one more day down these stairs, his room is cold now and it hurts like hell. he holds tight, he stares. it’s almost over and it’s running through his head. they don’t know me, they don’t know more than i show.
-------------------- Oh, hell. Oh, dear. Oh, no! Lita hadn't forgotten about her little get together with Severus this evening - no, no, far beyond that. Lita had been mulling it over in her mind every second of the night last night, and every second of the day today. When classes had been let out for the day, Lita had flung herself back to her room, rummaging through her wardrobe to find the perfect outfit. By the end of it, it looked as if her room at exploded, and now? Lita couldn't have cared less. Normally she was a very cleanly person, but it all went out the window now at the thought of just looking good for Severus. Not that he'd... notice, or anything. Glancing at herself in the full length mirror hidden in the corner of her room, Lita tucked her hair up in a loose bun, pulling at strands of hair, tucking various locks... okay, smooth out that clingy moss green shirt, and brush off that black skirt; perfect.
Alright, so this particular potion wasn't difficult... I mean, it was difficult, but it was one of the simpler potions they'd had all year, and Lita nearly cursed herself for making up that she wasn't any good. Just to get tutoring lessons from the guy she loved? ... Sure. Lita was sure she was gonna be rolling her eyes a bunch during this lesson, with thoughts of "I know how to do that...", however if she was to keep up this charade and gt closer to Severus... this seemed to be the only way. Do something that he liked to do. Bond that way. ... Right? Sighing as she gathered up her books, the youth made her way through the Slytherin common room, avoiding eye contact with those who stared at her wide-eyed; why was she so dressed up? Where was she going? Who was she going with? The whispers and hushed rumors made Lita smirk, however she continued on her way, past all the on-lookers, and down towards the dungeons.
Ah, the dungeons.
It was the greatest place he could have picked. Privacy beyond all belief. Booted feet clicked on the floor as she made her way to a back room he had suggested, and Lita couldn't help but shiver in anticipation. Setting her book bag down, Lita leaned up against one of the older counters, pushing herself up so she could perch herself lightly on the edge - legs swinging under her cutely. Leaning back on her palms, Lita found herself daydreaming, head tilted and sky blue's gazing dully at the far wall... until the sound of foot steps caught her off guard, and she whipped her head towards the door. Smiling brightly at the sight of Severus, Lita hopped off the counter quickly, blue's trained on him and trailing all over his figure as if she hadn't ever seen his marvelous frame before. Drinking him in, Lita took a small step forward, swallowing hard and offering an awkward little wave. "Hey! How ya doin'?"
Great, Lita. Look like an ass, why not.

Severus might have been more nervous, if the young boy was aware that he had asked Lita out on something that could be considered a date. But he hadn’t been thinking that way at all- he was sure they were just going to meet up and he was going to help her on a potion. However, he did find himself thinking about that periodically throughout the day. She had never struck him as someone who had trouble in potions- she seemed up there as one of the better students, in fact. So he had to wonder what was really going on. If she wanted to set him up for something, or if there was something else going on he just didn’t know about. His socially retarded male mind, however, never clued him into the fact that she might have wanted to spend time with him, and it had seemed asking for help on a potion was the best way to go about it. She certainly knew what he liked to do, though he wasn’t very keen on teaching people most of the time. He hated the idea of having to get someone else to pay attention to him, even if it was exactly what he wanted. It wasn’t the same as commanding respect- being a professor probably sucked big time.
When the classes finally let out for the day, Severus wondered if he should change for their meeting. However, he decided it wasn’t that big of a deal and went to meet with her in his school threads. She wouldn’t mind, would she? It wasn’t like he had much else to wear, anyway. A sense of fashion was not something he had been blessed with, making it difficult for him to know what he was supposed to wear and when. Aside from school robes and his pajamas, he was pretty much lost.
Too bad he didn’t like his body enough to be a nudist.
He might have been on time, too, had he not gotten into a verbal confrontation with some Gryffindors along the way. They had been overly loud about their comments against him, sparking his rage and causing him to storm over to engage them. Thankfully, they weren’t the kind of leap into dueling, and their little fight had been nothing more than heated words between the lot of them. The whole thing ended when a professor appeared to shoo the loud group off, warning them that they would all lose house points if they continued to fight. Since Severus had already lost his house more house points than he really would have liked to admit, he decided it was probably best to slip off without causing any more of a fuss. It annoyed him to listen to a teacher, but sometimes the needs of his house was greater than his own desires. If he lost more house points, no one would be very impressed with him.
By the time he got to the dungeons, he wasn’t in a very good mood. The only thing that seemed to lift his spirits was the sight of Lita, who was looking very nice as she brought her attention onto him. Oh great, he should have changed- now he felt like he was the idiot who didn’t know when to dress up right.
“Hi,” he offered awkwardly, “you look nice. I hope we don’t get any of our potion ingredients on that.” Or did he? Clearing his throat, he ventured into the room, setting his book bag on the work space they would be occupying.
“If you don’t have anything to do first, I suppose we could get started right away. If you want, I can show you my way of making this potion. It would make it easier, and produce a better result than what’s in the book. I think that should earn you some bonus points with Slughorn,” he chuckled lightly.
Why was he suddenly nervous?

one more day down these stairs, his room is cold now and it hurts like hell. he holds tight, he stares. it’s almost over and it’s running through his head. they don’t know me, they don’t know more than i show.
-------------------- Seeing Severus in his school uniform, Lita suddenly felt very self aware. Had she dressed too fancy for this? Had she tried to hard to make an impression? Rubbing the back of her neck shyly, the blonde played with the tips of her hair, a nervous huffing chuckle and a pinkish blush fanning her cheeks bashfully as he spoke up. Severus' tone was awkward... but she had always known him to be a little awkward or... off. His compliment hadn't gone un-noticed, and the youth only blushed a deeper rose; her stance slouching slightly and her hands flitting about as if she didn't know what to do with them. Fidgeting was something done whenever she was nervous or in an awkward situation. This just happened to be very nerve racking!
"These old things?" Lita waved a hand dismissively, smirking and offering a quiet laugh. "I just threw on clothes when I got out of class." Shrug. "I don't mind if I get anything on them." Untrue... Lita was actually a little nervous about it, but in the presence of Severus Snape? Not a damn was given. She could have gotten covered in bat blood, and it wouldn't have mattered... so long as she was standing next to Severus. When he moved, finally, and set his book bag down, bright blue eyes watched him intently.
The way he moved, the way he walked, the way he talked... the way he acted, and the way his eyes narrowed and focused on his work. The way he smelled... augh, this was all too amazing. He was all too amazing!
Lita found herself zoning out, watching him, as he began speaking again, and it took a moment for her to register what he was saying. Shaking her head lightly, a brilliant smile took her features, and she offered a gentle roll of her shoulders in a shrug. "I'm ready now. We can start right away." Enter big stupid grin here. When he began explaining he would show her his own way of making said potion, the girl had to force herself not to roll her eyes. She knew how to make this potion... however, if it would give her bonus points... (not that she needed them, mind you). "Sure!" Moving to stand next to him quietly, she watched him curiously, his chuckle still sending warm shivers along her spine.
Oh, he was just so beautiful.

Severus found himself decidedly awkward. Consistent with how he had felt coming in, but still a mysterious situation for him to be in. Maybe it was just because she was close to him, something he had known would happen all alone. Being close to other people, male or female, had the ability to create a lot of tension in his mind. It felt like he was going to explode, his nerves had leaped up so suddenly inside of him. This seemed a little excessive, even for him. So what was making him so uneasy?
EH, best not to worry about it.
He offered the girl a smile, still wondering if he really needed to be there, and started to gather the ingredients they would need. He needed to make sure he didn’t mess the potion up- the last thing he needed to do was make himself look like a complete idiot in front of someone he was going to have to see every day. What with him being horrible at socializing, it was entirely possible that he would say something wrong, or slip the wrong ingredient in his over-eager attempt to impress someone. What he needed to do was be careful, which was an exceedingly difficult task for someone like him. Difficult, but not impossible. Sighing softly to himself, mostly to calm his raging nerves, he began to order the ingredients, explaining the differences in how he did things, compared to what was written in the book. They were subtle, but they made all the difference in the world. Severus Snape was someone who could tell when a potion wasn’t being made as well as it might have been. His talent in the area was unrivaled, no matter what other people seemed to think.
But it wasn’t like he was smug about it or anything.
“I hope you don’t mind doing things this way,” he said after a moment, having finished cutting some of the ingredients for the potion. He had been letting her do most of the work, sure, but he had wanted to show her his special cutting technique for the roots they would be using. He knew, of course, that for her to learn anything, she would have to be the one to make the potion, but he couldn’t keep his hands completely out of things. Maybe it was a bit of a fault that came with his talent- he had to make sure things were perfect.
“Just let me know if you’d rather go from the book…” why was he being self conscious? He knew the potion was better this way, so why was he worried about her not wanting to use his method? It felt like he didn’t want to upset her.
Which was not something he usually considered with company.

one more day down these stairs, his room is cold now and it hurts like hell. he holds tight, he stares. it’s almost over and it’s running through his head. they don’t know me, they don’t know more than i show.
-------------------- Sky blue's watched him closely as he smiled at her, then continued on his way - collecting items for the potion. Lita did what she could, but the determined and authoritive air he threw - whether he knew it or not - had her stepping back happily and allowing herself to just... y'know, watch. He did step aside as he explained; pointing, motioning, adding and subtracting different ingredients. Slicing. Dicing. Of course, he simply showed her, and then allowed her to finish it herself. However... Lita was just as happy stepping back and allowing Severus to take over. His way was... curiously amazing. It was an understatement to say Severus Snape knew what he was doing.
He was amazing.
After he chopped a few more roots for the potion, Lita stepped in a little closer to the tone of his voice, a small smile playing on her lips as she gazed up at his face before directing her attention to the cauldron. "No, no. Not at all." Reasurring smile, and when he grew a little quiet, the tall blonde shook her head, leaning against the counter lazily and smiling up at him brightly. "No, your way is spectacular. I've never seen it done this way, nor have I ever tried easier and more effective ways to make things." A small roll of her shoulders was offered, before she smiled sweetly. A tiny bit of shuffling had her leaning against him gently, then stepping aside and busying herself with cutting some more roots, just the way he showed her before.
"So, tell me." Lita finally offered quietly, a pinkish blush permenantly staining her cheeks. "How'd you figure out all this stuff? Just... lots of experimenting?" It was a legit and curious question. Lita was always that curious little kitten growing up, and now that she was older, she'd get herself into bounds of trouble just to figure things out. She made many an enemy back home by prying her nose into things it didn't belong. Running a hand through her hair, she finally took a small glance at the textbook, running her index finger along the page and breathlessly whispering the instructions to herself - something of a quirk of hers. She often got strange looks in class, as her whispers were basically mimed... but in the presence of Severus Snape, she found herself actually allowing some voice to escape. "Okay, can I add it all now? Book says so, but is there anything else you would do first?"
Yes, stroke his ego. Good. Good.

“I’m not surprised you haven’t seen it done this way,” he chuckled lightly when Lita commented on the way he was making his potion. It wasn’t likely anyone else even knew how to make the potion in such a way- he had made it up himself. The potion in the book, this one in particular, had been very… flawed. Just reading it had shown him all the various ways they had messed up while putting it down on text. It had been somewhat easy to alter the potion- enhance the effects of it by changing up the way the ingredients were prepared. So few seemed to realize just how important preparation was when it came to making potions. Didn’t they know that they couldn’t just run around and do whatever they wanted, hoping for the best? It took precision and timing to make the best of something. Maybe the people who had written the book simply lacked the patience to find the best method. They had just gone with the one that first created a successful brew. Annoying. And apparently not something Severus could stand by and allow.
It was kind of fun, he had to admit, to alter and improve on potions. It made it feel like he could do something no one else in the school could do- like he was finally special. Though potion making wasn’t going to win him any popularity points, at least it was something he could truly claim he was talented in. And, anyway, at least one lady seemed to like what he was throwing down. As he continued to show her what to do, he smiled, only slightly pleased with the compliments.
Only slightly.
“Yeah,” he offered in response to her question, “it was a lot of experimenting, at least for some of it. Sometimes you can just look at a potion and know there are better ways of making it. After you get familiar enough with the various ways ingredients can be prepped, you can immediately tell when one isn’t being used as effectively as it could be. I guess you don’t get to thinking like that without practicing way more than you ought to, though,” he chuckled mildly, rubbing the back of his neck as he mused about his skill. Maybe it was more creepy than impressive, sitting in a dungeon all day mulling over potions and trying to make them work better. To what end? It wasn’t like anyone knew what he did, really, and the potions in the books would never change just because he knew a better way to do them. It wasn’t something that was going to make him famous, or respected.
“I don’t really know why I like doing it so much,” he added thoughtfully, “I guess it doesn’t make that much difference, in the full spectrum of things, but I do get good grades for it, and I like the perplexed look on Slughorn’s face whenever he grades my potions. It’s always funny to me when he clearly doesn’t know how I’ve made a potion so quickly, or so effectively.” The highlight of his day, really.
“No, you can add everything now,” he said with a nod, “go right ahead. I think I probably did more of it than I should have… sorry… I’m not very good at teaching people.” But he still didn’t think she needed the help- she hadn’t stopped him or asked questions about what he was doing once. Not in a way that suggested she was confused, only curious. So what the hell was really going on?
Oh well, he liked being there. With her.

one more day down these stairs, his room is cold now and it hurts like hell. he holds tight, he stares. it’s almost over and it’s running through his head. they don’t know me, they don’t know more than i show.
-------------------- His chuckling was just Heavenly. Tilting her head ever so slightly, Lita smiled brightly up at him, smoothing down her shirt as she leaned against the counter. Always trying to make an impression, even when he wasn't looking remotely her direction. "Well, I like it." she admitted, nodding once in her own confirmation. "It's much easier then this silly book. What's this rubbish, anyway?" The youth reached out to grab at the text book, hesitating a moment before shutting it with a loud "thud". She knew the potion off by heart already... the book was only really open for show. But now that she was actually learning something knew, she wanted to keep her attention on Severus and his teaching.
Listening to him speak could have just lulled her into a euphoric calm. The growling undertones and the way he articulated certain words always had her on the edge of her seat. The rubbing at the back of his neck made Lita want to reach out and touch him too... but c'mon, this was technically the second time they'd ever been in each others presence - they Severus recognized, anyway - so she couldn't go making an idiot of herself now. Shaking herself out of her trance, Lita smiled bashfully, nodding enthusiastically and offering her own gentle giggle. "It's brilliant."
When he added his own thoughts, the girl turned herself to lean against the counter, smiling to herself and crossing her arms under her breasts in order to keep her hands to herself. A melodic laugh spilled from her before she could stop it, and the blonde ran a hand through her loose locks. "Everyone has their hobbies. I happen to like doing my own thing in Care of Magical Creatures... the professor assumes I'll get myself killed, but they just don't understand how to truly win over a wild beast." Not... exactly something she's ever told someone before now, but it was true. She was in love with magical creatures, and she'd do anything to make nice with them whenever possible. Sure, she'd been kicked and swatted at by some dangerous critters out there... and she wasn't stupid enough to go after big scary critters, but that was the risk of making anything better.
She assumed Severus had effed up on his fair share of potions too.
When he said she could add everything now, she nodded, turning herself to grab at things cautiously and add them in a specific order carefully. "Maybe Slughorn will like me better now." Lita offered with a giggly-snort - although, Slughorn tended to like her enough already. She was up there in the best of the class... she just didn't pull attention to it like others did. Staying quiet was the one thing she was good at! When he apologized, the blonde swatted out at the air playfully, rolling her shoulders in a shrug. "No need to apologize, I like watching you work. I learn by watching, not doing, most of the time anyway." Small smirk. "You're doing a splendid job. I haven't had to stop you and ask any questions yet at all." Y'know, other than her adding the ingredients.. Aheh.

Severus arched an eyebrow. “You like Care of Magical Creatures? Well, that’s not bad- I really hate that subject myself. Not because I don’t like animals or anything, they just… don’t like me. I mean, really,” he nodded, his expression serious, “I think all animals met at some point in time and conspired against me- they all seem to want to take some portion of my flesh as a trophy.” About the only kind of animal that didn’t want his head on a plate were cats. He liked cats- they were smart and self-sufficient, and didn’t treat him any differently than anyone else. Cats didn’t seem to like people in general, so he was actually on the same page as everyone else. Plus, not that he would admit it out loud, they were cute. They had fluffy little faces and he liked the sounds they made when they were happy.
If he could get a pet without anyone giving him hell for it, he would get a cat.
“Perhaps that’s how we can help one another. You can help me get animals to like me, and I can help you with potions,” he chuckled at that, watching Lita a moment before looking back at the potion, “or whatever subject it is you really need help with. As far as I can see, you don’t need any help with this sort of thing.” Though that still raised the question of why she would go all the way down to the dungeons to meet him if she didn’t really need the help. He hadn’t seen any indication that she actually didn’t know what she was doing, so he was just left to wonder what was really going on.
However, his suspicions that something bad was going to happen had faded away- he was enjoying his time with her. If there was a reason behind whatever the hell was going on, then he didn’t have to assume it was a bad one.
Maybe it would surprise him.
He let her finish up the potion, watching her. “You know, if there’s something you want from me, you don’t have to butter me up by asking me to work on a potion,” he said faintly, “I’m used to people wanting things from me, so you can just ask.” He couldn’t think of any other reason for the strange behavior. She didn’t seem to want to pull a prank on him, or set him up for some kind of a fall. In fact, it didn’t seem like she was interested in pulling any kind of malicious thing at all. So maybe she was trying to get on his good side, rather than his bad. Maybe she wanted him to make her a special kind of potion, or wanted him to do something else for her. It wouldn’t be the first time a Slytherin tried to butter him up to get him to do something for them. Naturally, he was aware of their actions the whole time, but he still usually did what they wanted. It was all about building bridges, even if they were over shallow waters.
So what did she want, and what was it going to cost him to do it for her? For some reason, he was more interested in helping her than normal.

one more day down these stairs, his room is cold now and it hurts like hell. he holds tight, he stares. it’s almost over and it’s running through his head. they don’t know me, they don’t know more than i show.
-------------------- Chuckling softly, Lita nodded, taking her bottom lip between her teeth to chew on as she finished adding the ingredients to the potion. A small tilt of her head was offered, and she rolled her shoulders in a light shrug, pulling on her blonde locks gentle as she contemplated the potion - stirring it flawlessly, sky blue's blinked up at Severus with a small smirk playing on her lips. "I love Care of Magical Creatures." Lita had to hold back a small laugh as his expression grew ever serious. Her cheeks pinkened at the force behind her held laughter, and she turned her face away with widened eyes. "I'm sure not all animals dislike you. It's technically not even a dislike." Uhoh, here comes Lecture Lita. She may as well become a CoMC Professor when she's older at this rate.
Her attention was on the stirring and adjusting heat on the potion as she spoke, eyes trained on her every movement.
"Are you afriad of them? Maybe, scared that they really do wanna tear a chunk of flesh from you? If you're nervous around any creature, they'll smell it and feel it, and in turn become very nervous and flighty themselves." Rubbing under her nose, the girl crossed her arms under her breasts, raising a brow and turning herself so she could smile up at the taller boy. "The fight or flight instinct in most of the creatures we see in class are up to the predatorial 'fight'. They smell fear and nervousness, then they will become fearful, nervous, and will result in a good swipe or two with claws, or snips and snaps with jaws." Blue eyes sparkled, and the girl offered a casual shrug once more. "If you stay in control of your emotions, feel confident and secure with yourself and your surroundings, then it's easy to win over the trust of any creature. Respect them," she smiled. "and they will respect you."
There was a moment of silence, and Lita ran a hand through her hair with a forced huff of a laugh. "Sorry, I'm babbling..." Clearing her throat, the youth turned back to the potion, smiling at it's clearing hue, and she finally reached over - without being told - to turn the heat down to a simmer. Another gentle cough, and she nodded with a wide and silly smirk. "That sounds like a fair trade. I--" Okay, so he had caught her... she was just fine with potions, but there was one class that really irked her and frustrated her. "Spells." she finally sighed, rolling her bright blues. "I am disgustingly horrifying at spells. If I can help it, I don't cast them at all. I'm just... I don't know what it is, but I can never do them well." Rubbing the back of her neck, the girl blushed deeply - yea, a witch that couldn't cast spells well, even in her sixth year. That was something to be embarrassed about.
When he spoke again, she thanked every God out there for the subject being changed, at least for the moment. "Hmn?" Eye's flicked back to train on the boy beside her, a small and almost nervous smile on her features. "I don't want anything from you." Except maybe a kiss, or something equally as amazing. She smiled, a gentle laugh escaping her slim frame as she blushed at her inner monologue. "Is it so hard to believe I just wanted your company for a night?" They still hadn't classified this particular meeting as a date... more like a tutoring session - however, now that Severus was aware of her not needing help with potions... would this be considered a date? Just friends hanging out? What? Her blush only reddened, and she turned herself away from him with a nervous smile.
"I tell ya what. Next time we get together like this, it'll be my turn to teach." Small smile. "We'll go find ourselves a critter, and I'll show you how to deal with them, okay?" Change the subject again, do it Lita. Doo ittt.
