a drunken evening alone without anyone she knew, Rodolphus Lestrange was not who she expected. He was repugnant, abusive, and downright mean. "Go ahead and curse me if you want to, I've heard that's your new favorite past time."

WIDE AWAKE, MY MISTAKE, SO PREDICTABLEyou were fake i was great nothing personal Automatically, Rod tried to reach for his wand but that wasn’t going to work considering that his hands were full. Not to mention that although the pub seemed to be all but deserted, he didn’t want to cause a scene. Cursing someone in Hogsmeade was probably not wise, it would cause a lot of problems for him and although he was sure he could get out of a court hearing, he didn’t want to have to deal with the hassle. This only increased his temper as he was forced to simply glower at the perpetrator. It did enable him however to get a good look at the person who had avoided his wand. He recognised his fellow seventh year instantly and she wasn’t the girl he usually turned to in order to cure his bad moods. Ellen Leyden was someone he didn’t care much for at all. The simple fact that her house was Gryffindor was enough to get her in his bad books and over the years he hadn’t been beneath irritating her. He hoped she realised how fortunate she was.
With an unsatisfied snarl he sat himself down. He was annoyed. He’d been denied the chance to hex someone who he didn’t particularly like and he didn’t like having to watch his behaviour. Frankly he was fed up of having to act the high and mighty pureblood, not because that wasn’t what he was, of course he was proud and saw himself as above everybody else but the expectations that accompanied that; the reluctance to show too much emotion, to not give anything away and to be refined and good-mannered wasn’t really what Rodolphus was about. He wanted nothing more than to storm around angrily and act uncivilised if he so wished. But he couldn’t because his fellow Slytherins expected better. Although the last few days he had done just that and he was beginning to draw disapproving looks from his peers, including those younger than him which meant the older students were growing ever more dissatisfied considering he was supposed to be setting a good example.
That was why he was here, away from them all and yanking the cork from the bottle of firewhiskey with more force than necessary, pouring the liquid unceremoniously into his empty glass and draining it once more. The burning taste soothed him somewhat but if he was going to get this all out of his system he needed to drink a lot more. Hence the pouring of another glass. Slightly surprised, he felt Ellen sit next to him and order herself a drink. He was confused. She was head girl was she not? A stuck-up teacher’s pet who would go out of her way to stay on the right side of the line?
He smirked arrogantly at her words but didn’t say anything. It would do him no good to admit that yes, he did like to curse people, got rather a good kick from it in fact, because it was all rumours and speculation. It was true, but no one had ever heard the words come from Rodolphus’ mouth (except people who now feared for their life and so they weren’t telling were they?) and therefore no one could be one hundred percent certain. He did quite like that everyone seemed to know though it meant people saw him as someone to fear. ”What are you doing here?” He asked, his eyes narrowed and a suspicious look on his face. ”if you’ve come to drag me back to school in an attempt to be a good head girl then I’m afraid your efforts are wasted. I’m not going anywhere. I'm not in the mood.” He looked her up and down as if sizing her abilities up. And his appraisal concluded that no, she was not good enough.

Ellen couldn't help but feel incredibly lucky to be running into Rodolphus in a public establishment. If this had been a random corridor in Hogwarts she'd probably have no chance against him. Watching him squirm because he had to tolerate her was so fulfilling she had to keep herself from smiling. To say that Ellen didn't like Rodolphus was a complete understatement; she couldn't stand the sight of him. Surprisingly this did not take root in the fact he was from the Slytherin House (frankly she didn't care); it was his arrogance, pureblood superiority, and the fact he was an ass that contributed to her intense loathing for him. Rodolphus himself only really hated her because she was a Gryffindor AND from a family of blood traitors. For her it didn't matter what house he was in, it was his attitude towards people that was repugnant.
His inability to mask his disappointment entertained her immensely. One of these days his fiery temper would bite him back if it hadn't already, and Ellen would pay big bucks to see that day. Even though she wanted to be there for his eventual downfall, Ellen felt truly sorry for him at times. It was unspeakable for a mudblood to feel sympathy for a pureblood according to the rigid caste system, but she simply didn't see the glamor in coming from a non-unified family who didn't love you for you. Ellen would take her lame half muggle family who loved every bit of her over a socially accepted family who only loved the pretty bits and pieces of her. Even her friends were more true to her than his, his were more like minions than confidantes. One bad move would result in his downfall. She figured that it would be exhausting having to constantly put on airs.
Aside from having to stomach her Slytherin schoolmate, she felt a bit out of place at the Hog's Head. Ellen was a sophisticated, intelligent woman, and bringing herself to the level of a low life bar was a huge stretch. One she was willing to take to keep her cover...which was blown now that she was with Rod. The people around her were dirty and only slightly on the creepy side. She just had to keep telling herself she was here for her own sanity. Being around people and things that reminded her of her brother made her crazy, and one night in a shady bar away from it all would do her good even if it was beside Rodolphus Lestrange.
All her feelings of being out of place were confirmed when the devil himself asked her what she was doing here. In honesty she didn't fully know the answer to that. Her initial intention was to escape the craziness, but she was sure as soon as she said that he'd laugh. The Hog's Head was just as crazy, if not more, than Hogwarts. Ellen took a sip of her drink. If she was going to stomach this conversation she'd have to be very, very, very drunk. "Already getting defensive Lestrange?" She asked with a raised brow. Honestly, how could he be so arrogant to think she'd come all the way here to bring him back to the school. Frankly Hogwarts was better with one less crazy; Head Girl or not she wouldn't be the one to bring him back. "No, I'm not here for you," she paused to strategically think out her words. "I just had to get away from the insanity." There. That was safe enough, after all every teenager felt the pressure of the education system eventually (even the brightest and the best). "And why are you here? The Hog's Head isn't exactly the ideal place for Rodolphus Lestrange the proud pureblood."

WIDE AWAKE, MY MISTAKE, SO PREDICTABLEyou were fake i was great nothing personal Sitting with his elbows resting on the counter, Rodolphus’ left boot beat out a steady rhythm on the floor of the pub. Tapping his foot was done for a number of reasons, it was a habit he often didn’t realise he was doing but it generally meant he was bored, nervous or cross. Three guesses as to which it was today. Did he really want to be sitting here sharing his time with this girl? No. Of all the people to walk through that door, well, Rod was in the mood where he wished the door had stayed closed but he maybe wouldn’t have minded too much if Bellatrix had stalked inside. Not that she ever made much of an appearance at the Hog’s Head but still. If Rod was here then she would undoubtedly go with him; he could be persuasive like that. Thinking about her made a small smile creep onto his lips but instead he was sharing his time with a Gryffindor whom he didn’t particularly like and who he knew didn’t particularly like him. And already she was getting on his nerves.
He didn’t need to explain himself to her, he didn’t need to tell her exactly why he was being defensive, it would mean he’d snap at her again and that would only give her satisfaction. But he wanted to reiterate that he was in a bad mood. ”I’m not being defensive, I’m in a bad mood. And most people know not to enrage me any further if they want to stay in one piece. You of all people should know that, Leyden.” He sneered at her, his mind wandering, as he hoped hers would back to a few years ago when he had pushed her into the black lake knowing that she had a huge fear of water. And apparently she wasn’t here for him well that was good to know. At least he could drink himself to oblivion without the fear of detention and loss of house points. Maybe he could convince her to do the same, he quite enjoyed telling people what to do and have them obey his orders.
”You just had to get away from the insanity.” Rod repeated. Repeating what others said was a strange habit of his. He wasn’t sure why he did it; he used to whisper everything the converser said when he was a child, much to his father’s annoyance. A smirk grew once more on his face because the irony of it was not lost on him; many thought he was insane. At her last words though, the frown reappeared and he too took a moment or two to think of a diplomatic reply. ”I was hoping that by choosing a more. . .” His despising gaze cast around the place, ”Lowly spot, I would not run in to anybody unwelcome.” He raised an eyebrow, looking pointedly at her. ”Though I expect you assumed the same.” He wasn’t bothered that she detested him, the feeling was of course mutual.
With a frown, Rod watched her take a small sip of her drink. ”What was that?” He burst out before he could stop himself. ”You want to get away, you need to drink more and faster.” He leaned over and topped up her glass with his own bottle of firewhiskey and then held up his own glass, indicating that she should do the same. ”On the count of three, you down it, ok? One, two, three.” Rod lifted the drink to his lips, tipping it down his throat, the mixture burning pleasantly, the alcohol beginning to affect his head already. He could feel the buzz. He had his eyes closed, savouring the taste for a moment or two before blinking them open to see if Ellen had actually followed his orders.

As a writer, Ellen was trained to be a watcher from the time she was a little girl. Every single day she picked up something new, something exciting, and something innovative from observing the students of Hogwarts, and it helped her tremendously when it came time to sit and write a story. There were elements of the students of Hogwarts in just about everything she wrote. Sitting at the Hog's Head, watching Rodolphus was a learning experience. This was a rare occurrence, and one she probably would never witness ever again. Ellen was seeing Rodolphus without any of his cohorts around him, and that in itself was enough to convince her to stay. Mentally she noted his compulsive habit of tapping his foot, and she couldn't help by wonder what brought about this. Was it nerves? Anger? Annoyance? She figured it was a mix of the last two. It didn't take a genius to realize that they hated each other.
There was nothing Ellen wanted to do more than slap the Slytherin across the face and teach him some manners. As a Gryffindor she nearly did just that. Thankfully the wise part of her stopped her from performing the fatal deed. "Now that's a change of events. Rodolphus Lestrange is in a bad mood." Her voice dripped of sarcasm. She knew that he had three distinct emotions: grumpy, grumpier, and pissed off. "You know, you should really try happy for a change. Never know it might surprise you." A part of her wished she hadn't said that...she was pushing her luck, and Ellen certainly did not want to relive a dunk in the Black Lake or in any body of water for that matter. Rodolphus was the type to exploit people's fears without question so she didn't put it past him to put her through another traumatic experience of nearly drowning.
Listening to him repeat her words only made the irony of the situation more laughable. She wanted to escape the crazy, but instead she found THE crazy. Coming to terms with the change of events was tough for her, but her ability to turn it into a learning experience helped her accept the fact her night would be spent with the resident Slytherin bad boy. When he explained his choice of venue she couldn't help but smile. She actually shared a thought similar to that of Rodolphus Lestrange. The world truly was coming to an end. "That is exactly what I was aiming for. It was like you took the words right out of my mouth." The moment she got back to Hogwarts she was crossing the Hog's Head right off her list of places to run away to. Next time she'd try a muggle bar. After all there was no way she'd run into a Slytherin Pureblood in such a place.
Ellen's eyes widened as he filled up her glass. Sure she had talked about coming out here to get drunk, but Ellen probably wouldn't have actually done it. She wasn't the drinking kind, and even that tiny little sip of firewhisky made her feel a on edge. Downing a whole glass's worth of the alcohol would probably not go over well. "I don't know. I've never actually been drunk before." Control Freaks like her had a tendency to like having the ability to make their own decisions without a cloudy head. Nervously she held up her glass as Rodolphus had motioned for her to do, and downed the potent contents of the glass. Tonight was the night she wasn't going to think about anything other than letting go. She was here with Rodolphus Lestrange, what was a little drunkenness? Her vision was a bit blurred, and she was beginning to feel herself lose control for the first time in her life. "You are a bad influence Rodolphus Lestrange." She said with a grin.

WIDE AWAKE, MY MISTAKE, SO PREDICTABLEyou were fake i was great nothing personal It was with a roll of his eyes that Rod replied to her. Happy was not an emotion he generally dealt with. In normal day to day situations he was rarely any emotion but grouchy. The only times he ever had a smile on his face were when he was alone in a room with a certain Slytherin girl or allowing himself to have a little torture session with a insolent first year mudblood. Or as rather recently, a Ravenclaw blood traitor. That was when Rod was happy; when someone else was suffering. Although, contemplating Ellen now, she didn’t seem particularly rosy herself. ”Believe me you don’t want me happy, it’ll mean that your life is hanging in the balance.” He smirked at her (the only remote sign of pleasure he ever illustrated) and his eyes glinted dangerously as they often did when he was thinking nefarious things.
If he was being honest, he had expected, after he made his point that he had not wanted to run into anyone unwelcome, that she would get up and leave. Either she had not noticed the hint (which was probably since she was a Gryffindor and therefore only liked to hear what she wanted to hear) or, more likely, she was ignoring it (again, as a Gryffindor, they tended to make reckless decisions like choose to hang out in shallow bars with psycho Slytherins). Either way it looked like he was stuck with her company and so Rod was going to make the most of it. Perhaps he could almost be charming to a Gryffindor if he had enough alcohol in him. Oddly, he was willing to try. He wasn’t a ‘bucket list’ kind of guy and if he didn’t want to do something he wouldn’t. He knew full well that if he wanted to get rid of her, he could, it would only be too easy and he wouldn’t even have to make a scene. But he supposed that if were to write a list of things to do before he died, hanging out with a Gryffindor would probably be on there. They say there’s a first time for everything. And so, with a halt of his foot tapping and after running a hand through his hair he gave the table a ‘well, if I must’ look.
Another smirk appeared on his face as she admitted to never being drunk before. He looked up at her but he was not at all surprised. ”A lot of firsts tonight then. Who’d have thought you’d lose your drunken virginity with me?” He had thought that that admittance would mean she wouldn’t follow his instructions but she did. Maybe she really did want to escape. He had a feeling that not for the first time tonight, she had surprised him and he took full pride in seeing her face as she finished the glass. There was something about having people obey him that helped increase his buzz. It was an interesting turn of events. The Head Girl was willing to take instruction from Rodolphus Lestrange. She obviously had a reckless streak in her after all. It made Rod want to stick around and find out more.
He replied to her grin with a chuckle that actually held a slice of humour to it as he leaned over to fill her glass up again taking it carefully from her hands as he did so, his fingers brushing hers. He shot her a look at the contact that was neither malicious nor cheerful. He was merely content; this was where he felt most at ease, drinking in a bar with a girl and with no one around to judge him for his choice of company he could easily let go. As it seemed Ellen was doing as well. He shook his head, a small smile twitching his lips because he actually did find her words amusing. ”I’m a lot of things, Ellen Leyden" He took a sip of his drink, peering at her over his glass, ”I think you’d be surprised.” Yes he was flirting with her. It was unlikely either of them would remember much of this tomorrow anyway.

Even though his statement was said in a slightly sarcastic way, Ellen still believed every word of it. Rodolphus was not really the kind of person you would want to cross, or be the subject of his 'entertainment.' It was very true that she could hold herself well when it came to casting spells, but she didn't really like to hurt people even if they were sadistic and slightly scary. That held her at a complete disadvantage if she ever got into a fight with him; he appeared to have no sanctity for human life. "You don't need to convince me. I believe you." If a grumpy Rodolphus meant keeping her sanity and not being at the brink of death she would take it with open arms. How he could to stand to live that way--she had no idea. The better question was why he would want to live that way.
Ellen found innocent and non destructive ways to get pleasure out of life, and when she was angry she did non destructive things as well to vent her feelings. Hurting another person went completely over her head, and frankly his ways peaked her curiosity. People were not simply born nasty; they had to become it. She knew better than to ask him point blank why he was the way he was (she liked her life), but maybe she would figure out the answer to her question just by being around him. The dangers of doing this were well understood: she could get hurt, do something regrettable, or worse end up discovering he had a soft spot and become his best friend. The latter was highly unlikely, but so was the idea of her spending a night with him at a bar altogether. Who knew what the universe had in story for her tonight, and the adventure was far too enticing to pass up. Call it Gryffindor audacity, Ellen just called it entertainment.
She had a reputation of being a bit adventurous at times, but not unruly. When she became head girl her attitude change a lot, and she lost that wild side of her. Many of her housemates would probably be surprised that she hadn't ever had a sip of alcohol, but obviously Rodolphus was. Her adventurous streak wasn't really her. She was quiet, eager to learn, and vigilant. After being around a group of loud people she gave in to peer pressure and started to act like that as well; she wanted to fit in. "Don't remind me." Her voice had a bit of a snap to it, one Rodolphus hopefully was able to read as 'I really don't want to be here with you, but I don't want to leave so stop mentioning it.' If she closed her eyes he could easily be a chivalrous, handsome man she met at the bar, not the maniac Slytherin she was truly with.
The moment she felt the buzz of the alcohol she kind of regretted agreeing to follow his instructions. At the same time, however, there was a thrilling sensation she felt from the whole thing. It was a mix of all the different variables of the night, and for the first time in her life she was excited to act like she had no control of herself. When she heard his laugh she couldn't help but smile. This was the first time she had heard him laugh without malice, without having bullied a young muggleborn. Maybe there was a different side to him that she didn't know; a side that nobody seemed to know about. He surely was getting an exclusive look inside of her. Into a side even she didn't know existed. The excitement as well as the alcohol in her bloodstream were the main reasons why she didn't cringe when their fingers touch. It actually sent a chill up her spine. With that tiny thought she took a long sip of her drink. There was no way she was thinking what she was thinking.
"Oh, I'm sure you are many things, and deep down you probably have some very redeeming qualities" a smile graced her face before she took another sip of her drink. The flirtatious words were surprisingly not unwelcome. He wasn't ugly, and he wasn't unpopular. "I already am. After all I'm sitting here with someone who's incredibly handsome, and practically a king at Hogwarts. The fact you are indulging me at all is actually quite commendable." She pushed a piece of her long brown locks behind her ear.

WIDE AWAKE, MY MISTAKE, SO PREDICTABLEyou were fake i was great nothing personal For the first time in a long time, Rodolphus relaxed. His hunched shoulders loosened, he sat back, straight upwards in his seat, his expression casual and confident rather than uptight and arrogantly aggressive. It was the alcohol making its way into his system and although this was the desired effect, he should really be re-considering his choice of drinking partner. But he was just that step beyond caring now and another slurp of firewhiskey did nothing to remedy that condition. It was a potent drug and one Rod knew to be addicting. He hated that he loved to drink. He hated that in order to fit in with his peers; getting drunk had to be done. And once he’d done it once, he had never looked back. Despite his father being a raging alcoholic. For that reason he hated himself because he didn’t want to turn into that man. His deepest fear was that he was going to. But sitting here drinking with Ellen helped him because he knew that this was something his father most definitely would not do. Maybe that was yet another reason why he stayed.
Not to mention that she really wasn’t bad to look at. Yes, in terms of appearance she was definitely his type and that was why he found himself flirting so freely with her. Pity she was a blood traitor Gryffindor or she would have been another notch on his bedpost by now, of that he was sure. He didn’t reply to her comment, just gave her another one of his satisfied smirks. He knew only too well that she believed him; he just liked to make sure he’d gotten his point across. Scaring her was fun after all. And now she was snapping at him. Good, he liked it, meant she had some fight in her and that was always attractive. Maybe it wasn’t just her looks that appealed to him after all. He quirked an eyebrow, an amused smile playing on his lips. ”Don’t get me wrong, I’m honoured.” He didn’t say it sarcastically which must be some kind of first. A lot of firsts tonight it seemed.
In the presence of alcohol, Rod’s magnificent ability to keep his emotions hidden had almost all but disappeared. Not that he had been too intent on hiding them anyway but it was always safer to have your guard up around a Gryffindor. But this wasn’t an ordinary situation. It was quite easy sitting in this bar to forget that they were actually students at a school who hated each other’s guts. Too easy in fact, to feel like they were adults, intent on having a good time. And of course, after the buzz of the contact, Rod only had one thing on his mind. And so he was very happy to see her flirt back. He watched her drink, the predatory part of him was still there and he knew too well the effect that alcohol had on girls. Was he bothered that she wouldn’t make the choice with a clear head? Of course not, as long as he got his way. Besides, his head wasn’t as clear either. He mimicked her actions, taking another long gulp from his own glass.
At her first comment he simply shrugged because Rod doubted he had a redeeming bone in his body but at her second comment, something just exploded inside of the Slytherin and he was pretty certain it was his ego. He could pretend to shove her words away and act humbled and coy. But that really wasn’t his way and besides, he was a King. He shifted his chair closer to her, shrugging in an off-hand way as he did so. ”Your charming flattery is doing well at keeping me satisfied.” Somehow he managed to make his words imply something else. ”You talk yourself down I’m sure; how could I possibly resist you? And I would very much like to indulge you some more. I hope you’ll allow me to.” He said, leaning towards her, casually resting his arm on the back of her chair, his fingers lightly skimming her shoulders as he did so. Almost halving the amount of space between them in the process. He tried his hardest to keep the hungry expression from his face but he wasn’t sure he was too successful.

As a woman who prided herself on being non-judgmental, she couldn't help but notice the judgment she had made with Rodolphus. It was really odd watching him relax and become someone who wasn't concerned with making every muggleborn at Hogwarts tremble. In a way, it made her re-evaluate her opinion of him. Then again she had to consider the fact that she was really very drunk, and upset about what had happened in her life to begin with. Being confused, like now, was not something Ellen really enjoyed; she liked knowing exactly how she felt, what she felt, and what was going to happen. With Rod it was all mysterious and certainly not straightforward: two things Ellen absolutely hated. For some reason, probably the alcohol, the whole brooding mystery became appealing to her. No, Rodolphs became appealing. There was something about him that she couldn't help but be a bit drawn to. Perhaps it was the fact he was so complex and torchered, or the more logical explanation: the alcohol. Nevertheless she was intrigued.
Everything kind of felt cliche to her. The whole 'good girl turning bad by the resident bad boy,' wasn't really her thing, but it appeared to reside within her very self deep down. Rod had to be thinking the same thing, or something similar to it. After all it wasn't everyday a Slytherin Pureblood decided to spend their time with a Gryffindor idealist. Things like this belonged in a fiction novel...maybe one she would write one day. "The scary thing is you didn't sound like you were joking," Ellen laughed lightly. "You were joking weren't you? I mean I suppose it wouldn't be bad if you were serious." Talking too much was a clear sign that she was nervous, and saying she was just that was an understatement. Walking along the ledge of the castle didn't scare her, and sneaking out after curfew didn't either, but being here, with him, like this really did terrify her. It terrified her but excited her at the same time.
His charming looks didn't play against him. On the outside he looked exactly like the handsome man she wanted to be with, and if they weren't pre-occupied with hating each other during the day, she probably would have thought of it earlier. Yes, he was very handsome, and sometimes a girl couldn't help herself especially when she was in the presence of someone who looked like Rod. As she watched his eyes she could sense the lust behind them. Every part of her screamed for her to leave, but she couldn't resist the temptation to stay and see how this would all turn out. The nervous little Gryffindor was starting to melt away from her and become replaced with something darker. Her eyes flashed with desire as she watched him take down some of the firewhiskey.
A sultry smile played on her lips as he moved his chair closer. For now, Ellen Leyden was gone, and the idea of being something different--someone different made her crazy, so crazy she sat at the edge of her seat just to get closer to him. His aggressive comment sparked something within her. "Am I? I never intended to satisfy you so much, but I think I like it." She flirtatiously placed a hand on his leg and smiled, before slowly moving it away at his next words. Elle didn't even really need to think about her answer, but making him wait for it was thrilling, so she acted like she was deeply pondering what she was going to say. She leaned herself into him and whispered into his ear: "Why don't we get out of here, and then we can see if I truly satisfy you." She could read the hunger he felt, and she was pretty sure she was giving off the same sort of thing.

WIDE AWAKE, MY MISTAKE, SO PREDICTABLEyou were fake i was great nothing personal As far as Rodolphus was concerned, this was a once in a lifetime opportunity. It wasn’t every day you managed to corrupt someone as straight laced as Ellen into getting drunk and by the looks of it, one step away from falling into his bed. Of course, she wasn’t a conquest he was likely to brag about afterwards and he was quite certain that she wouldn’t be telling a soul either but to know that it had happened would be enough for him. She was just another box to tick. And it would be a very satisfying feeling to do that. The Rod that should be hating over her mixed blood status and allegiance to the “good side” had vanished because that Rod, as tempting as the idea of completely corrupting the Head Girl sounded, would never think about sleeping with her. Getting her drunk maybe, but do the deed? Merlin No. But Rod was very drunk and his ideals were disappearing.
And he loved the effect he was having on her. It never got old charming women. He did actually enjoy this part; the flirtatious banter back and forth. Of course it wasn’t always like that. Sometimes he’d pick the girl who broke down into tears when she drunk and he’d have to sit there and listen to her whinge about her bitchy best friend or possessive ex and so when someone like Ellen came along, every second was worth it. And Rod had thought, when he had first seen her in the bar, that she would be like those girls that sat and moaned and cried and poured their heart out and he would have told her straight up that he didn’t care because until now, he hadn’t put her down as someone bothering about.
He smiled at her, flashing his best, handsome, I know how to flatter, smouldering crooked smile. It faltered only when she placed her hand on his leg; his lips parting slightly at the contact and he tried not to look too disappointed as she took her hand away. Such a tease. But he knew how to play this game and the look on his face told her so. Automatically, Rod pushed his chest upwards as she leaned into him, closing the space between them. His breathing quickened and he licked his lips, revelling in her being so close to him. Desire lanced through him at her words, his teeth biting into his bottom lip. He had a one track mind now, his mind thinking of one thing and one thing only and he was going to get it – her words had seen to that. ”You know exactly what to say, don’t you?” There was a heady look in his eye as he replied, smoothly running his hand down the side of her body, from her shoulder to her waist.
Yes it was a bold move but what was the point in hanging around now that he had basically gotten her to admit that she wanted him. He wanted to check just how much of an effect his touch had on her. His eyes darted to her lips. ”I do hope you’re not leading me on Miss. Leyden, I’ll be very disappointed if you are.” His game was usually to leave them hanging but he was impatient and impulsive today and so he pressed his lips to hers, letting go of her waist just before he did so, so that it was just his lips for no more than a few seconds. He let go, careful to keep his face as close to hers without touching as possible; always leave them wanting more. He searched her eyes for a reaction. ”You ready?” He asked, once again managing to lace his words with more than one meaning.

Everything she was doing was uncharacteristic of her, and in the back of her mind she knew she was going to regret everything; she did not care. Every part of her desperately wanted him; she had never wanted another person so much. Her morals didn't matter to her now; the only thing that did was him, only him. In a way the fact she wanted him so much made her sick to the stomach. After all, here she was the girl who believed in chivalry and falling in love with the right man desperately wanting the person she hated the most, at a bar...drunk. No one was going to believe her story; hell no one was going to find out about tonight. Even though she was very drunk she understood that very clearly, and she was pretty positive Rodolphus was thinking the same thing. Tonight would be an experiment: nothing more.
And yet, she couldn't ignore the fact she had seen little snippets of a torchered human being. He wasn't wholly bad, and that bothered her to no end. Ellen was a firm believer in giving people chances, and the man who had pushed her into the Black Lake had shown her he deserved a chance. Perhaps if he had been born into a family who actually loved him, or sorted into a different house, he'd be a perfectly decent person. How could she have forgotten the first lesson her mother had taught her? The lesson that dictated a lot of a person's personality had to do with uncontrollable elements in their lives, such as, environment. That simple thought made her heart ache for him so much.
Ellen didn't necessarily pride herself on being a tease; she was more straightforward and romantic, but this certainly was not a romantic situation. In an unusual way she kind enjoyed tapping into a different side of herself, and she was thoroughly excited to see what the great Rodolphus Lestrange was like. As the distance between them started to close she couldn't help herself from placing a seductive smile on her face, eyes flashing with lust. There was nothing she wanted more right now than him, and when he touched her she couldn't help but shiver with anticipation. "And you know exactly how to handle a woman." There were no second thoughts, none at all.
His commentary was very intriguing. "Why? Do girls often lead you on?" She asked with a raised brow, her voice sultry. The fact he was so impatient that it showed turned her on. It made her feel empowered that she held the only thing he wanted in her control, and that she could simply walk away leaving him dissatisfied. If she wasn't so drunk she probably would have done just that, but she was in no condition to make such an audacious move. No, she wanted him just as much as he wanted her, and his kiss verified that. His close proximity was driving her nuts, tugging at the fact she wanted him. "Oh yes," she said, ready to succumb to him completely.

WIDE AWAKE, MY MISTAKE, SO PREDICTABLEyou were fake i was great nothing personal Rod was fully aware of the reason why he was doing this; a need to escape the normal social boundaries coupled with too much alcohol. But he couldn’t quite wrap his head around the reason as to why Ellen was so keen. He hadn’t exactly laid the charm on thick. In fact he hadn’t had to do an awful lot in that department. He had made the first move but she had responded more than unequivocally. The presence of firewhiskey was obviously a huge contributing factor to both parties but there must be some other reason because even under the influence, if you so badly didn’t want to do something, then you wouldn’t. Various stories flitted through his head, the next one more unlikely than the previous and although some of his thoughts were rather worrying (recording him and showing the world or what if she actually liked him?) his brain wasn’t exactly in a condition to be able to focus on one thought for very long and it was all too easy to forget about them all completely and simply concentrate on the scene at hand.
Besides, he was Rodolphus Lestrange, everyone wanted a piece of him whether they liked to admit it or not. He was handsome and powerful and he did also have that mysterious air to him and although a lot of women tried to deny it, confidence bordering on arrogance was a turn on. And bagging himself Ellen was proof of all of that, surely? Not that he’d be able to use it as an example, but he’d know in his own mind and that was enough. She was acting differently, that was for sure. This was not what she did on nights out. In fact, Rod would be surprised if she even went on nights out. He however, apart from his choice of associate, was exactly the same. This was him, even intoxicated he was hiding, though saying that, he had revealed a lot more of his true self to her than he ever had done before.
But that didn’t matter now because that stage was over. He drank in the sultry look on her face; let her words echo in his head, causing his body to shudder with anticipation and his ego to explode once more. With the lascivious look in his eyes, he searched her face, not looking for anything, just taking it all in and causing his mind to fill with thoughts that would make a sailor blush. He gave her words a smile that revealed nothing. Sometimes he did get led on but he wasn’t keen on admitting that. ”I simply hope that you’re not going anywhere. Except with me.” But then she said that one word and that flash of desire lanced through his body again and it made him take full control of the situation. Auto-pilot kicked in; Rod had done this more times than he could remember and he had a routine. It worked, so he stuck with it. If it isn’t broke you shouldn’t try and fix it.
He took her hand, stood up, tugging her gently to her feet as he did so himself, moving his body so that they were pressed up against each other. The anticipation was almost overwhelming, strangely, Rod could not remember wanting to do this more, which, considering his company really was odd. He allowed his other hand to comb through her hair as he said in a husky tone, ”Let’s go then.” He dropped some money on the counter and proceeded to pull her, almost forcefully through a side door and up a flight of stairs, a heady carnal look in his eyes. Right now, this was exactly what he wanted, what he needed even whether he would feel the same way after though was another question.
