one more day down these stairs, his room is cold now and it hurts like hell. he holds tight, he stares. it’s almost over and it’s running through his head. they don’t know me, they don’t know more than i show.
-------------------- Lita had pretty much gone mute by the time they reached the last legs of the thinning forest - y'know, other than her little outburst about Severus not being her boyfriend. When he had collapsed, groaning her name in pain and gripping her shoulder, Lita had toppled over on top of him. Thank Heavens she was thin and light - she had quite literally landed on top of him. In any other situation, she would have been blushing and blubbering like an idiot... however, she immediately knew something was wrong, and he was out like a light. Genis' words hadn't gone unheard - although spells were not her specialty, she had managed to conjure up a stretcher, and when they hit the hospital wing... things kinda just exploded in a flurry. She and Genis were seated away from Severus, no matter how snarky and angry Lita reacted and had wanted to be with him, and they were both checked over and treated for their cuts and scrapes before the nurses rushed off to help Severus.
Sky blue's rolled dramatically as Genis kept speaking, and the girl pinched the bridge of her nose, gritting her teeth. "We are just friends. And I do not have a crush on him. He's... my best friend." And for as short a time as they had really known each other, it was true. Severus was Lita's first friend. And best friend. Gaining your first true friend in your sixth year of school, yeah... that's healthy. When Genis continued speaking, Lita threw herself from her chair, stalking and prowling the waiting area like a caged Tiger. Muttering to herself quietly, the blonde finally nodded gently, pausing in her steps. "We tell them the truth. We are heros, afterall. Had we not gone down there, he could have been attacked more in the time that we would have found a professor." Small roll of her shoulders, and Lita turned towards the door; she found herself feeling rather claustrophobic.
"I'm going for a walk. I'll be back soon."
And she was. A few hours later. She had meandered around the halls, around the castle grounds... and then made her way to Hogsmeade. Now... something to make Severus feel better, something to make him feel better... After having gone through many a shop, Lita found herself just buying a bunch of chocolate bars. Nobody could say no to chocolate right? Making her way back to the hospital wing, the blonde tossed a chocolate bar at Genis, offering a tiny and weak smile, before shoving past a nurse and further into the wing. There was Severus Snape. His inky hair was sticking to his forehead and tossed over his pillow... and although he was naturally skinny and kinad gangly before, he looked completely tiny in that bit fluffy white bed. A tiny whine escaped the slender girl, and she glared at a nurse next to his bed. He would be fine, she said, and then hurried away from his side.
Shuffling awkwardly, Lita glanced over her shoulder at Genis, sighing and then lifting her legs one after another (of course, after kicking off her shoes), and crawling onto Severus' bed to sit next to him. There wasn't a whole lot of room, but there was enough... and she wanted to be as close as possible. Leaning forward, the girl swiped from hair from his face, offering a gentle smile down on him, even though he appeared to still be sleeping. When he didn't twitch or move away from her hand, she ran her finger tips along his cheek bone, and then trailed her fingers along his cheek and jaw. How could anybody so beautiful be the butt end of every single joke and prank in the school? He was magnificent! So sculpted and rugged, and... a small sigh of admiration escaped her before she remembered Genis was around.
Damn.
Leaning back away from him, she made herself comfortable on the bed, sitting on her heels and reaching into her book bag to pull out a couple bars of chocolate. Unwrapping one for herself, Lita simply sighed again, bringing the bar up to her lips and snapping a piece off with her teeth. Ahh, this had to be the best chocolate in the world! Well... all chocolate was to a girl, she supposed. "Hope he wakes up soon." she mumbled gently... whether or not he had been awake already was beyond her. She was far too concerned with how he was fairing to be of any notice to his consciousness levels.

Severus hadn’t been aware of the rest of the trip, pretty much out like a light as they got him to the hospital wing. He was equally out cold when the nurse took him to be examined, tending to him like the mother she was sometimes. He spent so much time there, it was a wonder they weren’t on better terms. It was just difficult to get past the fact that she always saw him when he was at his most humiliated. That alone was enough to make her someone he didn’t really like, which was completely unfair. Too bad he wasn’t the type to consider ‘fair’ with feelings. At that point, though, he wasn’t feeling much about her one way or the other, considering he wasn’t awake enough to know he was even in the hospital wing to begin with. He was far too busy having a nice dream about living in a nice little house with his lovely wife and their couple of kids. How lovely. Of course, it was a little different from the usual ‘not in your life’ kind of dream. Normally, he saw Lily there with him, holding one of the kids and giving him a kiss on the cheek. This time, however, he couldn’t tell who the woman was there with him. It didn’t seem like she had red hair…
He woke to prickling pain in his wrist and chest, the bones starting the process of stitching back together with the spells from the nurse. She smiled at him faintly, assuring him that he was alright so he didn’t freak out in his unknown setting. But he didn’t freak out. Even though he hadn’t been fully aware of where he was, or what was going on, his dream kept him fairly sedate. Soon enough, the information leaked back into his brain, anyway. Hospital wing. Right. Because he had fallen down a hill and had wounded himself. That boy and Lita had brought him there, though he didn’t know where they had gone or if they had abandoned him, the nurse fussing over him always blocking his view.
She informed him that he was going to need to rest for a couple of days, but that he would be as good as new in no time. The injuries, while more serious than what she was used to seeing from students, were not life-threatening, and were fairly quick to fix with some spells and potions. Thank God magic made broken bones as problematic as paper cuts- he would have hated being stuck in the hospital wing for weeks like he would have in a muggle infirmary. Yes, it was much better being hurt at school than hurt at home.
The alternative of not being hurt at all didn’t seem to come to mind.
Getting back to work, the nurse gave Severus another potion, the boy drifting back out of consciousness again for an hour or so as she finished up her work on his broken ribs. They would need time to fully mend, but she wanted to make sure most of the pain was out of the way, as well as ensure there wasn’t any serious internal damage. When she saw it was all clear, she finally allowed the others to sit with Severus, though not before telling them to be careful. She wasn’t too concerned, and even kept quiet when she saw Lita climb into the bed next to Severus. As long as she didn’t try jumping on top of the boy, it was fine.
Severus wasn’t fully asleep when he felt something shift beside him, the boy keeping his eyes closed in an attempt to ignore it and get some sleep. However, the thing beside him touched his face, and the smell of chocolate made sleep an impossibility. When it spoke, and he realized it was Lita beside him, he opened his eyes, turning his head slightly towards her. “I am awake,” he muttered lowly, still a little disoriented from all the fun of the day. Never again would he try to out-run Gryffindors in the forest. Clearly that had been the wrong call on his part.
“Are you alright?” He asked after a moment, since he wasn’t really sure what had happened after he had passed out. The last thing he remembered was taking her down with him when he passed out. Hopefully he hadn’t hurt her by doing so. With all her attempts to help him, flattening her did not seem an adequate way to repay her.

"H....Heroes?" Genis muttered and then shook his head, "No we're not." at least, he didn't think they were. As he sat there, he wanted to get up go but Madam Pomfrey wouldn't have it. Instead, he drew his wand. "Accio Journal!" And a pale blue and silver book flew into his hands. He then borrowed a quill and ink from the healer and muttered an incantation, making the book able to be opened.
As he leafed through it, to anyone else but him, thanks to a spell, it appeared as if it was all written in Japanese. But to him, since he was the original caster, it was in English. As he wrote, he made sure not to look around too much. "Okay. See you later." He said without looking up. He was recording what had just happened in the forest, trying to sort out his thoughts and feelings about it all, he had been scared of course, who wouldn't be? But he hadn't panicked, he'd done what he'd had to do and he was proud of himself for it! He wasn't so sure he was any sort of hero like Lita had said, but it was a nice idea.
He passed the time writing in the journal, and then Lita returned with chocolate and to his surprise, she sat next to Severus after kicking off his shoes. He stopped writing to watch Lita with Severus, she was stroking him and gazing at him with such adoration and awe, that it was impossible that they were only friends. She didn't just have a school girl crush on him. She must have loved him.
As Lita looked over at him, Genis shrugged and went back to his book, as if he hadn't seen anything. But he had. "He probably will pretty soon." He said softly, "Once his body recovers enough he'll wake up." and sure enough, Severus spoke up. "See?" he told her quietly, and then slid of the bed, shutting his book and putting the incantation back on it to prevent anyone but himself from opening it.
"I don't like it in here." He said quietly, "I'm going to my Common Room." and he headed for the door, lifting his hand in farewell. "Bye you two. See you around some other time!" And off he went, giving Lita and Severus time alone, for he was certain that's what they wanted. Plus, he really didn't like the Hospital Wing much at all.

-------------------- Glancing back at Genis, the blonde was about to ask what he was writing, when the voice of Severus caught her unaware. His muttering was low, to the point where she needed to lean forward a bit... but the initial thought in her mind at that particular moment.. was he had been awake the whole time she was stroking his hair and face. Oh, God, why. Not really knowing what to do, Lita simply blushed a deep crimson, turning her face away to cough into her shoulder awkwardly. "Oh. Well, good. Good that you're awake." Awkwaaaarrrddd. Sky blue's turned to Genis again when he spoke, and she offered a small sigh and forced laugh.
When the boy mentioned he was going to head off, Lita just tilted her head slightly, allowing her legs to shuffle from under her so she could seat herself cross-legged on Severus' bed. Oh. Sure. Leave her alone in a room full of empty beds with the guy that made her blood boil and seriously made her re-think her whole; "no sex until the right one comes along" thing she had going. Not that she'd jump Snape's bones while they were healing. That just wasn't fair. ... Okay, not to say she'd jump his bones anyway. Not with the nurses around. ... Wait, what? Blushing even deeper at her inner monologue, Lita offered a short wave of her free hand, smiling lightly and nodding. "Genis?" she yipped before he fully left. "Thank you. For everything."
And she truly meant it.
Watching the boy leave, Lita turned her attention back to Severus intently. Sky blue's ran the length of his exposed torso - exposed as in, y'know... out of the blankets, not shirtless... to Lita's disappointment - before gazing at his bandaged injuries. He'd be okay. Soon. But that didn't mean it didn't hurt like a mother fu-- hmmn? Oh, he was speaking again. The smile that snaked along her features was probably not the reaction he was looking for, but it happened anyway. "Oh, I'm just fine." the youth waved her hand dismissively. "A few cuts and scrapes. Nothing I'm not used to." Small smile here, and she couldn't help but lean back, snapping another piece of chocolate off her bar. One brow rose as she thought, and unwrapping another bar of chocolate, Lita snapped a square off, reaching forward and offering it to Severus with a flirty smile.
"Here, take it! It's yummy." Yummy, Lita? Yummy. You're trying to impress a handsome, smart, and probably mature young man, and you use a word like yummy? "it's gooooood~" she sing-songed, chewing her own piece with a wide smile. If he took it between his teeth, Lita would just blush gently and move to snap off another square. If he didn't take it, however, she just lay it on his chest playfully and smirked. "Y'know, you're a lot stronger than I woulda taken you for." Small chuckle escaped before she tapped her chocolate bar against her lips in thought. "Next time you want some cuddles, just ask." Maybe it was the chocolate making her bold, or it was the nerves making her spit an onslaught of babble, but she couldn't stop the words coming from her lips. "Instead of, y'know. Pulling me down on top of you by the neck." Playfull giggle, before she waved some chocolate in his face again. Yummyyy~

Severus watched as Genis left, but he didn’t say much on the matter. Not because he didn’t want to, he was just… in the midst of waking up from a potion-induced hibernation. It made it difficult for him to respond to things quickly. By the time he would have found something worthwhile to say to the boy, he’d have already been back in his common room. Indeed, it was not the time for him to be making conversation with other people. He needed to focus on getting his mind on the same page as reality. Tasting colors and such was fun, but only for a little while. After ten minutes or so, it got a little… strange.
Something smelled nice.
He tilted his head towards Lita, watching her as she nommed on some chocolate. She was responding to the question he had managed to ask her, and he was pleased with the answer. If she wasn’t badly hurt, than it was likely nothing had happened when he was unconscious. They hadn’t fallen into further trouble in the woods. Clearly they had better luck than he did. If he had been the one working through the place on his own, he probably would have encountered every breed of beast in the damn place. How irritating, almost, that they had managed to get out without anything happening to them. It would have been nice if he wasn’t the only one in a hospital bed, trapping in the infirmary while his bones healed.
So… he was pleased and not pleased all at the same time.
When she offered him chocolate, which was what he had been sniffing, he smiled faintly and nodded, opening his mouth so she could slip a piece in for him. Like he was really going to take anything while he was feeling so weak. Thankfully, she seemed happy to oblige him, the boy soon enjoying a piece of the candy bar. IT was good- and something about chocolate was more than enough to provide a bit of energy. The sugar, perhaps. This time, though, it provided a bit of clarity as well. Once he had finished the piece, he was feeling a bit better. He managed to smile at Lita, blushing a bit as he realized how close she was to him.
When did that happen?
His blush deepened when she spoke again, the boy offering a faint chuckle. “Sorry… I didn’t mean to take you along for the ride. But you should be thankful. Not many people get to be so close to me.” He smiled and watched the girl, wondering why she might be thankful about something like that. Maybe he still had some kinks to work out of his brain.
“You saved me… I don’t know how to thank you.”

-------------------- When Severus took the chocolate, Lita couldn't stop the blush that reddened her face. They were just so close and this situation could almost be deemed sexy... y'know, if he wasn't all bandaged up and sunken in a hospital bed, and Lita wasn't covered in dirt and leaves, and Merlin knows what. Leaning back, the blonde sighed softly, watching Severus curiously as he regained composure and a sense of... well, reality. He hadn't said much, though she assumed it was because he was dizzy, or ill feeling, or... well, just plain tired. He had been passed out a while, and even being unconscious puts a strain on the soul and body. It was exhausting being broken!
Could Lita be wrong in assuming she saw a faint blush paint Severus' cheeks? Probably just embarrassed she was so intimately close to him. They hardly knew each other, and yet here she was sitting in his bed with him, leaning practically on top of him and waving chocolate in his face. The youth blushed herself, her eyes darting across the room to narrow on one of the nurses before she leaned back and stared at her lap. A small and nervous smirk touched her features, and the girl couldn't help but chuckle as well. "At least I had a soft landing. I'm sure having my large ass fall on top of you wasn't so pleasant." A tittle of laughter escaped, before she settled on a more comfortable seated position.
When Severus spoke again, Lita snapped off another square of her chocolate bar, a confused expression falling on her.
It wasn't just she that saved him... Genis had been there too, and I mean... someone would have come for him anyway, right? The sad fact was, nobody probably would have gone looking for him until they really realized he was missing. Lita's stomach flipped at the thought, and she simply chewed on a piece of chocolate to try and tame her nerves. Breaking a piece off the other bar of chocolate reserved for Severus, the girl leaned forward again, offering a quiet huff of a giggle and a gentle smile. "Open up." she purred, tapping the square of chocolate against his lips in hopes of his opening up like she asked.
Smirking to herself, the girl finally sighed, shrugging her shoulders casually before popping another broken shard of sugar into her awaiting mouth. "I didn't save you. Genis did most of it... I just mothered you and carried your broken butt up the hill." Finally a soft giggle erupted from her, and the blonde fiddled with the tinfoil packaging of the treats. Sky blue's flicked to gaze at the boy again, concern flooding her. "How are you feeling, anyway? I didn't hurt you too much when I fell on you, did I? Should I just take up residence in the Hospital Wing now, or later? I'll be here checking on you all the time anyway." Word vomit. Comes at the most inappropriate times.
