Oh. Oh sweet, bloody Merlin.
It was a Sunday morning, the weather slighter colder than was usual for September but not nearly bad enough to be inconvenient by any extent. Particularly since the young man was indoors and out of the way of the chilly breeze that all but tumbled down the cobble stone streets of Diagon Alley. But that was not at all on his mind right then. Though to be fair, it probably would have been something much less irritating - or horrifying anyway, had he walked into a cold workplace. It would have made opening the doors to his shop at least a little less eye-widening and his two furry companions a little less hyper. They had already had their morning run - which was supposed to tire them out enough not to cause problems, but with the chaos a flurry inside the Quidditch supply shop, they bound their way in and were barking and snapping at the air trying to catch what appeared to be well over two dozen Quidditch golden snitches flying about. Ushering himself inside quickly, he made certain to shut the door behind him before any of the fast little buggers managed to make the slip and escape into the streets.
Inside, he looked around, trying to find the source of their uncontained existance. It took a moment, air wiping by him on account of the golden blurs and providing something of an unnerving distraction. Almost jumping as one whizzed by his head and stopped to hover in front of the shops massive Great Grey Owl who was all but perturbed by the shiny object intent on disturbing his slumber, Dan's eyes landed on the fallen crate and frowned, scratching his head. Something crashed behind him, calling to his attention as his spun on his heel, his two great sheep dogs sniffing at a set of Broomstick Servicing Kits their antics had knocked from the shelves. "Hey!" Dan called as they looked back up, both barking as they started after the snitches again, "Kable, Max! Sit!" Dan yelled, digging for his wand which was... he ducked, a buzz playing past his ear whilst another box of quidditch supplies crashed to the ground thanks too his dogs. "Oh bloody hell!" He exclaimed, dropping to his knees in a half slide across the floor to grab onto his dogs collars, "Will you two settle down?" he yelled over their hyperactive voices, pulling them down to stroke behind their ears, "Really now. I know you want to help, but I can't get this cleaned up with you knocking supplies off the shelves," He found himself laughing despite the situation, calming the dogs down as he pulled out a pack of dog treats, tossing them away from where they would do harm.
With Kable and Max happily attending to the treats, Dan looked up from where he was kneeling on the floor and turned his body round to get a proper look at the innards of his shop to process the scene properly. Four service kits and a box of Beater pads had been knocked over by his dogs and the likely empty crate that was supposed to hold the snitches that were buzzing around the ceiling of the shop, had probably fallen over on account of one of the various rodents that lived in the walls. He wasn't certain, but he wasn't about to assume someone had broken in. There were charms set up as wards that would have gone off and would have had noticeable results. And nothing appeared to be missing. He was just thankful that the crate hadn't been full of bludgers. Near cringing at the thought he rose to his feet, finally giving himself a moment to reach into his pocket for his wand. Pulling it out he pointed it towards the mess of blurry golden snicthes and began to yell out a spell, "Immob-" Before he could finish however, one of the nasty buggers flew right into his hand, knocking his wand to clatter on the floor and leaving a white scratch on his thumb. "Shit!" he cursed.
Oh. This was a problem. A big problem. Nasty things had a flesh memory and now he hadn't a sodding clue which one in the array had rammed into his hand. Glancing around wildly for a set of gloves he ran over to his counter and pulled one of the drawers open - digging out the set of gloves and pulling them on to prevent it from happening again. Frantic for his wand again, he dropped back to his hands and knees, trying to find where it had rolled off to. notes || rah hah hah. snitches on the loose |

if you could only see the beast you've made of me. i held it in but now it seems you've set it running free. screaming in the dark, i howl when we're apart. drag my teeth across your chest to taste your beating heart.
-------------------- It was a cooler day than she was used to lately - the weather was getting more miserable by the day, and although she wanted to complain, she really couldn't. There was something truly magical about the look of one's breath on the cold and crisp air. Not that it was that bad right now, but it would be soon. Sooner than she figured. Running a hand through her hair, she was going through the regular routine motions of her days. Early morning was breakfast - she would duck behind the same back shed every morning, turn human, and continue on at a leisurely pace towards Hogsmeade. Elliot always went to the same cafe with brightly colored unbrella's; it's normally where she sat while she ate her breakfast. Weekdays, she generally went straight to Honeydukes to open shop for 8'o'clock am, however this was Sunday. Honeydukes didn't open until later. With the amount of boredom coursing through Elliot's veins, the woman decided to visit her good ol' buddy, Daniel.
Getting to Diagon Alley was no problem - it was all the shops that had pretty window decorations that was the only unfortunate flaw about this visit. Elliot Carlisle was addicted and attracted to pretty things. Pretty things, shiney things, and things that generally just looked awesome. The woman couldn't help but be attracted to the windows; pressing herself against the glass to look in quietly and smile to herself. Not that Elliot wasn't always smiling to begin with. Icey blue eyes flicked down the alley as the eruption of barking caught her attention, and her muscles twitched instinctually - she wanted to bark in return, just for the hell of it, but she kept her animalistic side swallowed down far. The familiar tone of Dan's shouting had Elliot only smiling wider to herself, and she took a moment to glance at the pretty things in the Cauldron shop before making her way casually to Quality Quidditch Supplies.
Black-Brown locks feathered at the crisp breeze that whipped past, and the gentle humming buzz of many snitches flitting about behind the glass had Elliot tipping her head in a confused tilt. Smile only faltered slightly in concern, before she saw Dan yelling at the dogs again and then pulling his wand to try and still the array of golden blurs. Pressing herself against the glass, Elliot knocked, grinning like a fool as Daniel rushed about in search of gloves. Uh-oh. One of those little buggers must-ah got him! Whether he heard her or not was beyond her, but she waved excitedly anyway (as if there were no buzzing snitches about the shop, and it was a hunky-dorey day).
When he began searching for his wand on all fours, Elliot finally allowed herself to roll her eyes, a rumble of laughter escaping her as she reached for the handle of the door - simultaneously grabbing her wand and pulling it as she stepped inside. Shutting the door swiftly beind her, the woman barely managed to dip her head out of the way of an excited snitch as she stepped her way closer to her friend. "Daniel. You're having troubles this morning." Uh... duh. But blunt as she was, Elliot was never one to sugar coat anything. Dropping to her knees, the woman crawled towards the man with a grin, seating herself next to him with her legs crossed. One arm extended, and she flicked her wand up at the hoarde of snitches.
"Stupefy!"
Whether the snitches grew still or not was beyond her, but the girl raised her brows, tilting her head towards Dan with a playful smirk snaked along her features anyway. She was holding back laughter - that much was obvious; I mean, it wasn't every day you got to witness a flurry of snitches buzzing about a shop. Placing her wand back on her hip and reaching into her jacket pocket, the woman kept her icey blue's on the man next to her, her hand busying itself in her pocket a moment before she pulled out a bagel with cream cheese and bacon - odd, sure, but certainly yummy. Unwrapping it, Elliot finally parted her painted lips in a grin, holding the food out between them. "Breakfast?" Way to make it seem like it was any other regular day, Elliot.

Caught up in the chaotic display the flitting objects had taken to, Dan remained perfectly unaware that a familiar set of eyes were watching from the window. And much less so that the reason his dogs started barking happily was due to that very fact. He had just assumed them to be barking up at the golden snitches again, that and his attention was set on finding his wind - which had apparently rolled off somewhere when it had been knocked out of his hand. What poor luck he was having. Too frantic to really let the day be a downer, he ducked his head close to the floor, looking under racks with only so much light offered. Attempting to shove his hand in to reach what he couldn't see, he found that it wouldn't fit, the intent ultimately redundant. His arms were far too large to account to be reaching into narrow places. The one of many downsides for being the size that he was - even if he had no intention to change that fact any time soon. Huffing to himself, as he drew back to sit up on his knee's, he caught sight of the door opening, an all too familiar young woman slipping inside. "Ellie!" he exclaimed in surprise, ducking slightly as a snitch whizzed by his head. Merlin, these things. Soon enough the whole set would render themselves useless if they kept trying to knock into him. There was already one he had to hunt down later to dispatch from the rest.
Looking back over at Ellie as she sat crossed legged before firing off a spell, Dan's eyes widened a bit, hands going up over his head as the snitches began falling from the air - one catching him squarely in the back."Hey! You could have used a freezing charm instead, you know," He said, recovering to look around. There were still about half a dozen flying around above, the rest landing with an assortment of clangs and clunks all over the back end of the store. Sighing he glanced around the floor, grabbing one of the snitches that had landed near him - thankful that he'd gloved his fingers, "Well, thanks anyway. I can't find my blasted wand - got knocked out of my hand in the chaos," He found himself laughing after a moment - setting the snitch on a self beside him. It would be a bit yet before the spell wore off. "What a way to start the morning," Shaking his head, he eyed up his friend all to used to her bizarre antics by now as she proceeded to offer him food. "Suppose I could take a break - just watch out for the other ones flying around. Can't have them touch your skin - Max, Kable! Come here boys!" he said, interjecting to call over his dogs. They looked up from where they had devoured their treats, bounding over to them, effectively knocking the service kits that had already been knocked over even further aside. Shaking his head dismissively, intent to clean it up after, he caught himself with his hand , the other raised high in the air with the piece of the bagel in the air, as Kable shoved into his chest, leaping onto him.
Meanwhile Max was actively sniffing out Elliot, like she was a long lost friend. "Hey down Kable!" Dan yelled out, shoving the dogs off, "Sit boys," It took a moment for the command to register, but once it did, they settled down; Kable sitting with his tongue hanging and Max opting to lay down in between Dan and Elliot. Satisfied, Dan settled, hand still propped against the dusty floor behind him as he took a bite of the bagel, attention back on Elliot, "So, what brings you here so early? Miss me?" He drawled harmlessly, falling into his usual flirting charm he seemed to shower most women with. Particularly the young quirky girl in front of him. He had taken quite a fondness to her even if their sexual chemistry was about a nil as it could have been. Which, really - was for the best. She was far too innocent for him - a fact that seemed to have registered sometime throughout their first meeting - however long ago that was. notes || rah hah hah. snitches on the loose |
