full name: Raine Virginia Sage
age: Twenty-four
year: None
birthday: April 9th 1949
blood line: Half
occupation: Runes Professor
former house: Ravenclaw
Since she was a little girl, Raine has always been a calm sort of child. Calm and caring. So, she’s very kind and gentle toward her students, she treats them all like equals, and she doesn’t play favorites or signal a certain student out more than others. She’s got somewhat of a split personality however when it comes to teaching and cooking. When she’s teaching something new, she’s always fast and excited, loud and quick tempered. She will allow no one to interrupt her and she can always find the person talking and nail him or her with a missile of chalk, an eraser or sometimes even a book if she’s really ticked off.
She very protective of her little brother and will punish anyone she sees picking on the poor little guy. She sometime embarrasses him, but she insists it’s because she loves him so much. In reality, she’s afraid of losing him so she watches out for him and makes sure that he doesn’t get in with ‘the wrong crowd’ and she also tries to help him with his homework if he asks.
She deals with her brother’s misbehavior herself some of the time. She once took caught him swearing at an older student for messing up his hair. She took him by the wrist, dragged him all the way to her office, put him over her knee, spanked the hell out of him, and then told him he’d get more if he ever swore again. She’s not however mean to her brother. In fact, she’s very kind to Genis most of the time and she tells him everything, her worries, her sorrows and her fears. She isn’t however a very open sort of woman with people of her own age. She’s afraid of rejection and abandonment so she doesn’t open up to the teachers and staff very well. They just know her as that shy woman with the horrible cooking. She doesn’t want to open up her heart and have it broken. She just fears that one day, she’ll end up like her mother.
History
When Raine was born, she was always with her mother and Virginia was a very kind woman. Raine spent most of her time asking the same question over and over and over. Why? She’d ask. She was a very bright young girl. Her father Kloitz was always playing with her and telling her how beautiful she was and she believed him too. She, her mother and her father were very happy and Raine first asked for a book when she was just three years old and by the time she was four, she was already demanding that she be read much bigger books and be taught how to read books without any pictures at all.
Thus began the little girl’s thirst for knowledge. Instead of playing with the boys and girls her age, she was inside reading and writing and when she did play her favorite game of all to play was ‘school’ and she insisted on being the teacher. At a young age she was attracting the boys, but her father Kloitz kept saying to stay away from boys. But Raine had her first boy friend when she was eight. Virginia thought it was adorable. Kloitz did not. Straight away he began warning the little boy about the things he’d do to him if he touched his daughter. He scared the little boy so badly that he ran away screaming and Raine stamped off to her room yelling and crying that her daddy was a mean man.
By the time Raine was eleven years old, her mother Virginia gave birth to another child. A baby boy named Genis. Raine fell in love with Genis the moment she was allowed to hold the small child. However, her father was no where to be found. She’d been told that he’d gone to the store, but Raine being the intelligent child she was knew something was wrong. Kloitz had left Virginia the night Genis was born. Later, Raine figured out why by reading her mother’s diary. Kloitz had left her mother because Genis wasn’t the little girl he wanted him to be. ‘Virginia’ it read ‘I’m sick of watching my own child surpass me in every way I didn’t. She’s even a genius and now, my son might be what I once was? He should have been a girl. If he was our little Jean instead he wouldn't be a freak. It was a mistake. You and both those children are’ and then, Raine dropped the diary and ran to her mother’s side and sobbed. She however didn’t get the comfort she had wanted. She was pushed to the floor and left on her own in her mother’s room while the woman ran out.
The very next day, Raine was on a walk with her mother, pushing Genis in his stroller in front of her. ‘Mother?’ She’d asked, ‘Where are we going Mother?’ But she didn’t reply instead Virginia ignored her daughter and brought her to a large building where she bent down, gave Raine a hug, and then passed Genis to her and turned her back and began to walk away. ‘Mother? Mother where are you going? I want to come too! Mother!’ she shouted and tried to go after the woman, but the man at the orphanage held her back. ‘Mother! Come back mother! Mother I need you!’ But Virginia didn’t turn back. That was the last she saw of her mother for many years. The very next week Raine was to return to school. She bade goodbye to her little brother, even though the boy couldn’t talk and kissed him on the head. Boarding the train, she watched the parents of students waving good bye to their children and looked away. She didn’t understand. Why had their mother put them in an orphanage? Did she throw them away? Were they not good enough for her? Or where they simply mistakes? Like her father had said in Virginia’s diary? Whatever the reason, she began to hate her mother while at the same time missing her.
She was sorted in Ravenclaw, as she always wanted to be and soon learned that if she studied hard, she couldn't think about her parents and couldn't worry about her baby brother. So, she studied night and day, barely even making friends with anyone, frightened that if she did, they too would leave her. As time passed however, she began to loosen up just a little bit and was soon making friends and having fun. She began to enjoy school.
She excelled in the more difficult classes, such as Runes and Arithmacy and she loved History of Magic, even though Professor Binns was a little bit....dull. She didn't however allow herself to date any men. She looked at them, developed crushes and talked to them, but she refused to date them, afraid of getting her heart broken. Afraid of being left.
When she’d return home from school each summer she would take her brother from where ever he was and study with him by her side, she lived almost every day of her life in fear that one day she’d get home from school and find out he’d been adopted and taken away. So she kept him close whenever possible. The holidays were spent on her own with her brother, caring for him even though she knew the caretakers at the group home would gladly do it. Genis was her brother. Her responsibility. She wasn’t going to pass him off to someone to care for him when she was perfectly capable of doing so herself.
And so the years went by and she and Genis grew up. By the time Genis was two and she was thirteen, Genis met Lloyd Irving, a little boy from another neighborhood.
Lloyd was five and at first, Raine didn’t want him playing with the boy, but once she saw how Lloyd looked out for Genis and how Genis looked up to him, she became more and more comfortable with the idea. And so as more time passed, Raine graduated from Hogwarts, still having not been adopted, though that was mainly because she refused to trust any parental figure again and would hide herself away from interviews with adults. Genis would hide with her, both frightened of being separated from one another. It was only until Genis was six and Raine was seventeen did they get out of there, Raine became Genis’ legal guardian and left the group home with the little boy in tow along with money saved up from summer jobs at the age of sixteen and a little from the Irvings. She was on her way. She got a job and quickly went to the Ministry to learn to be a Professof. So, everyday after school, while Raine was still at work, Genis would go to Lloyd’s house and get watched over by the boy and his parents. Raine threw herself into her classes at the Ministry, moving up the ladder quickly and at the young age of twenty one, she became a teacher. She taught Ancient Runes at Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardy.
When she became twenty four, Genis a little thirteen year old boy, Lloyd sixteen and a happy stowaway, they went exploring the country on a road trip, popping into different states, seeing the sights and learning all they could (and in Lloyd’s case being their pack mule for punishment for stowing away in the back of the car) about the places they visited. It was a happy time. Until they stumbled on a small town no one outside of it had even heard of. There, in that town was Raine and Genis’s mother. Virginia had forgotten about her daughter and had replaced her with a doll. Virginia said to Raine. 'This is my daughter Raine, isn't she lovely? I have another one on the way. His name will be Genis'. “What the hell Mother? What’s the matter with you? How could you replace us like that? You abandoned us! Why Mother? Why?’ She’d shouted, but she didn’t get the reply she wanted. Instead Virginia scowled and snapped ‘Now look what you’ve done! You’ve gone and upset Raine! Get out of my house you horrible woman!’ And so, Raine ran from the house with Genis right behind her. For the first time in many years, she dropped to her knees and began to cry.
The next couple of days, she was moody and cross and prone to throwing things but after a couple of weeks she began to return to normal and by the time summer finished, she began teaching all over again and with a smile on her face. But, sometimes he mother still visits her in her dreams, letting her know she's unwanted. Unloved. Not good enough.

Ever since that night at the dance, Raine had been having......the most curious of dreams. They all revolved around one person. Jovian. The man she's danced with. The man with the.....attractive.....sexy accent. The man with the handsome face, mysterious yet.....familiar eyes. The man with the face she knew! But that .....that was impossible. She'd never seen Jovian before in her life.
She'd talked with over the phone a couple times, drinking in his accent and acting all goofy the second she hung up the phone. She'd seen him few times and yet, she couldn't tell herself it was a date. They'd always just .....happened to run into each other. At a coffee shop, at a book store, where ever there were plenty of people in casual clothes. Where ever they could be that wouldn't be considered a place to date. Dating lead to other things and other things led to heart break.
It turned out, it was good thing she didn't get involved with Jovian, for one day he just vanished. Poof! Like dust in the wind. It wasn't hurtful or anything, just surprising. She thought he'd at least give her a way to contact him. Maybe he was just a loner, maybe he wasn't interested. Which was good! She wasn't interested. So why was she dreaming about him?
These thoughts crashed around and around in her head from time to time until one day, it got to be too much. She needed a walk. So she got up, putting on a pair of hip hugging jeans that clung to her legs, ever so slightly, her sneakers, a purple shirt that showed off just a bit of cleavage (not too much of course) and a light black imitation leather jacket and set off. Out the door she went, just striding off aimlessly.
It was just a simple crush on a guy. An incredibly handsome guy with an accent to die for! No! No.....no. She couldn't think of him! Not his face, not his....strong.....gentle hands.....or muscular arms wrapping around-NO! She shook her head, scowling as she made herself blush just thinking about it.
"Stop it Raine." She told herself firmly, "He's gone. Go get some romance novels and put him out of your mind!" and that's what she planned on doing. She walked down the sidewalk and then stopped dead in her tracks.
It was him! A small part of her light up with excitement, and she quickly pushed it down. This was the guy who vanished! The sexy guy who'd vanished. She ambled over, acting casual, trying to pretend she had no idea he was there. She planned on going right past him, but then she heard him sigh. It was a......a tragic sigh! Like....like something was terribly terribly wrong.
".....Jovian?" She asked gently and stood in front of him, staring down at him, concern written all over her face. "...........Are you okay?" Of course he wasn't okay! What the hell kind of question was that? "......It's me. Raine, do you....want to go get a cup of coffee or an ice-cream? Or we can sit here......you.....you look like something's....troubling you. Something important."
A memory flashed across her mind as he looked up at her. A part of her dream.
Two Jovian look-a-likes stood there, side by side. One was dressed in very old fashioned clothing, right out of the times of Rome. The other was garbed in more modern gear. They spoke as one. 'We are the Pale Solider. We are Jovian. We are one. We are the same'" she shook her head and smiled at him, pushing the image away. This wasn't about her. Not now.
