Lucid, Puffskein
"I got Lucid when I first found out I was a wizard and was in Diagon Alley. Yeah, I know puffskeins are more of a children's pet but I'm not seeing how that could be the case. I mean they make really great pets. My mum wasn't big on them at first, little too much like a really furry rat but she really warmed up to them. Bet we're the only muggle family in the area that has a puffskein for a pet. Mum realized they're great for catching spiders and other creepy crawlies."
"Tell me about your wand."
"My wand? Its an Aspen wand, ten inches, with a phoenix feather core. Its a pretty argumentative wand sometimes but the longer we've been together there's been less arguing. And we do pretty good at dueling together. Its pretty much the only thing I would actually say I'm good at. And its fun too."
"Can you produce a patronus? What form does it take and what powers it?"
"No, I can't produce a patronus yet. I tried but its not even trying to take shape. Guess I need to learn more magic it'll work. Been using the memory I had when I got my Hogwarts letter. But maybe its not a strong enough memory. I'll have to work on it."
"Care to tell me what you see when you see a boggart?"
"Oh, do I have to? Fine, when we had to face a boggart in defense against the arts that year I saw... I saw people laughing. At me. I know it seems so silly and compared to other people's fears that's nothing but I don't like to be ridiculed and it seems to happen sometimes, well, a lot because I get nervous. But I've never had everyone laughing at me like the boggart showed. I hope it doesn't happen either."
"I'm sure you've never seen a dementor but do you have a worst memory you can think of?"
Oliver decided not to answer this because for him at the current moment has to be the fact the moment that he realized he's gay. The whole thing just scares the hell out of him every time he thinks about it. While its nothing traumatic like most people have it hits him on a personal level like one may not have thought possible.
Personal Importance
"What are some of the things you like?"
"Pumpkin juice, studying pureblood families, taking pictures, studying random things, dueling, reading, playing darts, chess and checkers."
"And lets not forget dislikes."
"Divination, people who are really loud, bats, crisps, flying, shallow people, the colour purple, not getting a good night sleep, pre-test nerves, the fact that he gets nervous easily."
General Personality
- Friendly. Oliver is a friendly enough guy even though to most of the population he appears a little on the strange side because he gets nervous easily. If you can manage to over look the fact that he's nervous, its something that you would be able to tell sometime. He's pretty much against being mean to people, within reason anyway. While he's not going to seek out someone to be mean to, he's not nice to people that are normally not nice to him. There are times he overlooks the behavior, more so when he's studying the pureblood families seeing as he feels that they are conditioned to react the way they do.
- Impatient. Waiting by far is something that Oliver is not even slightly good at. The whole thing just annoys him up one side and down the other. Though more times then not the odds are that he won't say a word if it really is bothering him unless he knows that person really well or is REALLY, REALLY annoyed by someone. But that is something that doesn't happen too often. Considering he's pretty timid, its safe to say that he normally won't say a single thing.
- Mature. For his age, Oliver is more mature then he should be. For some reason he aged in that department rather quickly and now won't sink to the point that most fifteen year olds do for a laugh or anything else for that matter. While sometimes its great to be the type of person that can keep their head when other people can't even slightly manage it. There really are large downsides when people are having fun and Oliver wants to join in but for some reason can not get himself to do it.
- Intelligent. Even though its pretty much a trait for most of the world it is important to say that Oliver is the type of person that is without a doubt intelligent. While not all of that knowledge in his head is book smarts he's not exactly some sort of idiot either. To a degree, he's a happy combination of book smarts and street smarts and more often then not if there's something he doesn't know he will spend hours researching until he figures it out.
- Passionate. Despite being timid and sometimes a little spineless in social situations, there are things in Oliver's life that causes a passion in him and better yet self confidence. Surprisingly enough, all though the list of things that has that power over him is small, it is not very possible to get Oliver to drop whatever he his passionate about. All in all, the whole thing almost brings out another side to him.
- Persistent. Oliver is not exactly the type that is keen on the whole idea of giving up either. If there's something he wants or wants to do then he will pick and pick and pick until he gets it. While this has been used many times again and again for getting information out of various pureblooded students, that general behavior has also managed to get him in the hospital wing more then once.
- Timid. As stated several times already, Oliver is a bit of a shy or timid person. In situations where he doesn't feel comfortable or confident he falls back into a state of being tranquil as a deer. Its not often how a person should deal with such things but sometimes it is just the easiest thing that Oliver can do and not be really upset and panicking later.
- Nervous. Right along with the timid behavoir we have nervous. And Oliver often gets just that. And when he does, look out! The poor boy becomes a stuttering, mumbling mess and has been known to trip over things and fall to the floor or worse on someone.
- Unconfident. There are a lot of things in Oliver's life that cause a great deal of unease and thus have created an unconfident state for him. While there are times where he is very confident (i.e. when dueling, during certain classes, out with friends and at home) there other things that zap his confidence and shut him down. Though he has been doing his best in general not to cause that to happen it is far from something that works well all the time. And thus the unconfident behavior overrides. Overcoming the lack of confidence he suffers from does happen sometimes but it is rare, it must be something that he's passionate about or it'll never work.
Home and Family
"Where were you born?"
"I actually was born an orphan so I'm not really sure where. Hey don't give me that pity look. Its not really a big deal. I have parents I just don't know what happened to my first set."
"And where do you live now?"
"For as long as I can remember we have lived in Mablethorpe. Its a small muggle town on the coast. Nice enough place, bit of a nightmare in the summer though. For some reason people like to flock to the sand. I'm not sure why its really not that great but I do see it all the time when I'm home."
"What about your family?"
"I don't have any siblings just a mum and a dad, William and Shelly Tuttle. I wouldn't trade them for anything. Yeah they're just muggles but there's nothing wrong with that."
For History Books
"Lastly, your past. Anything interesting you'd like to add?"
"I never knew my real parents. Yeah, you heard right. Can't even say they had some sort of tragic death Shakespeare style or anything. I just didn't know them and I can't say I'm bitter for it. That's not the case at all. I'm not one of those troubled types either or those orphans in horror movies that hacks up their foster family and hides them in the walls. I didn't even have it bad, the opposite really. I was adopted when I was three or four months by William and Shelly Tuttle, Americans that had relocated for personal reasons. Regardless, they took me in, treated me as their own flesh and blood. Completely wonderful people though I couldn't have asked for better parents. Sure I wonder sometimes what happened to my birth parents but wondering about it really doesn't change anything and so I just don't worry about it. But like I said I'm a pretty normal person as orphans go, sure there was a few times where I did somethings in my younger years that I couldn't explain but I know now that it was just the magic in me finding an exit.
Didn't bother my parents one bit that I was a wizard either. There's always a part of you that does worry considering everything when your parents are muggles and you're adopted. Was worried they'd think I'm some sort of walking freak show but they've really tried to take an effort into understanding my studies and what not. Its great having people around that give a person confidence.
Anyway, once I got to Hogwarts I was sorted into Ravenclaw and I pretty much did all the learning I possibly could. But I'll be the first to admit that socially I'm lacking and more then a little bit. Its just that people tend to make me nervous because I want to meet their standards and well it just goes downhill from there. Sure I have a few friends here and there but I'm not the most popular person on the planet and I know that there are people that make remarks behind my back. But I think everyone has that problem to one point or another. I can't say its been super interesting to the point of being worth going in a history book other then that. I've pretty much just been getting my work done and trying not to get bullied. I do have this really interesting hobby of researching all the pureblood families though. I admit that's gotten me in trouble a few times. Some of the ones at Hogwarts are fond of questions but it really is an interesting hobby.
Oh, and its OWLs this year. I really am so nervous about it. I want my grades to be good. Mum and dad said I could get a cat if I did well. Might be a little risky with Lucid around though but I'll figure it out."
